Ibanez's RGD models feature extra-long 26.5" necks and arrive with full-step down factory tuning. Original CAP-VK pickups are mounted and ready to ride. A lot of metal players hold their guitars low and the sharp-shaped RGD body achieves good balance and easier access to high frets for low-slingers.

Ok, so this was the first guitar I bought online and I had a really bad experience with it at first. the nightmare began when I ordered a gator case for it and said it would fit extended scale guitars as well, guess what? It didn't, so I would strongly recommend you to look for an XL case if you're buying it online. Next, the killer look and flawless satin finish are amazing BUT the factory setup and fretboard treatment were just, HORRIBLE (I have an IBZ S series too and when I opened the box it wasn't that way at all), so we're talking about unpolished and rusty frets, bad intonation and unplayable string action, they told me that they could have everything fixed for 50 bucks and I refused so I did at home. After polishing the frets with sandpaper, adjusting the bridge and the neck the storm was gone, now I'm just saving some money to get a set of DiMarzio pickups on it because the stock ones are kinda muddy and noisy. Don't get me wrong this is a GREAT 7 string guitar for being an extended scale and Ibanez as well at that price, but if you are as unlucky as me you you'll have to spend some extra time and money to get it right.
This is the first seven string I have bought and so far I love it. The entire guitar is just sleek and smooth, it's a gorgeous guitar and the neck is so thin that it's impossible to hate. One of my friends has a custom Carvin eight string and the neck feels nearly identical to this Ibanez for more then half the price. The action/tension that it came with shipped out of the factory was great. But there are some issues with it. First it was on back order for a month which is fine with me(especially since I was able to get it for 480 bucks for my wait), but I feel like because of the rush they made a few mistakes on it. The back of the neck has a few rough spots from what I'm guessing is the maker rushing to get it out since it was on back order for so long. They aren't major but they are noticeable while I'm holding it. Hopefully the local GC tech will fix it for me. Also the pickups do not have any kind of guard around them which shouldn't be an issue, but when I opened it up there were little chips of wood inside near the pickups. Again I feel like it's from them rushing. On the topic of the pickups, they're definitely not the best like most people have pointed out on other reviews. They're serviceable but lack any real punch for metal. They'll work for now but I do plan on replacing them. This guitar is great and I love it. All I own is Ibanez guitars and I'll continue to buy from them. The wait for it is understandable and I'm not going to be "that customer" especially since I got it just 3 days after it was finally instock. As long as I can get the neck issue fixed I'll be 100% in love with this guitar.
