I purchased the new RG7420 just a couple of days ago and I can say that this guitar has lived up to what I thought could ever be from a guitar. I have owned a few Ibanez's in the past but when I unboxed my new RG7420 and played this amazing instrument I found it plays really nice and sounds great too! I and a friend of mine set the guitar up and since I haven't put it down for too long. the black pick-ups have a lot of gain and the edge tremolo give it a sleek look. I would definitely recommend this product.All-around it is just really fun to play. The fret board is pretty flat but I have my action pretty low, but this guitar's jumbo frets feel nice when running my fingers up and down scales on it. Don't forget to get yours set up a little when you get it so it plays how you want.
I have been playing over 16 years and have played about every genre you can think of. I have modified my equipment and have played on several brands of guitars. I got a yellow Ibanez rg6420 1989 version used off of ebay about 10 years ago and Loved that guitar but had to sell it off for a cheaper 7 string at the time. I have learned to love that brand out until I seen they had a new white version of this RG7420. I didn't even wait to try it out cause I already knew this was the guitar for me. I missed Ibanez and Love Ibanez and got this shipped to me the second it was made from the factory. This has a AMAZING SLICK FAST Wizard neck. It came tuned from the factory and locked down and it was still "tuned" when I got it. The feel is a heavier body feel but the sustain is well worth the extra weight. It reminds me I am playing on a real guitar now. The pictures do it zero justice and the play-ability is outta this world. The stock pickups sounded 10 times as crunchier and heavy in tone than my older guitar and the 5 switch really lets you experience a wide range of tones and sounds. It sounds great clean with rich fat tone I can literally play death metal then jump to blues and it sounds perfect ether way. This guitar is BEAST. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone looking to invest in a great guitar. I used it at two practices now and a concert without worry. I run though a peavy 5150 stack and paired with that its ALOT of BEAST.
