Before all of you think I'm a negative nancy, hear me out. I've been playing guitar for 11 years... I was using a WashBurn up until 3 months ago. It finally started falling apart on me so I needed to get a new guitar. I seen this ibanez in the store, and loved the look of it. I went home and read about it, seen that it had GREAT reviews. And for such a reasonable price?! I gotta have it right? WRONG. If you're like me and you keep your guitar PERFECTLY in tune then this guitar will literally make you insane. When I first got it, it kept going out of tune. So I brought it to the store for a "Set Up"... where they adjust the intonation, string height, etc. After I brought it home, it literally went right back out of tune (Yes with the lockers on). So I brought it back and he made some adjustments to the springs and the bridge. Then came out and said, "Listen I did the best I can, it stays in tune but if you pull up the whammy, you have to push it down to make it fall back into tune again." After that I tried replacing the strings, nothing. Tried asking other guitar techs, they had no idea. The best answer I got from a friend was that it's just a cheaper guitar and that's what you get. Apparently (according to the other reviews) not many people pay attention to this problem. So if you could care less about the tremolo, then YES BUY THIS GUITAR! But in my case, I really wanted a guitar with tremolo, so since I'm passed GC's 30 day return pollicy, I have to just buy another guitar, which means I just spent money on a Glamorous Paper Weight.

An excellent sword of 6 strings!

By ibackson

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

i bought this guitar about 1 month ago and i love it!,the sound is good, even though my amp isnt that good, this guitar rules! i cant imagine how cool this guitar would sound with a good amp...the only thing that i dislike about this beauty is that its hard to tune, but once you get your tune, this guitar will keep it that way, without tuning down or anything else...but like people say "nothing is perfect",this guitar is holding hands with perfection!....I strongly recommend this sword of 6 strings and LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!

Awesome axe for little dough!

By MyUndyingLove

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

I am an Ibanez junkie and own seven others, including a Universe and a USA Custom and this one plays with the best of 'em! I love that it has the Edge tremolo (would have been nice on my S 7-string..curse the Lo-TRS)which has done very well with staying in tune. Maybe some Gotoh tuners on the next edition? I think this guitar is absolute dynamite and would be even more explosive with some active EMG's or a set of DiMarzio's but the stock pickups aren't bad at all. Looks are just as drop-dead gorgeous as my $1,100 USA Custom. Definitely a worthy addition to anyone's collection. It sure made THIS Ibanez freak happy!

100% awesome guitar = happy player

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

This guitar deserves more than 5 stars it is a beautiful ax and has a terrific sound. The INF have A distinctive sound and are really good for stock pickups. Before I bought this I played it at GC I banged the h3ll out of its tremolo and it stayed in tune and I tighten the tremolo when I took it home. If yours gets out of tune you need a setup well if ur interested u should buy it . Long live ibanez lol

Outstanding rock sound

By Wido

from Buenos Aires, Argentina

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

I've played many different guitars and brands, such as gibsons, old fenders, jacksons, but I've always own Ibanez guitars. This one is an excelent guitar, not only is beautiful, but the sound it owns is outstanding. The INF pickups have a really nice sound and they are very versatile, you can go from warm clean tones to hard rock to a really heavy metal. The neck is a little bit thicker for my taste, but is really well made and the shark-tooth inlay is awesome. The down side, the neck is not glazed, so it will get dirty

Great buy, hard to tune

By Next Steve Vai

from Victorville, ca

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

I love this guitar, even though I've been playing for less than a year. Since I'm a begginer, I say it's nice to have but too much to start with. Other than that this guitar kicks it... it sounds great on my line 6, fast neck, with one considerable "con", when it comes to tunning it is a hell, but the hard work is worth it cuz it'll stay that way for long... i love it!!

Great Guitar

By Vanderkill

from RI

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar for Christmas and it is awesome. Its got a really nice, low action. The locks for the strings keep it in tune even after the biggest dive bombs or squeals. The H-S-H pickup setup gives a great variety of tones. The neck is real fast and thin. Best of all, the finish is great looking. This is an amazing guitar.

Great guitar for a good price

By Chase Martin

from Murray, KY

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

i bought this as a practice guitar. i have no real complaints with it except that if you mess with the tremolo to much it will throw the tuning out. Otherwise its a beautifull, great playing guitar. Pickups are decent and i would recommend this guitar to anyone whether you need a cheap second guitar or if youre a begginer and need an upgrade from your old guitar

Great Buy

By ThatGuy

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

I bought this as my first electric and am loving it so far. I have only been playing about 6 months but this seemed to be the best value out there. The sound is great once you actually get it tuned (my only complaint). The neck is smooth and easy to get play and the range of sounds you can get is awesome. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great instrument at a fair price.

Instrument of the Rock god!

By Bob

from North Carolina

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

Up on mount Olympus, dwells the Ibanez RG4EXQM1. It has nice chrome hardware, and the finish is excellent(the grey looks better than the blue). Being a classic rock fan, I was skeptical as to how a guitar meant for metal would sound. However when I plugged it into an amp, not only did it deliver a Metallica worthy metal sound, but it also sounded great playing Van Halen or AC/DC riffs. The 5-way pickup switch is very easy to use in order to get an accurate tone. I would recomend this fine instrument to any rocker of any kind.

A True Metal Massacre Begins With This Axe!

By LilHetfield91

from Sauk Village, IL

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

A true metal guitarist's axe of choice! I walked into my local Guitar Center today and, immediately, the Ibanez RX4EXQM1 caught my eye. I grabbed it off the wall and plugged into a Crate 120 Watt combo. I then began hammering out every metal riff from "Master of Puppets" to "Cowboys From Hell" and "Laid To Rest". The bridge pickups delivered searing sounds and rich harmonic squeals while the neck pickup gave a more soothing sound for, say, the opening solo of "Fade to Black". This guitar has it all, and with a Floyd Rose-style tremolo and locking nut, this guitar is great for dive bombs and Dimebag Darrel's signature harmonic squeals. As soon as I get enough money, I will definitely be buying this guitar!

INSANE AXE!!!!!!!!!!!!

By shredhead1977

from somewhere around Philly

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

Dude this guitar's great!!!!!! I just got a blue one two days ago and i have no regrets!!!!!! I carry a picture of it in my pocket to show it off to my friends. Everything's awesome - great, thin neck, 24 jumbo frets, 5 signature ibanez pickups, quilted maple top design and of course a FLOYD ROSE!!!! It has a real heavy tone, great for metal, but also a solid clean tone. I only took off in quality because one of the springs in the back was rubbing up against a splinter in the wood, so whenever a moved the guitar or used the whammy bar, the springs would rattle and sqeak, which got pretty annoying. All I had to do was take off the splinter and the sqeaks went away. Overall - great guitar!! If you want a heavy sounding, easy to play axe, buy it right here, look no further. The Master of Shred has spoken.

great guitar

By Jake

from New Hampshire

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

This guitar plays smooth, fast, and it has really low action. unfortunately when I brought it home I tuned all the strings down a half step to play a song. It took me about five times around the strings just to drop them a half step because the tremolo would just sink in making the strings higher. then when I finally got it down I tried to play the strings at the twevlth and higher frets the strings were too low and just fuzzed out. Then after screwing around with the tremolo for a while i decided to tune the guitar back up and it took me another five times around because the tremolo came back up dropping the strings tune. other than that this is a great guitar and plays very well.

The best guitar I've ever played.

By Ibanez22

from York, PA

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

This guitar is absolutely amazing. The neck is thin and fast, the body is light weight, the paint job is like nothing I've ever seen, and the pickups sound sweet. To me, there is nothing wrong with this guitar at all. I will always trust and use Ibanez guitars.

Surprisingly well made for a non Japanese model

By Ryan

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

First the good stuff. Right out of the box, this is a beautiful instrument. Very deep finish with a highly figured quilt top. Very solidly made, especially for a non Japanese RG. Well dressed frets, clean inlay on the fretboard. The binding is very well done, and the color is consistant and even. The satin finished Wizard II neck is very fast, and the flat radius and uniform fret height add up to a comfortable neck that begs to be played fast but will sustain until Britney Spears learns to sing. With the binding around the body, its hard to tell just how thick the maple top is. It does seem to be a bit brighter than my RG320 with the same pickups. Speaking of pickups, I was pretty surprised at the tone of the INF's. I'm not a big fan of the INF series pickups, but these seem to have more clarity and brightness at high volume and high gain, but aren't too chimey or glassy when clean. There is a bit of hum, but that's not a big issue. This is a well above average Indonesian import. There were a few VERY minor issues out of the box, and if you can restring a double locking trem, you can fix them yourself without any problems. The spring retainer on the sustain block seems to be a new design, and just doesn't seem as well made as earlier designs. The bridge is an Edge III, not a "licensed Floyd Rose" as the description states. Ibanez doesn't make a guitar with a Licensed Floyd anymore. You'll either love the edge, or hate it. Personally, I've never had an issue with mine not returning to pitch after a dive. If its properly set up, the edge is rock solid. Setup from the factory wasn't bad, but since it shipped with .09 strings I had to change them anyway. After putting .10's on it an raising the action a bit (maybe 3mm, I probably could have gotten away with the factory height), its completely buzzless. I'd reccomend that anyone at least give this guitar a test drive.

This guitar owns like thats it's job.

By Aaron

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

This is the sickest, cleanest, most spine munching axe you could even think of. It's beautiful yes but theres a completly new look when your holding that beast in you hands. You may think you have played a cool guitar, but try out this bad baby, it seriously makes you start jumping around and pulling off some slash moves. But anyway, the 5 way pickup switch will have you all over it, it can pull some slow, fast undistorted sweet heart songs, then scream into some distorted trash. The pickups can sustain like it was living for it and the body can grab gods eyes. All and all its the best shred to clean shred to bare clean w/ no distortion to whatever the hell you want to play guitar ever. Oh and i have pulled off numerous dive bombs with it's godly thremolo bar. *This guitar is not edible*
