Overview

This Ibanez RG4EXFM1 Electric Guitar's pickups and pickup placement give you the hard-edged cutting tone you want for heavy rock. With a bridge humbucker pickup, middle single coil, and neck humbucker, you'll never run out of tone options.

As heavy as it rocks, this Ibanez RG guitar is made of basswood, a comparatively lightweight wood, which makes it very comfortable for extended playing. With a good balance of highs and lows, basswood sits right between alder and mahogany in sound character. The RG guitar's flamed maple top not only adds beauty, but just a bit of extra brightness to make individual notes stand out. 24 frets offer easy playing for leads and chording and the Ibanez RG4EXFM1 has a tremolo bridge that lets you dive-bomb all night long. A locking nut helps keep you in tune.

Since 1987, many players have selected the Ibanez RG as their weapon of choice for visiting sonic mayhem on the metal masses. With the right choice of pickups and flat, fast necks, the Ibanez RG4EXFM1 guitar crunches its way to classic status.

I just got this guitar a few days ago and it is by far the best guitar I have ever had, this thing is perfect for shredding or for a nice clean tone, the neck is amazing Ive never felt anything like it, the Tremelo works perfectly and never goes out of tune if you set it up right, the pickups in it are suprisingly amazing. my favorite part is how strong the trust rod is. you can pull the neck back as hard as you can and it won't budge, a big(perfect for live shows), and at the cut aways it's cut down a bit so you can hit that 24th fret with no effort. the color is amazing, the girls love it, I got mine in grey. it feels really good while standing up too, most guitars I play feel weird to play standing up but this one is perfect, but over all it is an amazing guitar. it would make an awsome Holiday gift, and hey you can't go wrong with an Ibanez.

Knife edges on tremolo bridges like on this guitar will eventually wear down, even if it's set correctly. I've had this guitar professionally set three times, and it still hasn't stayed in tune like it's supposed to. If it had a Zero Resistance bridge, I'd buy it though, because it sounds good. The bad tuning stability just makes it 1 star for me.

Would be five stars if bridge was better.

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar in 2009 so I've had some experience with it. Overall, It's a really great instrument. The neck is perfect, the finish is beautiful, and the pickups rock!!! My only problem is that no matter how much I set up the bridge, it would always go out of tune, that's an easy fix if you have extra money laying around, I bought a Floyd Rose from Warmoth and installed it (Don't be scared, it's a perfect fit) NOW the guitar is perfect. This is my first Ibanez and I expect to own many many more of them.

Blows Me Away Every Time

By Imbo

from Garden City, NY

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

I used to play a Gibson SG which i was in Love with but soon realized i needed something with a little more of a "newer" tone to say. I was looking for about 5months at my local Guitar Center for a guitar with a locking tremelo and a little more punchy without emptying my wallet. I played on all guitars in my budget and a few out of it. This by far had the Greatest tone i could find. I barely use my SG because this has so much more tone along with the trem and a BLAZING fast neck. For the price, this guitar is EXTREMELY well worth it. Has a decent weight to it, quality pickups, quality trem, quality body and neck, quality paint. Just get it!

Sweet guitar

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

I have had this guitar for a little more than a year and it has done the job day in and day out great. It plays well and stays in tune when set up correctly. I've beat up on it alot and the only minor issue I've had with it is the part that the guitar plug goes into, comes off every so often, so if gigging, make sure that it is tight.. Other than that you can play wicked solos, have great clean sounds. Great buy.

The Love of My Life!

By Axavier J

from eugene oregon

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is by far the most Comfortable, Flow-able, Beautiful, Crisp Clean Guitar I've ever laid hands on! I've had mine a Little over a year now play it everyday and I'm still finding amazing sounds I've never heard before. I haven't found anything this guitar can't play. Melodic, Harmonic, Symphonic, Metal, Rock, Jazz, Classical, Blues, Country the list could go on forever! You can get some very Deep Clean and Crisp Blues as well as Heavy Harmonic Metal. Love the Pickups! So that being said. The best way I can describe this guitar is;Vibratious, Crisp, Clean, Deep, Hard, Heavy, Dreamy, Aquatic, Spacey, and just plain Gorgeous! The only thing that is Kind of a Pain is changing the strings and setting it up right. It took me forever the first time to get it balanced the way I wanted! But Once you get it set perfect.. Let just say.. HEAVEN ON SIX STRINGS. Stays in tune even on the most malicious of Dive Bombs. I may at some point change 1 or 2 of the Pickups out most likely wont though Seeming how the Ones that are in already sound amazing! All in all This RG Blew all the expectations I had for a guitar clean out of the Water! I got the Dark Blue Aqua One. I named her Luna Because every-time I play her she sends me to the moon Illuminates the very waters of my soul . Yes!

AMAZING

By The one

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

This is definitly a rockers weapon! All the features are incredible. The guitar looks beautiful, especially in blue, the edge III trem works wonderfully. You can easily access the 24th fret, the guitar stays in tune even if you use the whammy bar for hours on end. And the tones you can get from this guitar are also sweet. The single coil puts out wonderful cleans, even though I recommend the neck pickup to put out those low tones like an acoustic guitar, but that's just my opinion. And the bridge pickup is perfect for those sweet leads. Hope you enjoy!

Great Guitar Overall

By Devin

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

I purshased this guitar a few months ago and this guitar is a beautiful piece of equipment. With this, you get all the great tones of the heavy thick humbuckers to the great cleans of the single coil also. As all Ibanezs, the playability is a dream too with the action perfect and being able to slide anywhere on the neck in no time. The price is even great too.

Killer looks, great shredder

By Kevin

from Austin, TX

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

Iۡm more of a LP than a strat driver, but was looking for a 24 fret guitar to do some serious shredding on lighter strings with a whammy bar. Like many others, I noticed the striking blue finish of this guitar on the rack in GC and tried it out. The wizard neck is truly amazingly fast and smooth to play. You will notice that licks just naturally want to be played faster on this guitar. Legato licks will just roll off your fingers, and those arps just seem so much easier to play. Needless to say, the guitar came home with me and I continue to enjoy it. I have been playing this guitar for a couple of years now and it is still my favorite shredder. Feel like playing some Hendrix or even just jam out some 80ۡs hair rock? This ax will deliver. The stock pups do okay, although I can imagine that you could get some more out of this ax with a hotter set. I think they are pretty hot already, as the neck humbucker 1NF4 gets a lot of harmonics and crunch. Even just banging away some power chords sound great. The only complaint I have about this ax is the edge III tremolo. These things are tricky beast and if youۡre not used to dealing with these things, get smart about the proper to way to change strings and keep this thing working correctly. I invested a lot of time playing around with getting the right set up between the back spring tension and the tuners to keep the correct pivot position. After doing some dive bombs and hard pulls, the guitar just never got back into the correct tuning. I began spending more time playing around with the adjustments than playing the guitar I was just about to give up on the whole idea of the whammy bar when I read about a product called the Tremstopper. The value of this device is that you have options to free float, dive bomb (down stroke only) or completely lock the whammy bar. It consists of an arm that attaches to the tremolo block and the guitar body in the tremolo cavity. I installed this device and set if for the down stroke only and it works great. The other benefit is that you can do some serious string pulls with the down stroke locked setting and there is no blurring of the string pull. This blurring results when the tremolo springs allows some flex in the string tension that counters your string pull. This device costs around $50 and is an easy install. I donۡt fault this guitar for the whammy bar issue, as this is an endemic issue of all guitars with whammy bars. The nut locking systems of the Floyd Rose/Edge devices is a big improvement over the old whammy bars that just stretched your strings across the nut and tuners. Not much chance of that staying in tune. However, the Floyd Rose/Edge systems do require a lot of tweaking to keep the proper balance of the pivot and keep the guitar in tune. I read that even pros like Steve Vai have built some special devices to address the issue of the Floyd Rose/Edge tuning problem. Anyway, this is a cool guitar and definitely will meet the urge to shred. In addition, it has got killer looks and is a very solid built ax.

SWEETNESS!!!!!!!!!!!

By Goin' Solo

from Flint, MI

Comments about Ibanez RG4EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for almost 6 months now, I've found virtually no problems with it; I have no complaints. But what I can say is that the floyd rose really does work! I dive bomb all the time, and I never have to tune it. Mainly the only time I actually tune it is when I put the guitar into drop D (it sounds just as good as a regular tuning) and the guitar is beautiful! The transparency makes the guitar look 3-D, as I heard from the people who have seen it. That all from me!
