Edge III Tremolo

No other guitar maker has done so much to advance the art and science of the tremolo than has Ibanez. The Edge III represents the next phase in locking tremolos. Its low profile fine-tuners and two screws in the arm pocket allow easy adjustment of the arm height and torque. The double-locking Edge III trem delivers radical effects and sonic chaos with total tuning stability.

For 2 decades, the legion of Ibanez RG warriors has grown like a virus, thrusting the RG guitar to the head of the metal pack. Ibanez RG guitars' fast, flat necks, rabid pickups, and double-locking trems combine to create sonic demons from beyond the world of mortals.

Ibanez still best bang 4 buck

By Earl Brackett

Comments about Ibanez RG420 Electric Guitar:

After getting absolutely fed up with high-end Fenders (even the signature Jeff Beck will not stay in tune) & Parker's (beautiful design but still not designed to perform like a Floyd Rose) ...I went back to Ibanez and rediscovered that you can buy a hell of a guitar for $600 ! I've owned dozens of guitars and this is the only bridge that I have been COMPLETELY satisfied with. The neck has the impeccable shred quality that Ibanez is known for (perfect size & shape of fret for pinch harmonics, squeals, all that)...if you need to rock for under a grand, this guitar is for you. The fit & finish are flawless, a pocket so tight, it's astounding that Ibanez can put so much value into a mid-level guitar, the pups are even high quality for stock and don't "require" replacements, although they are a bit muddy on the neck settings...if you want a flat out rock guitar for $600, this is your ticket. Put some Seymour's or EMG's on board, string it with DR Hi-Beams, set it up proper, and you'll have all the guitar you need. And one that will stay dead in tune until you need to replace the strings. Let's face it, Fender, Gibson, Jackson, & PRS can't justify the big money, but Ibanez delivers true value & versatility on all models of their guitars...Save your money for a better amp !

Great Guitar

Comments about Ibanez RG420 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is a great buy, i was a little hesitant at first after reading that the edge III tremolo was poo. I soon realized that if you read the manual and actually set this bad boy up right it's an amazing guitar. Ive played a lot of guitars and this is definitly a great peice of equipment. Great tone on all 4 settings. If you set it up right the tremolo never falls out of tune. If your looking for a real deal guitar with great looks, that shreds fast. This is it.

Best guitar ever owned

Comments about Ibanez RG420 Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar about a week ago because i was sick of the Fender Strat i was playing on because it kept going out of tune and had alot of fret buzz. When i saw this guitar for the first time i knew i had to have it the time i played it i was amazed how thin and smooth the neck was so it was great for shredding. The edge 3 tremlo on this guitar is amazing it barely ever goes out of tune. I definately recomend this guitar for someone whos looking for a great guitar that's under $1,000.

Good guitar

Comments about Ibanez RG420 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar a couple of months ago, and i love it. the finish is awesome and the pickups are good. be aware that the edge III tremolo is not the best if you plan on abusing the whammy bar a lot. it will fall out of tune. but if you use it in moderation, this guitar will not disappoint you

Great for the money

By Ryan

Comments about Ibanez RG420 Electric Guitar:

I got this as my second guitar about a year ago and i am still in love with it. The finish is awesome when in brightly lit places (it really brings out the red in the bubinga wood) and the neck is really easy for shredding, bending, and pinch harmonics. The INF1 and INF2 pickups are actually pretty good considering they are stock. The neck p'up sounds excellent when playing clean but doesnt really do any justice on distortion settings. It only sounds "okay" when playing on the 1st and 2nd string above the 12th fret or so but is still a bit muddy. The bridge p'up on the other hand is much better for solos or rhythm guitar and can boom out low notes and scream high ones. The Edge III is an okay trem, but it takes a while to change tunings so i just keep it in Drop D. If you set it up corectly and don't over use it, then it will stay in tune easily for a week. The 5 way selector switch can be kinda noisy when switching and the volume knob doesn't really do volume swells real well but i dont mind, all i do with it is turn the vol. on or off. The tone I also don't use very much, i usually keep it all the way up or almost all the way up, i dont really notice a difference besides it making the sound dull (which i don't like). The locking tuners work well, the overall hardware is pretty stable so the only thing i would replace on this guitar would be the neck pickup and possibly the bridge with seymour duncans, EMG's, or Bare Knuckle Pickups. Another strange thing about the bridge is that out of 3 times a string broke on my guitar, it was the Low E twice, and the High E only once, i just think that's kinda odd. Although this guitar does has some flaws (more pro's than con's though) what guitar doesnt? all guitars are not perfect so his guitar is definitely worth every penny.
