Overview

The Ibanez RG3EXQM1 electric guitar's humbucker pickups and pickup placement provide the hard-edged cutting tone needed for heavy rock.

Since 1987, many players have selected the Ibanez RG as their weapon of choice for visiting sonic mayhem on the metal masses. With the right choice of pickups plus flat and fast necks, the RG has crunched its way to classic status. To the RG's lethal combination of features, RG Prestige models add the comfortable, rounded feel of Prestige neck finishing, drop-dead good looks and great electronics and hardware.

24 jumbo frets offer easy playing for leads and chording, and a fixed bridge design offers thru-body stringing for stronger tone and sustain. Features 2 EMG-designed humbuckers and a bolt-on 3-piece maple neck with a headstock to match the body. The quilted maple top and shark tooth inlays on a 25-1/2"-scale rosewood fingerboard give it a striking both sweet and dangerous look. 24 jumbo frets deliver insane playability for riffers and shredders alike.

Can't beat the price for a guitar that looks and sounds like this one. Only negatives are the neck and headstock binding are painted and not real and the tuners don't feel as secure as my Jackson did. But, when you plug this thing up into a Vox AD30VT amp it screams and growls with rich tone and SUSTAIN that doesn't quit.I researched for a long time before buying and this one kept coming back to me. If you are unsure about which guitar you want, go give this one a play...you will walk out of the store with one like I did. And it looks HOT.

This thing is beautiful and looked ideal for what I wanted. But then I plugged it in... the EMGs on this thing are very cheap and have a lot of noise to them. Plus I put on some .010-.046 GHS boomers on this and it was fret buzz city and they wouldn't stay in tune no matter how I adjusted it. Overall this guitar is not made for down-tuning at all, from what I experienced. Might sound good with small strings and in Standard tuning... This thing is getting returned. I recommend getting a Schecter instead. Looks nice... sounds like a cheap guitar. Good day.

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

I got a great deal on mine only $180! i love this guitar. all the hardware is in good shape and definitally made for hard rock and metal riffs. everthing about this guitar says shred, from the EMG ibanez designed pick-ups to the shark tooth fret job and quilted top. mine is grey sunburst and i love it. the pickup have great sound. the list price was somewhere around $400.00 if you purchase this item expect to get all of your money's worth. i would recommend this axe to anyone into heavy sounds and sharp licks and riffs.

Great Buy!

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

Ok. So I bought this guitar two weeks ago, and I have fallen in love. It's super comfortable for nice palm muting, nice tone and smooth playability. Although I must say that if you order the darker model, the color is actually different than it shows here, it's more like a dark green, but oh well. Great Buy, recommend it highly.

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

My friend got this guitar about a year and a half ago, and I've played it many times. The neck is- ,well.Fast. The fastest neck I've ever rapped my loving hands around. Even though their not true emgs, the pickups still sound wicked in any stile of music, and surprisingly thick when played clean. I have nothing bad to say about this shred machine.

If you don't own one, get one.

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

I have always liked the Ibanez RG's. I never bought one because I do not get along with tremolo systems and I do not like a bunch of pickups. But those necks. I love the big, flat, screaming fast neck. If I was to have someone build me a guitar it would be a hard tail RG with one pickup and one volume knob. This guitar is very close to that. The neck is awesome. You can compare it side by side with anything on the market today. The hardware is solid and it sounds great. I use it for praise and worship music. Of course it rocks hard as this is the guitar most heavy garage musicians cut their teeth on. It also does a surprisingly awesome job at clean stuff. This RG has a relatively high output neck pickup, but it doesn't go over the top clean. It's really awesome. My original plan was to retrofit it with my signature Super Distortion / Pearly Gates set up, but the stock pickups are just fine. I have had it for over a year now and it is bone stock. That is a rare thing as I am a guitar hacker to say the least.

Totally pleased!

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

I'll start by saying that I purchased this guitar as a back-up to my Esp-Ltd ec-500. I played it right out of the box and it sounded GOOD. Not great. However the guitars playability spawned one hell of a jam session. I tried to beef up the tone by changeing the string gauge to 13-56... this neck CANNOT handle that big of strings. The next step was to swap out the pickups with seymour duncan JB & Jazz set. This guitar now sounds as good if not better than my ESP!

Shredder's Delight - price is a bonus feature

By The Big Lewinsky

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

The Ibanez RG3EXQM1 is great for soloing. The neck is flat, slim, and fast. To put how nice this guitar is in perspective, I own 3 PRS's and still had to buy this Ibanez. The playability is excellent for a soloing shredder performing fast runs and sweeps. Of note is that I will probably swap out the pickups and pots. They do not allow you to easily roll back the volume to clean up a dirty tone. That aside, as soon as the pickups are replaced, the Ibanez will be used for "Ibanez night" gigs where the PRS's stay home and the RG3EXQM1 comes out along with a RG740.

Awesome Sustain, Slick, Fast Neck

By J-DUB

from Augusta, KS

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

I'm not an expert but I know what I hear and feel! This neck is amazing. It reminds me of high quality pool cue smoothness. Great action, great sound. Stays in tune rather well. I think I'd be happier with my sound if I switched to a tube amp since the guitar has active EMG's. I use a solid state Behrninger GMX212 amp currently. I spent my savings on the guitar, not thinking that I should couple it with a great amp. Sometimes I wish I had Floyd Rose Trem., but what you get in intense sustain for rock/metal is worth it to me I guess.

Good until you get good

By ScooterOnTheRocks

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

I bought the ibanez rg3ex qm on it's looks and it's neck. Well now I've played it for around 4 months and don't like it as much now, it sounds good but the guitar is only good until you have the experiance of playing something great, people that are starting out will love this guitar, people that can't afford a masterpeice guitar (gibson, esp, fender custom, upper level jacksons, etc) will like this guitar but want more eventually I know thats me. Looking back I wish I would have saved up because now the ibanez sits on its stand more than it doesn't. I like the guitar it's just not a keeper, if I could do it over I would wait but what's life without regrets?

Awsome Guitar!

By T-Bird93

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXQM1 Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

I had one of these babies about a year ago and sold it for a Schecter Damien FR. Well that was the biggest mistake I have ever made and I'm trying my best to get a new one. There are no wrongs that I have seen with this guitar when I did have it, it was a great playing guitar with that 100 percent sound I always looked for and I highly recommend to get this guitar, it's worth its price and that's a promise!
