Overview

The Ibanez RG3EXFM1 electric guitar has the pickups and pickup placement that give you the hard-edged cutting tone you want for heavy rock.

As heavy as it rocks, this Ibanez RG guitar is made of basswood, a comparatively lightweight wood, which makes it very comfortable for extended playing. With a good balance of highs and lows, basswood is right in-between alder and mahogany in sound character. The guitar's flamed maple top not only adds beauty, but just a bit of extra brightness to make individual notes stand out. 24 frets offer you easy playing for leads and chords.

The IBZ V7 (Vintage 7) neck pickup is tight, but bright. Very dynamic for chording and rhythm. The IBZ V8 (Vintage 8) bridge pickup is a warm, yet articulate lead pickup with enhanced overtones. The RG3EXFM1 electric guitar has good harmonics without excessive brightness.

Since 1987, many players have selected Ibanez RG guitars as their weapon of choice for visiting sonic mayhem on the metal masses. With the right choice of pickups and flat, fast necks the RG3EXFM1 is crunching its way to classic status.dynmaics

I can not beilive the amazing quality I got from the price. At first I was turned on by the fact that it is one of Ibanez's only guitars without that wierd clamp tuning made for whammy bars. anyway I started to play and the EMG pickups were just finominal. but a secret that they don't tell you is that the back of the neck is actually flattened so that your thumb can glide along the neck and not lode its spot as well as creating a comfortable fit for your thumb. Therefore leading to playing stamina because your thumb won't be tired. All in all, A great guitar.

best value ever

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

I have been looking for a new guitar for a long time and i finally picked this one over guitars way more expensive. The neck is the fastest i have ever played and the pick ups sound great. The hardtail makes i easy to drop your tuning. The only other guitar I would recommend for any kind of metal would be a more expensive ibanez with a neck-thru-body but this is great for the price.

Wow!

By joehuf

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar about 2 weeks. It sounds so good. I tried a bunch of different brands and models in the store over a couple months. I wanted something with more crunch than my strat, but without being muddy. The sound is thick yet clear... and coil splitting if I want to go thin. I didn't know if I'd like the flat profile neck, but after playing it a few times in the store, I found I preferred it. I hate tremelo's because they're always taking the guitar out of tune. So that is why I like the hardtail bridge on this model. It seems like I'm always running out of frets. And I hate little, dinky frets. So I wanted 24 jumbo frets. This has them. I gigged when I was in high school and shortly thereafter, but I've been a hobbyist for the last 35 years playing rock and blues. So I did not want to break the bank since it is not generating income. This guitar is an incredible value. Looks? I'd prefer the pink sparkle like some of the Daisy Rock models, but ya hafta compromise somewhere when you can't justify ordering a custom built guitar. I can't stop playing this thing. Why don't more people play Ibanez?

Amazing

By Mikey

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

This is one of my greatest guitars, and I have two other Gibsons. The stock pickups are great for any type of music. I'm currently about to change the bridge pickup with an invader pickup for a different tone. The bridge is amazing, it never comes out of tune, which is great, and it works great for any tuning change. I'm recommending this guitar for both beginers and professionals.

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

Very nice guitar it's very light and plays fast. You can't go wrong with the price either. It has a very crisp sound to it and you don't get tired of playing it. I got the grey one and it looks great.

A real screamer!

By Mitchell Casel

from Maine

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

First off, I've never felt such a great neck on such a low cost guitar before, not to mention how spot-on the fret height is. It's such a comfortable feel. Tuning has been just fine for me. I'm not sure why people are having tuning issues, except maybe they haven't fine tuned the bridge yet, or they're writing the reviews before they've broken in their strings. One thing that stood out with this guitar versus others was how pronounced the high-E was compared to other guitars in this price range. The pickups on this baby are impressive, and really make those high-pitched solos scream! One complaint is that once the strings broke in, the low E started buzzing a bit from the 1st to 3rd frets. I had to pretty much max out the string height on the bridge to get rid of it, but it went away. This brings me to my gripe with the bridge. The only annoyance is that on the E-strings on the bridge, there's 4 groves on the base of the bridge for the screws. I've seen this on guitars with a more convex curvature of the neck, but this guitar's curvature isn't enough to justify the grooves. Getting longer screws or a new bridge will help if you've maxed out the adjustments and it's still not where you want it. All in all, this is one of the best bang-for-the-buck humbuckler guitars out there, and you won't regret buying it.

BUY NOW!

By Dakota L.

from Macon, GA

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for about 11 months now. It was the best decision I could have made guitar wise. The pickups are amazing in the fact that they sound like active pickups but you don't have to constantly change batteries because they are passive. Also as I'm sure you will read other reviews, the people who talk about the neck...aren't exaggerating. The thin neck makes it a breeze to play and practice metal customs such as sweeping which is harder to do on fat necks. All and all, this is a great guitar for the money. I play both Metal and Blues mostly and the guitar is completely versatile enough to handle the biting sounds of metal while giving you the option to have that warm thick blues sound without any trouble. Paired with a good amp, this thing will blow you and others away.
