Overview

The Ibanez RG3EXFM1 electric guitar has the pickups and pickup placement that give you the hard-edged cutting tone you want for heavy rock.

As heavy as it rocks, this Ibanez RG guitar is made of basswood, a comparatively lightweight wood, which makes it very comfortable for extended playing. With a good balance of highs and lows, basswood is right in-between alder and mahogany in sound character. The guitar's flamed maple top not only adds beauty, but just a bit of extra brightness to make individual notes stand out. 24 frets offer you easy playing for leads and chords.

The IBZ V7 (Vintage 7) neck pickup is tight, but bright. Very dynamic for chording and rhythm. The IBZ V8 (Vintage 8) bridge pickup is a warm, yet articulate lead pickup with enhanced overtones. The RG3EXFM1 electric guitar has good harmonics without excessive brightness.

Since 1987, many players have selected Ibanez RG guitars as their weapon of choice for visiting sonic mayhem on the metal masses. With the right choice of pickups and flat, fast necks the RG3EXFM1 is crunching its way to classic status.dynmaics

I can not beilive the amazing quality I got from the price. At first I was turned on by the fact that it is one of Ibanez's only guitars without that wierd clamp tuning made for whammy bars. anyway I started to play and the EMG pickups were just finominal. but a secret that they don't tell you is that the back of the neck is actually flattened so that your thumb can glide along the neck and not lode its spot as well as creating a comfortable fit for your thumb. Therefore leading to playing stamina because your thumb won't be tired. All in all, A great guitar.

Excellent

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

This instrument is the finest quality guitar I've ever had the fortune to purchase. If I had the choice between this guitar and a brand new Gibson Les Paul I would keep my guitar in a heartbeat. Great quality, awesome paint design, and absolutely perfect for all playing styles.

great bargain

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

Very good looking guitar. It has no pick guard. The dimensions are a little more compact than many "long horn" style guitar bodies. It is also lighter in weight. I play fingerstyle, and those are desirable features for me. I've had the guitar about 10 days and I have played it a lot. I am still messing with the setup but it was playable out of the box. It sounds good and stays in tune. It had a couple of small cosmetic blemishes... but over all it is a beauty and very comfortable. I bought this sight unseen and have zero regrets.

Top of the Line.

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

If you need a guitar and you're on a budget, this is for you. I know you've prolly read that a billion times, but here are legit reasons. The body is super comfy. The wood is high quality. The pickups are awesome, versatile, low noise. Thing can't leave it's tuning. I play in ranges from Drop A all the way to Standard, never left it's tuning. It's quite a heavy guitar, but that's a personal opinion and I say it's awesome. Bridge is easy to change strings. No complaints here, but for a change in tone, I'll be putting on some passive EMGS or Seymour Duncans. Get this guitar, won't regret it.

RG Greatness

By

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

I have owned this guitar for 3 years and its just amazing how much it handles, I play it heavily almost every day & its is durable. Standard pick ups are great for anything, but I upgraded to active EMGs and its works great. The only thing I think would have made it a complete 5 star would be a tremolo system, but this is a great versatile weapon! LOVE IT, definitely recommend it!

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

This is only my 2nd electric guitar and Ive only been playing for about 5 and a half months self taught. Everyone sis im real good for being self taught, but seeing as ive only played for 4 months at the time i got this, i went with a cheaper guitar. This guitar has an amazing tone, great pickups, its all around a great guitar. And stays tuned very well. The only thing is the black & grey is a little darker, but still looks awesome. Great guitar for any type of music.

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar from GC about a month ago and I can say it is everything I wanted plus tons more. The smooth looks and the awesome tone can't be beat by any guitar for this low of price. The 24 fret neck is great for playing leads, and the tone is perfect all the way up. The pickups are great for playing metal one instant and smooth blues the next. I would recommend this to anyone!! Great buy!! Great guitar!!!

I bought this guitar used and man do I love it.I play schecter guitars I always love Ibanez good looking and plays great .I have 54 gauge guitar strings on it and the action is still great only thing I don't like is the v pickups there not for metal don't care what anybody says so I put seymour duncan blackouts in it. WOW my god man this guitar is so heavy I'm tuned to b,f#,b,e,g#,c# .also play in standard D, I tried a set of e m g 's that were laying around wasn't bad ,but seymour duncan blackouts kill emg's .good job Ibanzez on a affordable guitar ,don't get me wrong if u don't play metal the pickups are perfect it would be good for old school metal I guess .thanks for reading yours trulye m.v.f.

Great Sounding Guitar

By

from Easton, PA

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is the low budget musician's dream come true. I have owned this guitar for over a year now and it still plays like a charm. I have lugged it everywhere. Whether I go to jam with my friends or take it to a gig, it hasn't let me down. The sound of the V7 and V8 pickups pack an amazing punch, The guitar is also very lightweight so there is no strain on my back after playing for awhile. The "gun metal" color of the tuner pegs and bridge will fade after using it for a long time, especially where you palm mute on the bridge. Other than that the finish is nice and the jumbo frets, like just about any other RG, are fantastic.!

Awsome Guitar

By

from Rockville MD

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar back in March of 2010. Its my first guitar and its great. Progressed alot on it. String saddles are very comfortable to rest ur hand on especially when palm muting. Great super low action with no fret buzz. The Wizard III neck has been know for its comfort. Its bolt on but extremely fast and easy to get around on. Cutaway is pretty good but reaching the 5 string on the 22 fret or so isnt that bad if you have big hands. I dropped Seymour Duncan Mega Distortions in this thing and it sounds amazing. Great tone and sustain and great metal. Only thing I didn't like was the 5-way selector which is probably just preference. But with this you can play anything from classical to metal.

My go-to guitar

By

from Cheyenne, WY

Comments about Ibanez RG3EXFM1 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar about a month ago and it has become my go-to guitar. I also have an RG5 with a locking tremolo but this beats it for two reasons - first, it's a hardtail, which is more stable and better for quick tuning changes, and second, it has V7 and V8 pickups instead of the INFs in the RG5. The V stands for Vintage, and they're voiced like a vintage PAF but with more power. The 5-way switch ads even more versatility as you get some Strat-like in-between tones. They also don't get muddy with high gain like the INFs do. Quality is outstanding. The fit, finish and fretwork are exemplary. It also looks beautiful. I have the transparent grey burst version and it looks much better in person than it does in the photo. Overall it's the best guitar I've ever owned, and I've had an American made Telecaster and an American made Gibson Les Paul Special. It fits me and my style of playing perfectly. It may not be for you if you like thick, chunky necks (it's also a little wide for thumb fretting) or traditional looks, but if you want a good looking versatile guitar that can play almost anything, you'd be hard pressed to find something better in this price range.
