Overview

The Ibanez RG3550MZ is a lightweight electric guitar that features a basswood body and the incredible Ibanez Super Wizard 5-piece neck for fast and effortless shredding. The 24-fret rosewood fingerboard is dressed with dot inlays and has an ultraflat 16.92" radius that makes 2-hand tapping effortless. The RG3550MZ guitar's Ibanez Edge-Zero bridge features the ZPS (Zero point system) spring system and offers easy tremolo adjustment, tight tone, and good tuning stability allowing you to perform the most radical of trem effects with flawless tuning accuracy. Ibanez includes a hardshell case with the RG3550MZ Prestige electric.

This Ibanez guitar features the powerful combination of the deep and warm DiMarzio Air Norton DP193 Alnico Humbucker in the neck position, the clean and bright DiMarzio True Velvet DP175S Alnico Single-coil pickup in the middle, and the wide-range, high-output DiMarzio DP155 Tone Zone Alnico Humbucker pickup in the bridge position. The 5-way blade selector lets you play each pickup separately in positions 1, 3, and 5 and will split the humbucker coils with the middle pickup in position 2 and 4.

DiMarzio AIr Norton DP193
The tone of this alnico magnet humbucker is deep and warm, but not muddy. It's hot, but not distorted. It's even got cool harmonics, which are really unusual for a neck humbucker.

DiMarzio True Velvet DP1755
A vintage-style single-coil pickup that's clean and bright, but designed to still sound sweet when picking above the 12th fret. Coil is tuned to a frequency range that's bright but not thin.

DiMarzio Tone Zone DP155
This alnico magnet humbucker is hot enough to qualify as a high-output pickup, but has a wider dynamic range – hard picking will produce a lot of power, and softer picking will be much cleaner and quieter.

If I could only have 1 guitar

By cody a

from San Antonio TX

....this would be it! I have 6 guitars but this one gets most of my attention. I can get most any sounds I want from the pickups. I like the pickup combo so much I'm planning on putting some in another guitar I have. Pinch harmonics are a lot easier on this than my Jackson with active EMG's. Stays in tune great. The thin neck might be an acquired taste but I love it. If you have never put your hands on one I would recommend playing one first before ordering over the net. Makes any other guitar neck I have feel like a baseball bat. Definitely a beautiful, well made guitar. Case fits it like a glove. The only complaints I have is the black fine tuning knobs on the trem have tarnished a little in the last year since I have had it ,but that is probably from me not caring for it like I should. The other is this is not good for switching between standard and drop tuning(no d-tuna available for this trem), but its not made for that and that is what my hard tail Jackson is for. Features- LOVE the pickups! Great, fast neck Quality & Reliability Owned for a year...0 complaints All pots and selector switch feel like new. Look & Feel Beautiful fit and finish I play sitting down most of the time and it is very comfortable

AMAZING GUITAR!

By Zac

from Illinois

This is by far the most amazing guitar I've ever played! Pictures don't do it justice! The stock pickups sound very good, and I can get just about any sound out of it. It stays perectly in tune all the time, and the neck is so thin and fast. I'd recommend this guitar to anyone!

ibanez rg prestige

By 6stringdb

from seffner, fl

this guitar is by far the most solid i have ever played. my s series is no longer my favorite. tone is great, comfort is outstanding. the neck is so fast my fingers tripped over each other the first time i played it. i got the galaxy black because i like a guitar of this price to have the same color headstock as the body. that's being picky..for the price, i would buy 3 more. i love it

HolY COW!!!

By desertmetalhead

from tucson, AZ

wow.... what more can i say? the super thin neck is just amazing, and sustain is really superb doing a whole step bend on the 24th fret... could never do that on any other guitar, and I've played a lot of them. This guitar plays great, i would almost say it plays you, its just so easy. the bridge pickup was a little muddy, i swapped it out with a DiMarzio Crunch Lab and it sings in any kind of tuning. The neck pickup is really nice, overall this guitar sounds great through the Peavey 3120 or 6505, or any other amp for that matter

Superb guitar

By sjman1

from SJ, CA

I played this guitar recently in Guitar Center. It was the Roadster Orange color. It looked, and more importantly, played like a dream. I couldn't set it down for two hours. I was playing all sorts of metal on it, from Slayer to Dream Theater. The neck is amazingly thin. The Edge whammy is one of the best ever. It is pretty much what you would expect out of a signature model like the JEM or the PGM. I would highly recommend it. I only wish I had the money to buy it.

Excellent Shredding axe!

By Rich K

from Rockford,iL

MAn i got this guitar about 8 months ago from a shopin WI, I dont know why it took so long for it to arrive here at GC but whatev...This guitar is basically the Steve vai \ paul gilbert guitars exact same specs except with their own lil variations...but nonetheless this is a true shredders axe! I love it, keeps excellent sustain...only thing is i wish i would of gotten the orange or black one instead of the White one...but either way its a beautiful guitar! 5/5!
