Overview

The Ibanez RG350MDX Electric Guitar takes the RG series further into the metal zone. Many players have selected the Ibanez RG as their weapon of choice for visiting sonic mayhem on the metal masses. With an impressive pickup array, flat and fast bolt-on neck and double-locking trems, the RG has dive bombed and crunched its way to classic status. Though it rocks heavy, the RG350MDX is made of comparatively lightweight basswood, which makes it very comfortable for extended playing. With a good balance of highs and lows, basswood is between alder and mahogany in sound character. Specially placed IBZ humbuckers bring the hard-edged cutting tone heavy rock demands while a middle single-coil pickup gives you sonic versatility. 24 jumbo frets and a fast Wizard II neck offer easy playing for leads and rhythm, and an Edge III bridge offers great tremolo control.

Bought this guitar online. Let me start by saying the neck is very fast and comfortable. The pickups aren't too bad either. Now on to the poor quality issues. The white trim on the pick guard has a very noticeable defect right on top above the pickups. The first thing I see every time I pick it up. Not that big a deal, but unacceptable for a new guitar. The back of the neck has a dark smudge. Looks like maybe a greasy fingerprint that stained the wood. Again, minor, but unacceptable for a new guitar. Now on to the real screw up that never should have made it past inspection. The head stock nut is secured by two screws. One of them is stripped. It took me a little while to discover this. I couldn't figure out why it kept going out of tune so easy, but could definitely hear a "creaking" sound when the whammy was used. I removed the allen screws on the head stock nut that lock the strings in place. Then I noticed the loose mounting screw which was allowing the entire nut to move when the whammy was used. You guessed it, it won't stay tight, stripped! So the whammy is unusable and it has cosmetic defects. Pretty funny because it made it past a number of inspectors. All of which initialed the 'quality' control tag on the guitar.

Poor quality

By Leith Pinckney

from East Jesus, Ca

I purchased this guitar online from Guitar Center. The first one I got had a defect on the pick guard and one of the screws that hold the string locking nut on the head was stripped. The second one I received had the wrong neck. It did not have the sharks tooth inlay. The label on the back of the headstock said 350M but the label on the box said 350MDX. Really hard to believe that these two guitars made it past quality control. I like the neck on these guitars, but will never buy another Ibanez guitar. Guitar Center, however, was very helpful in trying to correct this problem. Third guitar is on the way. It's been about a month since I paid for it.

Great Axe!

By Cliff

from Tulsa, OK

I've had my Ibanez RG350MDX for a little bit over a year and a half and it hasn't failed me yet! The neck glides nice when trying to get up to the higher frets and it also feels good when you do chording at the end of the neck. It took me a while to get used to the Edge 3 tremolo, but it does perform and you can abuse it all you want and it will won't go out of tune. The guitar looks and plays fierce and awesome. The only complaint that I have is that the whammy bar isn't a tighten down model, so if you have to take it out a lot, it's going to come loose every now and again. A great axe, the pickups are beastly, no matter what settings you use, and it's just a great guitar. I highly recommend this guitar to metal players.

Epic guitar

By John

from Pa

I've had this guitar since I began playing 3 years ago and I love this guitar. The neck is amazingly fast and the jumbo frets are a good size for my massive fingers. Of my years playing I've noticed 2 things, 1. my input jack is constantly needing to be sautered at least every 8 monthes for reasons even I don't know, and 2. I found that my single coil pickup is rather noisy when I don't play put as soon as I strum or pluck a string I get the beautiful noise I expect until the sound fades and the buzzing reoccurs. But I found it to be a great starter guitar and it's been my choice for gigs up until this point and I will definately keep this shred machine in my arsenal.

really good guitar

By Corey

from bellingham, wa

Amazing sound, and really fun to play. one thing i realized while playin guitar over the years is that it sucks playin on a guitar in which has low quality sound, is either difficult or impossible to do many technical things on, and/or to make many diverse sounds. and the great thing is that there are the locking pegs so it takes much longer to go out of tune. highly recomend this guitar. Its a great deal

Perhaps the most versatile

By Ray Bundoc

from Washington

Guitar I have ever owned. 4 years ago i was already in love with my art 100. but upon reaching up, pulling this axe down as if from heaven, i was taken again. The tremelo is nice and very very fun to polay with. The neck being a wizard 2 is balanced and comfortable allowing my fingers to run right across. The pickups are amazing as well. on the bridge setting, rhythm, soloing, leads, whatever tickles your fancy is possible.on the neck setting tho, the notes are all articulated, allowing for great runs and a set of good harmonics. and the single coil jus adds that strat sound to anything ur playing. on a cleaner setting, this guitar is just as special, with all the different pickup positions, u can tell the differinces easily. This guitar is definitely one to grab of the rack, no matter what kind of guitarist you are.

jaw dropping performance and cost

By josh spangler

from baltimore, MD

i bought this last june, i have to say i am very impressed with it. super fast neck, low action all things you need to play at your peak. now the tremolo is good and stays in tune ok but i blocked it as it is a hassle to change tunings but i would recomend this to anybody who is a beginner or just strapped for cash

The best

By Rikki Schwarz

from Casselbery, FL

i play alot of metal the fast and melodic. such as protest the hero and the human abstact, and i wouldn't chose any other guitar to play it. i would advise every metal guitar player to get an ibanez rg!!! You can tear up and down the neck as fast as you possibly want!!

ibanez rg350mdx

By jdude

from chicago, IL

This is a great guitar. The neck is amazing. The look and feel will wow you. The pickups are not bad at all. You can scream and play heavy rythms. The middle pickup gets in my way, so I lowered it. I was able to get nice clean sounds with it. The bridge and neck pickups are a little bland, but they are great for stock. I may replace them down the road, but it is not necessary. They pack a bite. The edge trem is pretty good. no complaints. Stays in tune, what more could you ask for. I wish they made more of the rg350 line with maple fretboards and I also wish they carried these in stores. Once again I had to order mine.
