Overview

The Ibanez RG350MDX Electric Guitar takes the RG series further into the metal zone. Many players have selected the Ibanez RG as their weapon of choice for visiting sonic mayhem on the metal masses. With an impressive pickup array, flat and fast bolt-on neck and double-locking trems, the RG has dive bombed and crunched its way to classic status. Though it rocks heavy, the RG350MDX is made of comparatively lightweight basswood, which makes it very comfortable for extended playing. With a good balance of highs and lows, basswood is between alder and mahogany in sound character. Specially placed IBZ humbuckers bring the hard-edged cutting tone heavy rock demands while a middle single-coil pickup gives you sonic versatility. 24 jumbo frets and a fast Wizard II neck offer easy playing for leads and rhythm, and an Edge III bridge offers great tremolo control.

Bought this guitar online. Let me start by saying the neck is very fast and comfortable. The pickups aren't too bad either. Now on to the poor quality issues. The white trim on the pick guard has a very noticeable defect right on top above the pickups. The first thing I see every time I pick it up. Not that big a deal, but unacceptable for a new guitar. The back of the neck has a dark smudge. Looks like maybe a greasy fingerprint that stained the wood. Again, minor, but unacceptable for a new guitar. Now on to the real screw up that never should have made it past inspection. The head stock nut is secured by two screws. One of them is stripped. It took me a little while to discover this. I couldn't figure out why it kept going out of tune so easy, but could definitely hear a "creaking" sound when the whammy was used. I removed the allen screws on the head stock nut that lock the strings in place. Then I noticed the loose mounting screw which was allowing the entire nut to move when the whammy was used. You guessed it, it won't stay tight, stripped! So the whammy is unusable and it has cosmetic defects. Pretty funny because it made it past a number of inspectors. All of which initialed the 'quality' control tag on the guitar.

Good Guitar, Not So Good Tremolo

By Ax

from Nj

Comments about Ibanez RG350MDX Electric Guitar:

This is a review for the Ibanez RG350MDX, Im just going to get right to the point instead of talking about how much i love or hate this guitar. I played this at a Music and Arts store for a good period of time, And i thought that Almost everything about it was great. The Guitar that i played wasn't set up very well so i had to spend 5-10 minutes at the store setting the locking nut up and tunning it. The action on this guitar is fantastic, and it has some pretty decent pickups (occasional hum). The thing that I put me off about this guitar is the Edge III tremolo Bridge. Ibanez doesnt rout out the body too much for their Floating bridge guitars, so you can only pull back on the trem for 1-2 steps, and then you would hit the body. Other wise its a good guitar, but as a warning, you get what you pay for (especially with the bridge).

Comments about Ibanez RG350MDX Electric Guitar:

This is totally worth the money. Ibanez made this guitar for people with a tight budget, and made it worth more then u pay for it. This guitar is awsome, you can move up and down the neck easy and the maple neck sounds good also. The drop lock tuning is sweet. Totally recomend buying this guitar.

Comments about Ibanez RG350MDX Electric Guitar:

This guitar is awesome. I almost am getting this guitar. I was playing it at the local music store near my house and I fell in love with how sweet the playability on this baby is. Fast neck and is nice and easy to play. The color is awesome and the trem is just insane. You won't go out of tune for a long time.

Comments about Ibanez RG350MDX Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar. The neck is amazing. The look and feel will wow you. The pickups are not bad at all. You can scream and play heavy rythms. The middle pickup gets in my way, so I lowered it. I was able to get nice clean sounds with it. The bridge and neck pickups are a little bland, but they are great for stock. I may replace them down the road, but it is not necessary. They pack a bite. The edge trem is pretty good. no complaints. Stays in tune, what more could you ask for. I wish they made more of the rg350 line with maple fretboards and I also wish they carried these in stores. Once again I had to order mine.

Perhaps the most versatile

By Ray Bundoc

Comments about Ibanez RG350MDX Electric Guitar:

Guitar I have ever owned. 4 years ago i was already in love with my art 100. but upon reaching up, pulling this axe down as if from heaven, i was taken again. The tremelo is nice and very very fun to polay with. The neck being a wizard 2 is balanced and comfortable allowing my fingers to run right across. The pickups are amazing as well. on the bridge setting, rhythm, soloing, leads, whatever tickles your fancy is possible.on the neck setting tho, the notes are all articulated, allowing for great runs and a set of good harmonics. and the single coil jus adds that strat sound to anything ur playing. on a cleaner setting, this guitar is just as special, with all the different pickup positions, u can tell the differinces easily. This guitar is definitely one to grab of the rack, no matter what kind of guitarist you are.

Excellent Guitar.

Comments about Ibanez RG350MDX Electric Guitar:

I went to my local guitar shop a couple of weeks back looking for a new guitar that has a metal sound but if i want to play some soft blues or jazz, I could do that as well. Well let me tell you, this guitar is it. The pickups arent 100% the best, but they work on a good amp (i recommend the cube 30x-60x). The bridge is also very good, and the neck is perfect for shredding in the high frets. Buy this if you want to save some money.

Comments about Ibanez RG350MDX Electric Guitar:

The Ibanez RG350MDX Electric Guitar is a really nice guitar esspecially for the price. the tone is nice with a more low and high tones, leaving middle there but to make you use it as nice middle tone. Putting some drive from my amp gives me such a awesome hard metal, and lower the drive and get a great blues sound, with the middle pick up and nice mid tone. over all any style of rock, great buy!!!!!!

Ibanez Doesn't Let You Down

By ZULND3R

from North Olmsted, OH

Comments about Ibanez RG350MDX Electric Guitar:

Excellent guitar. Amazing combination of playability, looks, and power. The pickups are not perfect, but for the price of this baby, you can't beat it. In my opinion, Ibanez has the best bang for the buck out of all the guitar manufacturers. The playability is amazing, the Wizard II neck is pretty awesome (not as good as the Prestige Wizard necks, but hey, this isn't a $1000 guitar). I could recommend this guitar to anyone who likes playing anything with some distortion. Not that the cleans sound bad, its just that it is pretty obvious that this guitar was made with hard rock and metal in mind. Great intrument.

Poor quality

By Leith Pinckney

from East Jesus, Ca

Comments about Ibanez RG350MDX Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar online from Guitar Center. The first one I got had a defect on the pick guard and one of the screws that hold the string locking nut on the head was stripped. The second one I received had the wrong neck. It did not have the sharks tooth inlay. The label on the back of the headstock said 350M but the label on the box said 350MDX. Really hard to believe that these two guitars made it past quality control. I like the neck on these guitars, but will never buy another Ibanez guitar. Guitar Center, however, was very helpful in trying to correct this problem. Third guitar is on the way. It's been about a month since I paid for it.

A great axe

Comments about Ibanez RG350MDX Electric Guitar:

A group of us from work formed a band together and started practicing during the weekend. They all have nice $$ fender strat, tele, and Gibson LP. I've been playing for over 25 years off and on, and I did not want to spend mega $$$ just to impress the guest. I've loved to shredd back in High School in the 80's. So I picked up the RG 350MDX because of the maple fret board w/black shark-tooth inlays. This guitar has the looks, sound, functionality that might cost twice as much. I checked out the mexican standard strats,Epiphone LP,for the same price, but this RG caught my eyes and when I plugged it into my sons spider III 2x12,this guitar beats the other two, hands down. An inexpensive RG with all the guns. My friends were amazed how comfortable it played, and the Edge III bridge stayed in tune beter than vintage style strat style, can do dive bombs alot easier than the strat. The pick-ups IBZ (HSH) are so versatile, it scream, wales, crunch, blues, jazz, classic you name it,it blows my buddies $$$ strat, tele,Gibson LP. I am happy that I got this guitar,it can pretty much can play any style of music.

Very good buy.

By Aaron Hillaker

from Chesaning, MI

Comments about Ibanez RG350MDX Electric Guitar:

Excellent guitar. I'm hoping that it'll be my second guitar. I currently play an Epiphone Les Paul Alpine White, but I need two guitars (Les Paul gives a good, fat rock tone, this RG gives a perfect metal tone.). And on top of the Bridge, tuning system, and the pure tone of this guitar, it's extremely cheap. I was going to save for a JEM... but this guitar is almost just as good, for a fraction of the price... To sum up, if you want a good metal guitar, or a rock guitar even, buy this Ibanez RG; It's perfect.

Comments about Ibanez RG350MDX Electric Guitar:

this was my second guitar and it plays great. the sound is amazing, espesially on a line 6 amplifier. the pickup toggle is pretty cool, but it is kind hard to change the stings because you have to unscrew the 3 clamps on the bridge. other than that it has great sound and easy manueverability on the neck.
