I purchased this guitar because I wanted an Ibanez with a fixed bridge. So far i am very happy with this guitar. The wizard II neck is so comfortable and the emg designed pickup is not bad at all. The neck pickup is a little weak but if your using this for metal its not a big deal. I love the comfort and playablity that this guitar offers and i would refer this guitar to anyone looking in this price range. Great value for sure.

3 Stars... The Truth is.. When This first came out I read the reviews and it looked Great.. thats because they only show the good reviews.. so if your a beginner and you want a decent guitar....this might be a good choice... HOWEVER... The EMG pickups... are not Real EMG's there Ibanez designed Pickups.. They just Look like EMG's. To be honest.. They sound.. wimpy.. if you are looking for something soft but kinda meaty.. this is it... but If your into Punk.. Metal.. whatever..I learned this the hard way.. The distortion will never sound as good as it will on another guitar.. the pickups do not put out enough.. there PASSIVE.... NOT ACTIVE.. there completely different. If your really looking for a edgy tone ..keep looking.. this wont have it no matter How much distortion you use... It wont sound very Hardcore at all .. But If this will be your first guitar.. get it.. if you have had other s.. Keep looking. .......... Also the wiring is the pickup outlet is not done well.. after a few months.. you may have to jiggle the cord to get the sound.. or tape it. DO NOT TWIST THE NUT ON THE JACK.. it will break the wire inside.. (learned the hard way) Also.. They are very Stylish which is what sparked my attention in the begining. .. but theres better out there

Budget with a High Quality Feel and Sound

By

from Wauwatosa, WI

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

Amazing. I've owned an Ibanez RG that I had dropped over $1k on and this one actually sounds better. Wanted a Floyd Rose but I don't really do much with the whammy and I use this one for drop C tuning for a lot of Killswitch Engage. Pickups have a great sound. It could be better on the clean channels but really packs a punch for heavy riffs. Eventually replacing them with an EMG 81 and an 85. This guitar's body is pristine and feels like an $800 guitar. For $299.99 its quite a steel. Even if you're an experienced player, don't be hesitant to drop the money on this one. Trust me. You'll be happy you did.

Small price, small flaws, huge sound

By

from Donna, Tx.

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

This guitar does the job. Beginners will love it, intermediates will be well satisfied with this shredder. I've had this guitar for 4 yrs now. Let me get the minor flaws out of the way: buzzing. Out of the box the guitar buzzes like crazy. There are adjustments that can be made (read the manual!!) to counter the buzzing on this guitar, however you will not eliminate it completely. Nonetheless, buzzing really doesn't matter cause during amped play it's non-existing. There more pros to this guitar that make it a reasonable buy. The emg DESIGNED pickups offer a very good crunch and sustain ideal for rock, but this axe is still versatile and allows for other music styles. The bridge and the tuning pecks are excellently built. This guitar will stay in tune. Action at the neck is good and comfortable picking is possible due to the position of the pickups. Buy the guitar, well, try it out first and come to love it! No regrets here.

WOW!!!!!

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

First let me say that i am a very amateur guitarist, but my old "generic brand" guitar wasn't cutting it for me. The guitar center closet to my house carried this guitar, and i used to go at least once a week to play this guitar, because who can deny the white with black trim? I found this guitar to sound incredible, so i set out to get it. After remembering my money and my savings account and as a birthday present, I FINALLY GOT IT!!! Thank goodness for the Labor Day Sale they had! This guitar sounds incredible and plays beautifully! i have no problems with my guitar! Next, I have to replace my "generic brand" amp that came with my old guitar! (looking at line six amps)

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for over 2 years, and I play it with a Fender Frontman 65R. I bought it as a beginner with the intention of replacing it with a more expensive guitar once I got a lot better, well, here I am, 2 years later, with the same guitar, completely satisfied. Coming from some one who's never satisfied with anything this guitar is a great buy. I still receive compliments on the sound, and the same surprised looks when I say the price.

Awesome

By

from Duncanville, TX

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

I've recently wanted a white, 24 fret great sounding guitar. I compared all comparably priced, some costing more, brands and the sound was the best from extra clean to mean and dirty. Feels like home in my large hands. I had never considered an Ibanez before. For all comparisons we used the same settings and same amp I use at home. For some reason mine has a 5 way selector switch, specs says 3. Positions 2 and 4 sound like single coils much like the Fender Strat Blacktop HH with Rosewood Fretboard. Maybe I got a beta version (?). Awesome sounds. I wouldn't change a thing.

Good guitar, get what you pay for

By

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

I have owned this guitar for a year and a half. It is rugged, looks great plays pretty good but I only have 2 complaints. The pickups aren't so good. The first thing I noticed about them is they gave off tons of noise. I tried different cables, keeping greater distances but for some reason they were always noisy. I replaced them with a Seymour Duncan Jazz for the neck and DiMarzio Super distortion on the bridge. HUGE difference in sound. The second problem is tuning. This guitar is one of the toughest to tune I have ever owned. Simple fix is to have it set up by a tech. I would suspect the tuners may have something to do with it.

It's real good!!

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

One of the best guitars ever!! The sound and playability of this thing are sweet!! The neck is thin and very easy to play. I have a Peavey Vypyr 75, and it's pretty much God's perfect combination. I hope this helps you in choosing your next guitar.

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is excellent. It plays so well i began to wonder how i could play what i was playing. The pickups are just great also, especially for metal. i was able to play it right out of the box, just needed to tune. It stays in tune great, and is lightweight. Get this guitar.

More than I expected

By

from Winder,GA

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

First let me say if you are short on cash and want a great quality highly playable guitar then buy this one ASAP. This guitar is far more than I expected to get for the price. The neck is thin and fast! Even someone like myself who hasn't played in years can produce a grinding hard riff with little effort. I have had it just one day but I already know I made a good choice. This guitar can produce a wide variety of tones and has decent sustain. It's light, well balanced and looks great. I have the black one and it's true that it smudges easily but if this guitar had to have a flaw I'll take it. As far as staying in tune, I beat the heck out of it for 2 hours straight in drop D tuning and then hit the clean channel for a few minutes of Jonny Cash and it was still in perfect tune. I am a skeptic and I almost did not buy this guitar but I am so glad I did. Another great guitar from Ibanez. Buy it!
