This guitar is okay. The neck is awesome, and the pickups are good. But whenever i play the third string ninth fret, the thing buzz's more than a bee. And one of the screws on the tremlo system came loose and when i tryed to tighten it, it striped. i like how thin the neck is though. stays in tune okay.

Terrible

By Daniel Llerena

from Miami/Florida

Comments about Ibanez RG120 Electric Guitar:

This was back when I was a beginner in 2007, I got this guitar and after a week of owning it the guitar fell apart. Sure, I don't expect it to be like my current PRS but it still should be somewhat playable. There are secrets to keeping any guitar with a tremolo in tune so thats not the issue, but the problem was that the electronics completely went and the trem saddles even broke. A week later when I got the guitar back from repair the neck broke as well from the tension of the strings that it could not handle. Save your money and buy a mexican stratocaster if you want a budget guitar, much more worth it.

First guitar

By Lawrence Francis

Comments about Ibanez RG120 Electric Guitar:

This was my first electric guitar. It is an over all nice guitar and has a great tone. The only thing that I don't like about this guitar is that it gets out of tune easily. After using the whammy bar I would have to tune my guitar again. It has a nice look but it is hard to clean the black one. my friend got the white one and its easier to clean. This guitar is great for beginners or for people who have been playing for a while.

Old Newbie

By Shawn Gall

from Havasu Arizona

Comments about Ibanez RG120 Electric Guitar:

Well, I had a Yamaha about 10 years ago and I really liked it, but I couldn't play to save my life even with taking many lessons and months of practice several hours a day. However, once I saw the X Box game, Rocksmith, I decided it must be time for me to take up guitar again because it looked like something that could teach me. I spent several weeks reviewing articles and talking to people, and this guitar seemed like the right price for the level of quality. One of the things that I noticed is that some people said they had problems keeping the guitar in tune. I have had it for several weeks now and play every day but have not had a problem with that yet. I do plan on getting a nutlock eventually anyway because I feel the better I get the more aggressive I will play. I am having a little problem with fret buzz, but truthfully, I would have been surprised if I didn't get any. Other than that, I am extremely pleased and if you are a beginner like me then this one will do ya.

Good Guitar (For beginners)

By Ryan Christiano

from Philadelphia

Comments about Ibanez RG120 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is the first guitar i've owned. My brother actually gave it to me because it had been inactive for two years, which ruined the springs for the trem, thus making the guitar stay in tune very difficult. It has great action, slim neck, and fairly decent pick-ups. Only down-side is the guy at the GC Garage broke my tone knob so know it doesnt work. One tip, dont dive-bomb unless you feel like re-tuning your guitar...

My first wife

By Cody

from Columbus MI

Comments about Ibanez RG120 Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar as a gift from my parents because my other guitar broke. Being around my friends who own high end guitars such as schecters, gibsons, and some epiphones, I am the center of attention. Ive had the guitar for 2 years now, It screams when I put the distortion on, this says a lot because I play with all treble, all drive, no bass or mid, and I get no buzz. It stays in tune forever, Like any guitar a little tweak now and then but it holds up to my drop tunings like a champ. The cleans are great. Its comfortable, slim neck with great action to start, I had mine lowered a bit by a friend, and I sit with it between my legs and its easy to hold and lightweight. I love this guitar and I am loyal to ibanez after this guitar.

A Great Guitar

By Shay Stripling

from Arlington, Texas

Comments about Ibanez RG120 Electric Guitar:

Personally I love this instrument, It has good sustain. I think the pickups are pretty good also. I also like the tremolo it has a good sound to it. Its not a Floyd Rose but it is a good sounding tremolo. I would recommend for a beginner but to me sounds good enough for an intermediate.

Perfect Guitar

By Listy Pardeaux

from Salem, Massachusetts

Comments about Ibanez RG120 Electric Guitar:

This was my first electric guitar; I got it a few years ago, when I was still a beginner. I have played many guitars since, and this one is still the best. I had a bit of difficulty keeping it in tune for the first month or so, but after that I had no further problems. It sounds amazing; more so than my other guitars. I play primarily heavy stuff on it, which sounds fantastic. Gentler stuff does not sound as good. I'd say that it is definitely worth the scant $200 it costs. You will not find a better guitar for this price, so look no further.

Buzzing

By Jessica

from pekin, illinois

Comments about Ibanez RG120 Electric Guitar:

My dad bought me this guitar for my birthday because i have been playing guitar for 5 years now and have always been stuck with beginner guitars. When i tried the guitar at the store i liked it but i took it home and it didnt stay in tune very well. The pick ups are not very good at all, they sound like the bottom one is slightly buzzing while the top one doesnt pick up much sound. Also the whole entire neck of the guitar buzzes. Ive changed the strings because i thought that maybe this guitar was played alot and needs new strings but that did nothing to it.

Great guitar for the money, you get the most value with Ibanez!

By Rocker

from Lowell, Ma.

Comments about Ibanez RG120 Electric Guitar:

I've been playing guitar for 30 years and this is my third Ibanez guitar. Once I played my first Ibanez I was hooked. You can pay 5 times what this guitar costs and not get a better guitar than this one. I would have given it 5 stars but I had to spend a lot of time grinding down the frets because they were way too wide. I also had to spend a lot of time setting up the string/bridge height. On my last 2 Ibanez guitars (RX20 & RG170) I didn't have to touch anything. Don't be scared away by the possible fret grinding... it's very easy to do, just take your time and work carefully. Ibanez Rules!!!

Great guitar!

By Cody Adkins

from Maryland

Comments about Ibanez RG120 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar for christmas in 2009. all i could say was WOW. I bought mine in the Black finish which looks very nice! I instantly fell in love with the look and feel of the guitar as a whole. the neck is fast and smooth, the stock pickups sound very nice as they are the same ones that come installed in the higher end Ibanez RG models, the FAT 10 tremolo is good if you like the strat style bridges. the quality of the guitar was great. but once i started to explore the world of music, i found out the tuners are not made for anything lower the Db/C#. I bought Schaller locking tuners and they work like a charm! I had recently purchased EMG pickups for it, as a want a better sound, and they were a easy installation. I would recommended this guitar for a beginner or anyone looking for a cheap reliable guitar. Kudos to you Ibanez and the fast shipping of guitar center!!
