The Ibanez Premium RG927QMF 7-String Electric Guitar is designed for hardworking musicians. This guitar is for players who push their guitars to the fullest every night on stage and who demand real professional quality instruments, both functionally and visually.
It's crafted by a high skilled luthier to Prestige model quality standards at the Ibanez Premium factory. The punchy American basswood body has made from Premium-grade quilted maple top with a high transparency clear coat and matching headstock. The thin and fast Wizard Premium 7 neck has specially rounded Premium fret edges for smooth play and comfortable neck grip. Custom wound DIMarzio® IBZ-7 pickups with 5-way switching offer the hot, molten clarity you desire for precise, tight riffing while the Ibanez Tight-End R fixed bridge offers great tuning stability.
THE PREMIUM TREATMENT
HAND ROLLED FRET EDGES
This slow, demanding process makes for a smooth, fast playing neck. Generally a feature of guitars costing thousands more, our luthiers round each fret edge by hand. Why? Grab a finger position and slide it quickly up and down the neck: notice that there's nothing there to slow you down.
5 PIECE WIZARD PREMIUM NECK
The thin and fast Wizard neck on RG Premium models is following the same playability and comfort on its Prestige counterpart. Seasoned maple with walnut substrates gives the Wizard its stability.
TIGHT-END R BRIDGE
The Tight-End R Bridge integrates every aspect of the bridge design in rigidness and accracy. Lower profiled bridge design provides maximum playing comfort.
STUD BOLT LOCKS
The more solidly each component is anchored, the greater a guitar's sustain. These stud bolts contain inner set screws that wed the bridge to the body, maximizing string vibration.
DiMARZIO IBZ-7 HUMBUCKERS with ceramic magnets were designed especially for Ibanez and are voiced to harness the drop-tuned harmonica richness of 7-string with power and clarity. The overall tone is harmonically rich and layered, as well as easily adjusted to a variety of musical needs. The tone is vivid but easy to control to your sonic requirement.
Includes gig bag.

This guitar cought my attention because it was pretty much the only 7 string I could find with a hardtail bridge and passive pickups where you can split the coils. I have a 6 string RG as well, so I knew what I was getting into. When I first picked it up out of the box however, I was terrified because it weighed litterally half of what my 6 string was. Once I plugged it in though, it sustained even longer than my 6 -go figure. I also noticed a lamination line in the back of the basswood body -it's two peices of wood (and I'm not talking about with the maple top). I don't know how common this is but it seemed kinda cheep to me. It also didn't come set up with very good intonation, especially on the low B string. When I tried to ajust it myself, the screwdriver it came with started to strip the screw -cheep hardware. It also came with a wammy bar, even though it's a hardtail bridge. Maybe that's just standard Ibanez procedure. All in all, my opinion that is that the whole "premium" thing is just a gimmick. It sounds and plays the same as every standard RG I've played. But I have to say this: it looks 10 times sexier.
After wanting an Ibanez 7-string that actually HAS COLOR, I stumbled upon this guy and knew it was the one. It came tuned to B standard with D'Addario strings that were quite thin (what do you expect). Sound? Absolutely flawless. It has GREAT sustain (beats my other 7-string, which is string thru), the bridge is so fantastic that I don't even know it's there, and the pickups are great for heavy distorted chugs as well as any type of buttery clean that you can think of. Flawless, once again. The neck is unlike any other 7-string neck I've played. It almost feels like a six string neck; very fast, smooth, and thin, but not too thin. I could also tell it had hand-rolled frets, they made sliding up and down the neck a breeze. Finish? You guessed it, flawless. Bursting with color, this guitar is sure to please both auditory and visual senses. Well worth the money. It even comes with an Ibanez gig bag and Ibanez Premium set of allen wrenches.
