I have been playing this for a couple of weeks now, it sounds great any way I want to play it. Acoustically (non-amped) it is fun (certainly not up to a typical acoustic) and sounds good enough. The pickups sound great, the controls are easy to see and use, and having an on-board tuner is icing on the cake. Looks gorgeous too!

I am on my second Ibanez Montage guitar because of pickup problems with the first one I ordered after 50 days of receiving it. I am just beginning to experience the same type of problems as I did on the first guitar but in lest than two weeks of receiving the exchange. I'm totally in love with the style and handling of the guitar as well as the easy playing neck. The sound is awesome when it works properly, but unfortunately there seems to be a glitch in the electronics. With the returns that have been made I'm surprised that Ibanez doesn't put more effort into fixing the problem, and if not, getting rid of it altogether. It's a shame too, because it could be a shining star if it worked well. I'm not sure what I am going to do if this one goes on the blink. I might try a third time but if it doesn't work out then I'll move on and get my money back.

Like the fit and acoustics - electronics non-starter

By RICK TOOMEY

from Pecatonica Illinois

Don't waste your money - do the research. I have owned this guitar for more than two years now. No more Ibanez for me. Ibanez apparently gambled on cheap electronics. This is the first Ibanez I have owned. I bought this soon after it was on the market. On the plus side - I like the body, the balance, the acoustics and the neck. If this was an acoustic guitar, this would rate pretty highly. However shortly after purchase as reported by others, the electronics lost functionality. Coincidently this occurred just after the warranty was out. The electronics replacement quote was approximately $550 (approximately 3/4 the cost of the guitar). Needless to say - not worth it. So I have a very expensive acoustic guitar that has nearly none of the functionality that was advertised. The electronics in this body are cheaply made but experience high mark-up after the warranty. ... It's just a matter of time.

Coolest looking guitar I've seen

By Drew

from Macedonia, OH

Not only the coolest looking guitar I've seen, but for the money a really great sounding guitar. Everyone who has seen it wants to play it and love it. Don't have to switch guitars for the type of music you want. I agree its not a Taylor Hybrid, lets not compare apples to oranges. The best GUITAR for someone who wants to play different types of music. WHAT A LOOKER.

Best Acoustic Guitar I've Owned

By Richard Jansen

from Knoxville, Tennessee

I was hesitant to buy this guitar. It has great aesthetic appeal because it looks gorgeous but my question was how did it feel to play? Well, that was quickly answered the first time I picked it up. It has a slim neck and the body is not bulky to hold. Plays very nice. I was more concerned about all the electronics on the guitar because the more there is, there more that can go wrong. I initially bought another Ibanez but was very disappointed so I sent it back and decided to go ahead and take a chance on the Ibanez Montage. Am I glad I did! I love this guitar and have no regrets. The multiple tones that can be produced with an amp is awesome. I did purchase the one year additional warranty just in case but up to this point I've had no problems. I think I got more than my money's worth on this guitar and consider it the best acoustic I have owned and I have owned several.

Montage, yuk!

By Disappointed Sam

from Kalifornia

I like the guitar at first, tried playing, Number 1 & 2 strings buzzed, so I tried changing strings, I put Elixir Medium Gauge Strings (.013-0.56) on, still buzzing from number 1-E & 2-B strings. No technical manual, no support information, no nothing on the internet or Ibanez website. Not very happy, will return for refund. Very disappointed. The guitar is very visually appealing, other than that a big disappointment.

I couldn't ask for more

By Charles

from Atlanta Ga

a week ago I had never even heard of the Ibenez montage. after reading about it's features I had to check this thing out. so I went into my local GC and the rest is history from the very first chord I was hooked. first of all I could have played it unplugged all day. it is a great sounding acoustic. then I plugged it up and wow the combination of sounds out of this thing is amazing. when I found out it had a tuner, chorus, reverb and distorion all right on board i had to have it. this thing seriously rivals the taylor T5 in sound playability and price. I've had my msc650 for a week now and I am blown away.

a great investment

By Zack Schuyler

from Lake Wales, FL

I have always been interested in the Hybrid guitars but I have never been impressed by the Taylor T5 or any Godin Guitars...The price tag is way to big and they fail to bring a true electric and acoustic sound...I bought the Ibanez about a week ago and it is truly my favorite guitar..As soon as I picked it up I new this is the one...The craftsmanship is next to perfect, the acoustic tone unplugged and plugged in is just huge..great lows, great highs...all the effects are pretty sweet...you can't replace your pedal board but if you are a Worship Leader, or a front man for a band that needs a little crunch now and then along with acoustic in the same set...this is the axe you need...I love it...and my guitarist also loves it..and he plays a top of the line PRS along with a 1970 tele...with over a thousand dollars in about 6 pedals..so if it can please him it can please you!

PICKUP BUZZ WORSE THAN A SINGLE COIL!!!!!

By RCKR425

from Hayward, CA

I played this guitar at the store using only the acoustic pickup. It sounded great so I decided to buy it. I took it home, plugged into my amp and tried the electric guitar pickup with the clean and distortion settings. The pickup buzzed like crazy. Worse than any single coil pickup I ever came across. It has horrible workmanship on the electric pickups like there's a grounding problem. The buzz was so loud that I felt that the guitar would not be usable in a live performance. I immediately took it back to the store and got a refund. The guitar looks nice and the acoustic pickup works great but the electric guitar pickup STINKS.

Montage 650 WOW

By Gary Winkler

from Blaine, MN

I've had this guitar a week and I am thoroughly impressed. When I purchased it from GC the action was a little high but after setup, this guitar is the easiest I've ever played. The multitude of sounds that can be made has made me start to consider dumping my Taylor and my Gibson LP. Why do I need those when this guitar sounds better,is lighter, costs less and is better looking than the others.I can't believe that there was actually 2 more of these in the store. When players realize how good the Montage is, they will be hard to find. Buy soon before the price goes way up.

I LOVE THIS THING!!!!!!!

By Gerald Coleman

from Abilene, TX

I've owned mine a little over a month now and I can't play it enough. The acoustics are great and when you plug it in, get ready. Having the onboard tuner along with the electronics rounds this baby out. If fact I have to be out of town this week and I just wish I could have brought it with me. I miss it!
