Overview

The Ibanez M80M Meshuggah 8-String Electric Guitar is perfectly balanced to deliver a truly great 8-string experience. Martin and Fredrik of Meshuggah worked with Ibanez to achieve this special guitar. The M80M has a 29.4" extra-long scale neck with preset downtuning. This emits a tight and consistant sound all the way down to the lowest note without ever losing playability. The ash body enhances the defined tone even in downtuning.

The Lundgren Model M8P pickup was designed specifically for this guitar and, at the expense of being slightly low-output, delivers an extremely well-defined and balanced tone across the fingerboard, even when playing with a high-gain setting amplifier. The FX Edge III-8 bridge combines a fixed bridge sustain and double-locking tuning stability. Includes hardshell case.

This Guitar is a Powerhouse of Awesome

By Jeremy Royer

Comments about Ibanez M80M 8-String Meshuggah Signature Electric Guitar:

My first initial thought when ordering this through my local GC, was "is it going to be any good?" Once I received it, my answer was an absolute and resounding "YES!" You can actually FEEL the difference in play-ability with the 29.4" scale length. It feels so comfortable to play, even with my unusually small hands. The sound and tone really benefits with the length, too. Every note played is crisp, tight, and well-pronounced. Even played acoustically, it's one of the only 8-strings I've played that you are able hear the low F# beautifully. The Lundgren M8P is hands down the best sounding PUP I've played on. Really versatile with both cleans and leads. Ibanez's premium Indonesia factory (where this was built) really did a great job with this build. A buddy of mine in Germany, ordered one as well, and he and I both agree that the quality is very high. If nobody told you the M80M was built in Indonesia, you'd think it came from their Japanese factory. The look and feel of the ash body is nothing short of sexy. All in all, I would absolutely recommend this instrument to anyone looking for the "Djent" monster, or the progressive player; even with the missing neck pickup. I am extremely happy with this purchase.

M80M ERG

By Dave Lipnicky

Comments about Ibanez M80M 8-String Meshuggah Signature Electric Guitar:

Let me start off with this and move on. The entire experience in getting this guitar from GC was a total nightmare. But I?m here to review the guitar itself not the corp. process. This guitar is as close to everything I could want in an ERG with a few exceptions. Let?s start with construction. The tone wood used for the body (ash) is exceptional with a bright crisp tone. I love the unusual grain and the worn black finish. The neck is made of maple and walnut with a titanium truss rod and to speaks to something Ibanez does very well (necks)! Frets are smooth and finished on the ends well. The 29.4? scale length accommodates many types of drop tuning. I did feel the stock strings sucked and swapped them out for more balanced set giving the proper tension yet keeping things playable. The Ludgren pickup, while being of medium output is a perfect match for the tone wood and performs well under high gain in addition to clean tones. The pots that are installed are of high quality and feel very solid, not at all sloppy or loose. The FX Edge III-8 bridge is stellar and having the ability to lock down this beast and fine tune is an awesome option. Overall the guitar is not very heavy and is very comfortable and well balanced. I have logged many hours on it now and can also say this guitar is not a one trip pony. Am I a Meshuggah fan? Yes! Is their signature model the reason I purchased? No! It?s based totally on specs alone. This guitar is not by any stretch a one trick pony.

Comments about Ibanez M80M 8-String Meshuggah Signature Electric Guitar:

Did my homework as much as the internet had resources for. Had a 1999 Ibanez RG 7 string that I sold as it was singular in sound and was not fun to play; it had a floppy B string so I sold it.
This guitar has all the features I would have employed had I built it myself. Asked for it sight unseen, and it surpasses all expectations.
It is minimalist, but far from a one trick pony. The controls and single Lundgren pickup coax a wide palette of tones...from smooth jazz, to classic rock, to heavy extreme metal as it's endorsers/designers pioneered and envisioned.
Fit and finish are top notch, and extended scale length delivers every bit it was designed to. String tension down to the low F are tight and responsive beyond belief!
    Awesome.

Comments about Ibanez M80M 8-String Meshuggah Signature Electric Guitar:

I wanted an ERG for my compositions and recording studio. I got the Ibanez SRFF806 bass last Christmas, so I set about researching the guitar I wanted.
I had an Ibanez RG 7 string (acquired in 1999), but the B was floppy and it just wasn't fun to play. I sold it 2012. After much homework, I settled on the M80M.
I usually don't like signature models but this one had the features I'd have chosen had I built it. Got it for Christmas last month sight unseen.
The longer scale length lives up to all the goals it was created for. The string tension down to the low F is unmatched by any ERG I've played in its price range on the market.
The setup is minimalist but it can crank out anything from smooth jazz, to classic rock, to the djent metal its namesake pioneered and continues to reign! Far from a one trick pony! Inspiring design and tones!
The Lundgren pickup is awesome, and the craftsmanship that went into this guitar is breathtaking!
      Stoked!!!!!

Comments about Ibanez M80M 8-String Meshuggah Signature Electric Guitar:

Pined over this for a couple years. Did as much reading as I could find and watched as many videos the internet offered.
I don't usually dig signature models, and have always built my own if I wanted something not offered on the market.
I had a 1999 Ibanez RG 7 string in Cherry Fudge that I sold as it never sounded great and the B string sucked.
Decided to get another Extended Range Guitar, and decided to get what I wanted instead of cheaping out. Asked my wife for it for this Christmas and got it sight unseen.
Tuned up out of the box and fit and finish were top notch. Frets and ends were dressed silkily; and do not let this simplicity of the features fool you! This guitar plays like a dream and sustains for days (rings out like a Les Paul!)
The Lungren pickup is far from a one trick pony, and I find it extremely versatile. I find the single tone knob very articulate and have always played by employing hand/finger articulation for tones/styles.
A real joy to play! The longer scale lives up to everything it promised, and I am so happy to own this guitar.
I find tones it delivers from clean jazz, to overdriven rock, to sick down tuned namesake (Meshuggah) metal!
        Loving it!!!!!!
