    Comments about Ibanez M510E A-STYLE Acoustic-Electric Mandolin:

Listening again to the great Led Zeppelin records of my youth, a burning desire suddenly developed in my head to add The Battle of Evermore, Going to California, and all the great Led Zeppelin mandolin songs to my own personal playlist, and of course I don't mean mp3s. Did a fair amount of research and ultimately chose the Ibanez M510E.

She is well constructed, very attractive, and sounds as good as she looks, with a nice-looking and nice sounding spruce top and mahogany body. Already knew Ibanez quality to be excellent from other Ibanez guitars I have owned. Also, she has a single-coil pickup with tone and volume controls so no problem being heard in a band. At something in the vicinity of a couple hundred bucks the price certainly fit the budget.

In general, guitarists should have a pretty easy time adapting to the mandolin. If you don't have guitar experience, I think this mandolin also would be an excellent learning instrument any for an aspiring mandolinist.

What I most love about this instrument is the gorgeous sound she makes. Her chime-like droning seems to emanate from the Angels of Avalon themselves, waiting at dawn in the mists of Bannockburn for the king to arrive on the battlefield. Chilling, thrilling, and just gorgeous!

My only hesitation was the tuning engines, about which I'd heard mediocre reports. The luthier changed them out for new Grovers after opening the box at my request. She now holds her tune very well with Grover tuners. Also got a complete set-up from the luthier, which I recommend as money well spent, unless you like doing it yourself.

You can certainly pay many hundreds or many thousands more dollars for a mandolin, but it's been my experience what matters is not the name on the headstock or how much you paid. It's what sound comes out of the speaker.

And this bonny lass delivers through the speaker as sweetly as any mandolin I've heard lately.

Amazing Mandolin, would recommend to anyone!

    Comments about Ibanez M510E A-STYLE Acoustic-Electric Mandolin:

Great little mandolin! This is my first mandolin, im just learning, and playing on sunday mornings in my worship team at church. The acoustic electric pick up sounds great, and has a good high and low tone to it!! I would recomend this to anyone who's looking to buy their first mandolin. I've looked everywhere and this is the highest rated one I found for a great low price and I would agree that it's great! I would also recommend buying the planet waves leather strap thats on this website! I would recommend buts not necessary, changing the tuning keys. I would highly recommend putting on new strings when you get it, because the stock ones aren't that great because they tend to add a buzz... I love the Sunburst color! Its absolutely beautiful!!

Excellent Electric Mando for the money

    By sam feldman

    Comments about Ibanez M510E A-STYLE Acoustic-Electric Mandolin:

I play a Godin A8 which plays great through any amp and is a great instrument but the mando is a narrow instrument for my fingers. I used to own the Fender 52 which is a great cheap alternative for plugging in. This Ibanez I got after buying a junky cheap AE mando that had bad action and would not stay in tune. I wanted a mando as a backup and that was easier to play with low action and light strings to practicwe. I knew about the Fender and had one. I went to GC and tried this one out - the neck feels strangely solid as it sems to be a continuous piece of wood. The electronics sound great - I had them put .10s on (very light) and adjust the action. I love the mandolin - I think it is best to try a mando first - the spacing, the tuning seem to be solid obviously the tuners and stuff are not the highest quality but for the price IT IS A great backup, spare, or beginner mando for someone who needs to plug in, needs it to stay in tune and wants to try it out in the store. I am not sure if I would go for this or the Fender again but I think I lean towards the Ibanez!!

    Good Beginner Mandolin

    By Parker Allen

    from Atlanta, GA

    Comments about Ibanez M510E A-STYLE Acoustic-Electric Mandolin:

Really I would give this mando a 3.5, but it's good enough to round up instead of down. For a beginner, it is a good mando, but I will probably end up buying a better one in the next few years. The tuners don't stay in tune very well, so I have to keep re-tuning. Also, the intonation is horrible. I will be getting it set-up as soon as possible. the finish is nice, and it sounds good for the price. Overall, I would recomend this mandolin, just keep in mind it is beginner quality.
