Precision-sculpted basswood body is light on the shoulder with otherworldly looks and great high-fret access. Its vibrant resonance is translated into endless sustain through DiMarzio humbuckers -- a PAF Joe at the neck and a Fred at the bridge. Joe's choice, nice choice!

By Mic1412

from Buffalo, NY

Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:

I have played this guitar few years ago, at a music store in Boston. You might think the looking isn't that attractive, but hey! Play it, you will find it really hot! Just like its color, JS 1200 has a really hot solo tone, it is aggressive, and it can also be gentle. I had compared this guitar to some other Ibanez guitars such as JEM 7V, AT300, and even JS2000. I found out one thing about JS 1200 is that the feeling of the grip is so great that even though I have small hands, I don't have any problem playing it. It is smooth! The finger board is awesome. JS1200 is a dynamic guitar; it is nice to play fusion, Jazz, blues, and rock. What I really like about JS1200 is the neck pick-up, PAF Joe pick-up and the edge pro system. If you are looking for this guitar but worrying about the price, don't wait! Because it is really a good choice!

An Amazing Guitar

By RipThorn

from WA

Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:

I first played this guitar in the store and was very impressed. The action is smooth and fast and the humbuckers have a great sound. If you need to change the tone, you can coil tap. The body is very thin and light yet incredibly resonant. The neck is fast and thin and this guitar is just all around very streamlined and meant for lots of play time.

Ibanez JS1200

By mlogans91

from Orinda, CA

Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:

This is Joe Satriani's custom Ibanez, which includes two amazing sounding humbuckers, the lightning fast neck which has come to be expected from Ibanez, and a coil tap for that bluesy sound. This guitar plays great and sounds even better, if you are a Joe Satriani fan and have money to spare check out a JS1200.

Awesome Guitar!

By Brandon

from Crescent City, California

Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:

I'm an intermediate guitar player but seemed to notice an immediate increase in fluidness of my solos and scales when I got mine. It's not too heavy so you can rock out for quite a while and has awesome tone. My biggest gripe about it is that it's really easy to accidently bend the high e off the neck, it's kinda a pain to take out of standard or drop d tuning and its a little uncomfortable to sit down and play with. But since I usually play in standard and you cant REALLY rock unless you're standing up its perfect for me!

Great Versatile Guitar

By vanwilke

from Cincinnati, Oh

Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:

I've had this guitar for over a year now and play in a dance/rock cover band doing most of the standard 70/80/90's hits. This guitar is so versatile with the coil tap that I can get almost any sound I need from the guitar and a few pedals into a peavey classic 50. Extremely easy to play with low action. Pickups are clear and give a great rock sound. I mainly use the bridge pickup to cut through the mix (as I only use this in a live setting). The only thing I've changed on the guitar is I blocked the tremolo to dive only. My only issue really is some of the low frets are a stretch for my hands. Prior to this I played a peavey wolfgang but have since moved that to my backup and exclusively use the JS1200. It is just a blast to play and I have a hard time putting it down. So I recommend going and trying it out especially if you cover a wide range of genres.

Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:

If you like playing blues and such this a nice guitar the reason i gave it a 4.5 for features is because mainley of the pick ups i like to use E.M.G. pickups on all my guitars but their way to expensive over all this is a nice guitar.

Satriani Ibanez

By jonschemicalromance2

from Phoenixville, PA

Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:

This guitar is pretty good. I just tried it out today, and I did like it. It really does work best with blues and classic rock, which really isn't the kind of music i play a lot. The other flaw I noticed was that occasionally during solos, the bottom E string bends off the fretboard pretty easily, even when you're not bending it. but otherwise, it's a pretty good guitar.

    Best Uses

Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:

Very nice feel and an extremely comfortable neck. Lightweight body with curves that make it a pleasure to use and practice with. Not cumbersome like a Les Paul log and much less weight. The smoothness and shape of the neck make it easy to solo and bend strings without getting hand cramps.

The push/pull pots work great and allow you to really change your tone without any major click, buzz or hissing thanks to the low pass filter. I have both the steel tremelo arm as well as the carbon fiber tremelo arm thanks to Rich Harris.

My first Ibanez JS1000BTB (1997) had to be sold due to finances so I replaced it with another JS model 20 years later and I can honestly say, no regrets. The tone from these pick ups are much more fluid and yet still have plenty of punch to spare. Screaming highs and ballsy lows! And in between with a clean channel, nice and melodic.

I can't stress enough how comfortable it is to play this guitar! Compared to my practice rig (Fernandes Dragonfly x) it just feels much more comfortable in every possible way. The smooth contours of the body make it a breeze to get to the lower frets for the highs and then easily back up to the top of the neck again with ease for the lows. It doesn't feel as if your carrying a toolbox on your shoulder either.

Best part to me is the Floyd Rose tremelo. Unlike some guitars that seem to always go out of tune as soon as you get halfway through a song, the FR system stays in tune whether your dive bombing or Mick Mars style screaming it. It always stays in tune regardless of how much you whammy the trem.

The finish is almost perfect with some very small waves in the bottom towards the trem, which I already knew about. I've had 4-5 other guitars before and I won't bash the mfgs but some of the tried and true that have been around for a while charging premium prices for mediocre built and finished guitars need to work on their quality. Of all the mfgs I would trust only Ibanez and PRS to be honest but that's just me

      Outstanding guitar

      By Randy

      from Newmarket on

Comments about Ibanez JS1200 Joe Satriani Signature Guitar:

I have had my guitar for about a year and this guitar has be one of the nicest playing instruments out there. The neck action is really smooth moving up and down the frets. The pickups produce beautiful clean or dirty rich tones. The only knock I have on it is the tailpiece which still gives me fits in not staying in tune for very long. I have taken the guitar in for setup and have been told that it's design comes from Vanhallen out in 80s. I am still working on a cure.
