Comments about Ibanez Iron Label RGIR27FE 7-String Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups:
If you're looking to get your feet wet in 7 or 8 string guitars, this would be a fantastic choice. The price and playability of this guitar offers up awesome value. Some people love EMGs some hate them, but you know the sort've tone you'll get with them. The basswood body along with emgs, gilbrater bridge and thin wide ibanez neck supplies a highly playable, clear and punchy sound. The specific guitar i played was well set up, but I don't know if that's typical of iron label quality control. There is a 26 inch long neck give or take a little, I don't know the exact specifications. It's not gigantic like the fretboard of an 8 string, and I found it to be nearly as playable as a standard 6 string. This is a no frills 7 string that will allow for the guitarist that is looking for an instrument they can progress their skills on. It would be considered an intermediate instrument, but it is highly playable allowing for proper execution of advanced picking techniques and fingerings. The string tension was adequate on the factory strings, even when the bottom string was tuned down to A for drop A playing. A floppy bottom string is more of a problem for 8 string guitars. This instrument is definitely worth checking out.
