Meet Ibanez's new made-for-metal guitar series, Iron Label. Working from the chassis of their famous RG, they modded and tweaked with the heaviest of metal in mind. The RGIX28FEQMs quilted maple top and basswood body hits that perfect formula comfortable weight and rich in sustain. With jumbo frets and bound ebony fingerboard, playing speed and comfort are carried to a new level by the original innovators of the fast neck, with their latest Nitro Wizard-8 neck design.
No matter what your signal chain, an EMG 808 in the neck position and an EMG 808 in the bridge guarantees a thick, complex distortion from which to carve your signature sound. It also has a reliable Gibraltar Standard 8 bridge, and a performance-enhancing killswitch that puts you in command of a head-turning strobe effect. With the purposefully Spartan Iron Label, you won't find a feature here that doesn't contribute directly to waking the dead.

Comments about Ibanez Iron Label RG Series RGIX28FEQM 8-String Electric Guitar:
This guitar is incredible. First off, the finish looks so much better in person. It's a very nice shade of red, and the quilted maple's character really shines under the light. I've read about people not liking the abalone and gold hardware because it seems "gaudy." In person, it all works so well together and really makes this guitar look elegant! It's such a beautiful guitar. The playability of this guitar in my opinion exceeds the standard for this price range. The neck is very comfortable and so easy to play on. The fret edges are nice and smooth, which is something that is often overlooked on guitars in this range. The fretboard is incredibly smooth, and the nitro finish on the neck makes it so nice to play on. It stays in tune very well, and even down tuning, it still plays exceptionally well. The sound is phenomenal. People seemed to be "here or there" on EMG's, as was I. But with this guitar, they're amazing. They are so articulate and clear, even with very high gain on the lowest strings. The low notes have a nice, focused sound, along with a great growl. The sustain is awesome. Playing leads and solos is very easy with these pickups because they're focused and even throughout the full range of the 8 strings. The clean is very smooth, and it was very easy to get a very nice tone out of these, especially in the middle position. There's no harshness to the tone at all, clean or distorted. It's all very smooth. The overall setup was perfect from the factory, and the stock strings (while light on the low end for my preference) still played great. The bridge is another thing that is very impressive about this guitar. The design is genius. The top of the bridge is rounded, which means it's radius matched the fretboard, making setups much easier. It's a very solid bridge that holds notes and sustains great. There's so much room for the saddles to move for intonation, too! The killswitch is also a fun bonus. A lot of guitars around this price range, to anyone like me who can be nit-picky, have finish flaws, especially around the pickups where the polyurethane doesn't quite meet the end of the wood all the way around (You really have to be looking for it) With this guitar, and all the Iron Label's I've seen, it's very minimalistic, and that's a huge plus. Perfection is hard to come by. So if you're looking for a great looking, great playing, and great sounding 8-string, this is the guitar. The build quality is top notch on this guitar. Fantastic job by Ibanez, and even though the Iron Label series is geared for metal, which it does brilliantly, the tones are great for any style of music. Awesome.
