I've had this guitar for about 3 years now...only problem I had was that I broke the pickup switch (my fault). Basically your usual 2-humbucker guitar with some unique styling. It's bigger, which is both good (rich tone) and bad (hard to maneuver/bigger case needed). As long as you're not trying to do spin kicks or somersaults, though, the size shouldn't bother you, because it's by no means heavy. The stock pickups are VERY toneful. They're a little weaker than most stock humbuckers, and a tad bit bassy, but nothing a litlte EQ can't fix. If you want something unique but still well-built, this is your guitar.

Best guitar from Ibanez

By guardcats3

from OKC OK

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

I've got the 1980's Korean IC 400 and it is the best guitar that I have played besides my Les Paul. The guitar is a little heavier than the newer models and the pick ups have some earth shattering distortion when played on an all tube amp. Sitting or standing it is easy to play, the neck is thin and fast. Ibanez out did themselves on this piece of art.

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar off eBay awhile back and have had no thoughts of ever replacing it. The fretboard moves smoothly and is overall easy to play. Great guitar for any style of music and has a great design to boot. Highly recommended

Fantastic

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

I've wanted this guitar for 3 years now, and when I got it a month ago, it sounded amazing. Probably the best quality I've ever heard. I tune it down to a C to play System of A Down songs, and it sounds great. I use it with a Line 6 Spider III 75 Modeling Combo Amplifier,it's great. It's totally worth the money even though I got mine 200 dollars off.

Pure Greatness

By HEAVYMETAL

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is one of the nicest I've played, it features the AH1 And AH2 Pickups, and the sound they generate is awesome. The Look is great, and also alot diffrent from most other guitars. The neck is great, it provides better movement when your trying to go from fret to fret quickly. It is also very sturdy, it can really take a beating (not that I would give it a beating on purpose)If youre going for a guitar with a nice sound, look, and reasonable price, this guitar is for you.

The Iceman: No limits

By MichaelB

from Pilot Point, TX

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

I played the Iceman at a Guitar Center near where I live through a combo Line 6 Spider Amp, I was using Reverb + the Insane amp setting...and I have to tell you, I've never heard anything so earth shattering. It sounded amazing! The pickups on the Iceman are great! There could be a little more customization of the tone on the guitar, but overall it's a great guitar. The unique shape is also a plus!

The Iceman Cometh!

By Raistlin

from Aurora, IL

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

The Iceman...classic guitar from Ibanez. Notably played by Paul Stanley (before he switched to Washburn and Silvertone...why Paul? Why?), J Yuenger, and Darren Malakian of System of a Down. The Iceman 400 features the classic black finish on a mohogany body giving it a beautiful tone and great sustain. And the Stock pickups are just as good as the rest of this axe. The 3 piece neck is smooth and plays well. The set neck joint helps the sustain and playability. The Cosmetic construction of the Iceman is well balanced and the large protruding "horn" on the lower side of the neck allows for very easy access to the upper frets. Overall The Ibanez Iceman is worth every penny put into it. You wont be disappointed with this Guitar

The Best. Simple as that.

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is one of the greatest guitars I have ever played. I first saw it in a System of a Down music video and I thought I would try it out. I picked it up and I loved how it felt instantly. It's a very very nice guitar. The tone is impeccable, comparable to my Les Paul, if not better. I use this guitar for everything I play (blues, metal, classic rock... ) and it always sounds awesome. The pickups are very nice, they scream beatifully and I love it. Ibanez really did a wonderful job here and I truely recommend it to anyone.

Feels great, plays great, sounds amazing.

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

I love this guitar. It has one of the most incredible sounds I have ever heard from a Ibanez. The action is amazing. The shape of the guitar is one of a kind. Its a little bit neck heavly. But the over all weight of the guitar is perfected.

All around great guitar

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar has a great look, and an even better feel. The tone is killer, a perfect combination of bite and attitude. I love the seperate volume and tone knobs they really let you tweak the guitar's sound to your liking. I also own an SG, and this guitar I'd say is as good or better, great deal for the money. I'd highly recommened it, great tone, awesome looks, need I say more? Go buy it now, thank me later.

KISS or SOAD

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is not only a very unique and extremely good looking guitar, it has a tone to its own. It fits in to any genre of music whether metal to punk. When playing clean it sounds pheonominal. It is a difinite pick of mine and it also has a very affordable price to it. Ibanez outdid themselves with this artwork.

Best Guitar In The World

By Iceman720

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

I have had it for about 2 months, but i have been playing it for a couple of years at the stores. It feels great and its sounds great too. Two of my top 3 favorite guitar players, Herman Li(#1) Daron Malakian(#2) and Sam Totman(#3), use that guitar.

Another Great Guitar

By Audio

from Earth

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

First of all, this is one of the best guitars ever. My dad took me to the Guitar Center to get a new guitar. At first I was going to get a Schecter but the model I wanted wasn't in stock. I started looking on the shelves and on the very top row I spotted the guitar I was wanting since I started playing. Since it was on the top only 1 or 2 people have played it, and it was in perfect condition,so my dad got it for me. The only thing wrong with it was that a strap pin was missing. The nice people at the Guitar Center hooked me up with some free Planet Waves pins(i favor planet waves mostly) that hold on nicely. It sustains very well since the neck is set. It isn't heavy at all, but I would recommend getting a comfortable strap. Playing sitting down is a little hard but standing is perfect. Personally I don't like the pickups too well but they get you by. Later I'm gonna replace them with some EMGs. The tuners are fine and stay in places for a while. It is perfect for metal since it is an Ibanez. The neck is very thin and plays fast. The fretboard is nice as well. The shape is perfect for me since I love odd shaped guitars. Also my hero Daron Malakian plays them.

Waiting 20 Years

By PBS

from Chicago

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

Back in the day, when Paul Stanley first started using the Iceman, I knew that would be the axe for me one day. Twenty years later, after a good decade of not playing, I went to get a guitar for my stepson. No intention of getting one for myself. He took home a nice starter BC Rich, and I got the only Iceman in the store for myself. Birthday present for turning 40. I have owned and played dozens of great guitars over the years, but NOTHING has come as close to the sound, the look, and the feel I have always wanted out of a guitar! Worth every minute of the 20 year wait, the best value on the market. So now I have a lifetime of pleasure relearning my old KISS, Priest, Nugent and other songs. The Iceman makes me feel like I am 18 again. I would buy a hundred more!

Great Buy

By S.s.DEATHSTAR

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

I was very surprised when I picked this guitar up at my local guitarcenter. It's sound quality, and wide variety of playing genres make it a great investment for a budding musician, or even someone who just loves to play different things. This guitar is worth every penny and is an all out great buy. Whoever says otherwise, listen to system of a down because you obviously don't know what you'r talking about. Out of the 5 guitars I own, this is probably the best sounding in my price range, and will be my next purchase.

Iceman

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

I really liked the iceman alot when i first bought it. a few weeks ago. I have played other types of ibanezs but this has to be maybe my top 1 to play with now. i get the sounds off i want. its not like other ibanezs it has its own style and all. i play on a marshal amp. and it sounds wonderful and im about to buy a crate for fun to see how it sounds and all. If your thinking about buying it i would really think about this one because its good i loved it. but its not for everyone. some dont like the body of it and if u think about it its not about the looks just the way it sounds is the important part. u have to really get to play it to start to understand it better like with all amps udo.

My favorite guitar

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

This is one of the best sounding guitars I've ever heard in my life. I got in december 2005 and it still sounds as great the day I got it. It sounds great on any kind of amp too. Its shape is very unique and so is the paint style. If you don't have it, get it, if you do, keep it. Ibanez rocks!

Sweeeeeeet Guitar

By xdeaththrashcorex

Comments about Ibanez Iceman 400 Electric Guitar:

Like a lot of people who own this I first noticed the Iceman series from System of a Down's Daron Malakian. My musical tastes have moved beyond Nu Metal and similar styles, but the IC 400 has followed me the whole way. I've owned it for almost a year now. The design is awesome. It's a good quality Ibanez, which means it plays incredibly well. The strap buttons will probably feel a little awkward first but they're pretty easy to get used to. I play through a Marshall Combo and it sounds great. One problem I've had with this guitar is that it seems like the positioning of the bridge puts some strain on the strings. I clean this guitar about every two days, but In only a few months I broke 7 low E strings. Overall this guitar is downright awesome. When I purchased this my friend bought a Schecter C-1 Hellraiser, which I've heard a lot of good things about and have actually played it myself on several occasions, just doesn't quite reach the Iceman's level of playablility and sound. One thing in particular I've noticed about this guitar is that it performs exceptionally well compared to other guitars in Drop-C tuning. That's Drop-D, and then all strings down one whole step. It just has a great sound to it. This guitar performs best on rock and heavy metal and has a grea clean sound, but I've also put it to good use with Hardcore/Grindcore/Death Metal/Thrash Metal, and even Black Metal. Thanks, Ibanez!
