I selected this package Because of the price, and because the sales person told me it would be more suited to playing metal than the other packages I was interested in. I am a total beginner, but this package had everything I needed to get started. The range of sounds it can produce is pretty good. It goes from nice and mellow to a nice deep and rough tone which I love. All I need to do now is practice, and learn to play. The only problem I have is the guitar is heavy in the neck and tends to dip down. Other than that I don't have any other issues. I would recommend this to anyone looking to start out.

I've had this for about 6 months now. I got it with no former experience, but wanted a started kit to get going. I got this kit instead of the others because I liked the guitar look, and wanted the dvd. I liked the dvd, it had some good points and was helpful to me as a beginner. It also was very nice to have a guitar case, picks, and a tuner. The amp is decent. It has a clean sound, I've never had it really loud, so I don't know how well it maintains quality. The guitar works, I think the pickups could be better, but it works. I replaced the strings soon after getting it, the original ones weren't great. It works, and is a decent guitar. I wish though I would of spent more to get a better one, with better pickups. It's a good starter guitar, and the kit has everything you need too. Just get extra strings.

Great starter pack. One thing I didn't like about it though. The amp didn't have much effects, it only has distortion, volume, treble and bass. But otherwise, great.
This is my first guitar i have ever owned. It plays great, has amazing sound, but i recomend you buy a new amp and tuner. The amp is very quite and doesn't have very good sound, and the tuner is just strange and not very accurate. I also recomend replacing the strings right away, because mine were very hard to tune, and broke very fast. Otherwise, it is a very amazing guitar and totally worth buying. i have had it for over 2 years now and im still happy with it.
This is guitar is my first guitar. I must say it is pretty good. I love the way it feels, its weight (somewhat heavy, not too wimpy), the little speckles of silver, etc. It can hold a note pretty well. I do recommend, but buy picks and strings immediately. The stock strings were uber hard to tune and popped in like two days! I also recommend getting a tuner, because they one it comes with is pretty weird. But otherwise, this is a great pack. P.S When I got the guitar...the frets had a little oxidation...but nothing i can't clean....
This is a very impressive guitar. Right out of the box...after tuning it...the action was setup for fast aggressive playing and even the strings were without a need of change. The tones and sustain are fantastic and its easy to envision that you are playing a more expensive guitar. Let me just say this... the amp is only a practice amp and even with the distortion switch that it offers...if you are serious about playing and are more than just learning or an intermediate player that is looking for an axe that will give the tones and sustain that you are looking for without spending alot, this is that guitar. (Let me just add that the web picture does not do justice to how beautiful this guitar is. the black is more of a liquid black and contains an element of sparkle to the finish) So that being said...I purchased this guitar knowing that the amp would not be up to what I wished to play... so with the money I saved in this guitar and package...(the strap is short for someone of my size, but the case is a great bonus)...I picked up a -Fender Mustang I- amp, which makes this guitar more than a joy to play and with all the features gives hours of enjoyment that will keep you playing and noodling around until your fingers just wont work anymore. The practice amp that this guitar comes with is better than many of the practice amps I have seen and the distortion feature is nice...though it does make more of a muddy sound than I would like. The distortion button takes the place of the usual over-drive button found on other practice amps, so be aware that you will get the watts that you get with no boost. The pickups are very clear and give a great crunch to the Metal player as well as can play very clean when that solo comes up. The volume and tone knobs are very light which allows me to make adjustments while playing, where an opening riff may need to have the volume tapered off some as the rythm kicks in....(such as in the opening riff to "Sweet child of mine" for example)... Again the action out of the box is very fast low action...and the steel of the frets is large enough to make is very tough to fret buzz... plus with distortion, if you do make a mistake, its less likely to be caught. The neck has a perfect shape and matte finish which allows for some really fast playing from quick movable chords like power chords to multi-note solos. the neck is very thin and really works with smaller fingers and makes fingering the low E with those pesky 3 and 4 fingers...(ring and pinky)...really simple. Thus this is a great starter guitar for the younger guitar player as well as the more seasoned. The tuners are solid and seem to be very good, and I havent had any problem with the guitar going way out of tune...but if you play it, it will go out of tune to some degree now and again...thats normal as the strings settle in, so dont let that throw you. I played for several hours and only had to tune the low E and the A string a half step. There is a tuner included that the guitar plugs right into and seems to work very well to get in tune fairly quickly. (I prefer the tuner on my amp, but the included tuner works well) The package comes with a card to go online and take some lessons...I cant speak to this as I have not used it, but for a basic beginning, I am sure it is reseonable and effective. So over all...the guitar has a wonderful finish and a fast low action neck, (No need to perform/have a setup done) with butter soft strings...(seem like Ernie Ball super slinky strings but I am not sure that is the case)... right out of the box and offers really nice sustain, the pickups are really good with nice tone, Just put the supplied batteries into the tuner, plug into the tuner, after tuning plug into the amp and your good to go without need of a total setup. Cons; The strap is way to small to be effective for little more than sitting while playing, depending on your size of course...(I tend to stand, so this was a problem for me...may not be for you)... The amp is small...in size that is...I was surprised at just how small the amp is...and it is good enough for starting but if you have some experience, you will want a better amp...so it serves its purpose but really doesnt allow you to experience all that this guitar and pickups are capable of. So you may need a different strap...you will out-grow the amp, but that should be expected anyway. I am extremely pleased with this guitar and the whole package, and it out performs its price.
First of all, it's a great deal. For the price it comes with a ton of accessories (picks, strap, etc.) It has a great sound & unlike many amps, this one actually sounds better at high volumes. The guitar itself looks cool & has a perfect feel to it. I'm a beginner interested in playing metal (Slayer, Metallica...) & this does the job perfectly. My only complaint is that it goes out of tune pretty quickly other than that, great deal. you should buy it
This starter kit is great for the beginner,I love my IJX30 the neck is very smooth, and the pick ups are good enough to learn on,the strings that come on it aren't very good but thats to be expected when buying a starter kit for this price, but after I slapped a few Ernie Balls on there she sang like a god. The Amp has an on-board distortion button that takes you straight from the clean tones to a dark and dirty tone,I would suggest an overdrive pedal if you are wanting these dark tones, because the distortion is not that great if your wanting to play classic rock songs. I would suggest the Digitech Bad Monkey! or buy another amp to go with it,the amp has a Bass and Treble and Volume controls and thats it. Mine came with Medium picks that are very nice. I would suggest buying another bag as the one that comes with it is cheaply made,it is padded well, but other than that the zippers are very easy to break. The Finish of the guitar is a metallic black not a very flat matte black like they show in the pictures, and for the price and with everything included it is quite the deal. The Guitar Instructor gift card is very nice as they offer song lessons so you can learn you favorite songs in a matter of minutes, they also have backing tracks to play along with, quite a nice investment. Also the Ibanez lessons they offer free with the guitar are very easy to understand and Paul Gilbert is your teacher so. I hope you found my review helpful, and I would suggest this guitar to anyone who wants a good made guitar with humbuckers and is strapped on a budget.
this pack is awesome the little amp puts out massive distortion and when i hook up my pedal it really cranks out the power chords i would highly recomend this pack to everyone i was so impressed i bought a second pack its just as good as some of my 1200.00 guitars and this is a pack that comes with great extras rock on
I bought this guitar last X-mas and ive never had a prob with this guitar the 10w amp held up great. Its a metal pack but it plays great blues. the pick ups are amazing great beginners and pros.
I bought this guitar for my 13th birthday and I play it to this day and is the best beginner guitar I have tried. I've played a Squier strat by fender (very common) and this guitar beats the strat by far in metal and in rock. I sold the amp because it's distortion didn't sound great and 10 watts is small. Instead I bought a line 6 which makes a great team with this guitar. If you're looking for a starter guitar, this guitar will not let you down.
I got this guitar a while back i decited to move on from an acoustic. The only probs i had were the cable it only lasts about a month. also the strings they suck they wont stay in tune for more that like an hour. i would get new strings before i leave. but all in all amazing sweet style and sound when you get good strings
