The guitar and amp are everything I had hoped they would be. It plays well and stays in tune. The onboard tuner only tunes 3 of the strings accurately. Thankfully I had a seperate tuner. It also shows it comes with picks, but I didn't receive any. I was going to send in to the repair center to have the tuner fixed but it isn't covered under the lifetime warranty as it reads. I haven't let the lack of a tuner enjoy my guitsar playing experience and I haven't even contacted Ibanez or the Guitar Center about it because I am enjoying the guitar and amp as is. For $200 it is a great playing instrument and that was what I was after. The tuner was going to be a bonus. If you are a beginner thinking about purchasing this package, you will get a good playing, sounding guitar. I would have give it a higher rating, but the tuner not working, the lack of picks and the cheap strings were enough to warrant the lower rating. The guitart and amp themselves deserve a higher rating, but the entire package was less impressive. Buy it for the guitar and amp and don't pay attention to all of the things that come with it.

I really thought this was a great deal. I had browsed for two weeks until I found a perfect and affordable electric acoustic guitar. I took it to my guitar club and everyone was surprised by how amazing the guitar was and especially the sound. The amplifier works like magic. I noticed that to use the tuner you do have to connect it to the amplifier. However, I still use a free tuner app which has a gauge and help me to tune it precisely. I am a left handed person in some instances but I found that a righty guitar is ok for me, but if you are completely left handed you should really test a left handed guitar before purchasing any guitar. All in all, the guitar came like in for 4 days for me and joy overcame me when I started using it.
At first glance i opened up the box, and saw every piece there that it said it came with. I knew this guitar would not be the greatest, but i played it and it sounded great for playing wise, (acoustically). I put the strap on, which took forever do to the design flaws of the neck, and i even set up the amp, plugged it into the amp and guitar, and... nothing, no sound, no tuner on, nothing. I thought at first "hmmm, maybe its the 9V battery they sent me, must be a dud" had one picked up from the store new, put it in, and nope, nothing working still. so Ibanez, sent me a faulty guitar, thanks, i bought this for just the fact its an acoustic electric, and now i can't even do so, going to try and return it, and the fact it took two extra days to get to my house was a bit of an upsetment itself, i do not reccomeend this, and this was my first Ibanez brand purchase, i shall not be buying another ever, thank you.
I own an Ibanez EW20 Zebra Wood that I absolutely love, so I picked this pack for a niece wanting to learn the guitar. The AEG5EBK is without question the best starter package available. The guitar plays louder than my EW20, with very comparable sound after you change the strings (not to knock Ibanez but these only last about a month...) Sure, the on board EQ is basic, but that's what this package is about, not to overwhelm the new guitar player. It comes with a basic 15w amp, gig bag, strap, extra peg and wrench, and another set of strings you probably won't use, but hey, for $250 you're getting your money's worth. The only thing is the guitar needs to be plugged in for the on board tuner to function, unlike most other Ibanez Acoustic-Electrics. People ask "Then why is there a battery???" A: It's needed to run the on board EQ and pickups.
I haven't played in years and consider myself a novice. This was a great purchase for me. A few $$ more than the Dean or Epiphone (which were out of stock anyway), the Ibanez is a decent guitar with good sound. The amp is 15w and small in footprint, made of wood. It sounds good and clear but has no frills. A simple amp. The kit provides extra strings, a few picks, nylon case, cable, strap, and even a DVD that I haven't viewed yet. Cons-I do not like the built in tuner. The guitar has to be hooked into the amp for it to even turn on. I bought a Snark and use it instead. Overall a good purchase for a beginner or novice.
I went to Guitar Center out of desperation when my Yamaha AE went south. There were only two acoustic electric guitars available in my price range, and I initially selected the Epiphone over the Ibanez, but discovered it was unplayable when I took it down to examine it from it's perch. Unfortunately, the amp shown here wasn't included in my jam pack, so I can't comment on it. I ended up with an Ibanez 1BZ1G electric amp, and $70 off for various reasons. Bottom line...This guitar is an absolute blast to play, as soon as you change the strings for something better. I've played it through an acoustic electric amp and was highly satisfied with the tone and gain. The only complaint I could muster on this baby is that the finish is very thin, so be careful not to ding it up, because it can easily happen. Especially if you have to lug it around in an Epiphone gig bag, which is what I ended up with, along with an owners manual for an Epiphone, an Epiphone tuner, and an Epiphone strap...Oh well, I got $70 off!!!God Bless Guitar Center!
As one of the reviews stated before, the black version of this guitar is awesome. It has a "diamond-dust" pattern that shimmers like the old Cadillac and Olsmobile paint jobs back in the day. It really is a pretty guitar and you can't go wrong with black and chrome. It produces a full sound that can easily fill a room without an amp and the tone is soft and round rather than sharp and aggressive. I hope that makes sense. One drawback for me personally is that when playing the high strings, the other strings tend to resonate a bit. Not very loud, but loud enough for someone that is accustomed to hearing musical instruments to notice the "noise". And once they're resonating, you have to quiet them (all of them) even if you've not played them. I imagine that as I improve, this will be less of a bother because I'll cover the guitar more while playing. One of the other reviews mentions replacing the strings with better ones, so that could solve this minor problem too. I bought my pack a week ago in the Plano, Texas store to avoid the online woes that I've read about. I'd personally never buy a guitar online, but the best advice I can give you for an in-store purchase is to make sure that all of the parts work before leaving the store. It's tedious to unpack and repack, but necessary and the store associates will totally understand. I was so caught up in the moment of buying my first guitar that I ignored common sense and unknowingly walked my happy tail out of the store with a bad amp and a faulty instrument cable that, I suspect, had been swapped from other packs. Don't let this throw you, Guitar Center replaced everything the next day. I had a great customer service experience and the guitar sounds so good by itself that I didn't mind waiting one night for the amp. Also, the on-board tuner doesn't work without the cable plugged in. FYI.
This a great guitar for the money! This starter guitar has a clear sound!
Got my set 2 weeks ago, and I love it! The guitar has great tone and action. The Amp works very well for what I need it for. It looks very sharp and seems well made. Overall, I am very pleased!
I've been playing guitar for a while now and wanted to bridge the gap with a nice, entry level acoustic electric. This package exceeded expectations. The package came earlier than expected and the sound of the guitar is outstanding. The guitar stays in tune and sounds great whether plugged-in or fully acoustic. The only downfall, if there really is one, is that guitar strap is a pain the A$% to attach. Other than that, I highly recommend this Jam pack to anyone.
So I got this Jampack as a christmas present, and it was my 7th guitar. I love my other guitars and they all have a great sound, but when I got this one, I fell in love with the look right off, then I played it, it sounded great. Then I plugged it into the amp. WOW!!! I love the crisp, fresh tone, it is so amazing. This is a cheap priced guitar, but it is top notch. I expected it to be good (being an Ibanez), but it was better than just good, it was great. And with all the accessories it comes with for just $200, this is a win-win situation. I recommend it to anyone who loves the guitar.
