If you're looking to get into the 6 string, this baby is for you. Awesome price and playability. Played this guitar and a few other 6ers in the store the other day and picked this one for its sound and ease of play. Looked at the price tag and did a double take. Can't believe that this kind of sound came out of a cheap guitar. I have owned my fair share of axes and this one ain't going anywhere for a good while.

Amazing 6 string for the price.

By Bob

from Massachusetts

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR206 6-String Bass Guitar:

I have been wanting to purchase a 6 string for quite some time now, and I love the feel of the Ibanez 6 strings. their necks are thin and are quite comfortable. The price is very affordable and it has the playability of the higher end models. Came Set up nicely, and the only thing I had to do is remove a knob so I could tighten the nut on a loose Pot. I also recommend changing the strings. They're a little bit harsh and for me don't sound very good.I will probably get a set of Elixirs at some point since I have always liked the sound of them But overall its an AMAZING bass for the price and I highly recommend it

Beautiful 6 string!!

By LITTLEBASSMAN

from brooklyn, new york

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR206 6-String Bass Guitar:

Just purchased this wonderful bass the same day I typed this review (8/29/2010). I eyed this bass for a very long time and I finally made my dream come true. This is definitely a dream bass for anyone that wants to use a six string bass!!! From the low b, to the high c, the sound is very clear. Easy to tune, light to hold. The neck is easy to wrap your fingers around (and I have little hands). No problem whatsoever. You will not regret the opportunity to buy this very affordable bass, that is capable of doing more than it is worth.

bought it, returned it

By matthew

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR206 6-String Bass Guitar:

purchased this bass at my local guitar center here in new york. was looking for an active 6, and this was the right price, and very comfortable to play. well, after 2 rehearsals i knew it had to go back. the electronics are just not up to par. the tone is very uneven across the board. the B, E, and A strings are overly "boomy" when the Phat knob is turned up too high and they lose their tone, and the D, G, and C strings are very weak and have little tone, no matter how the Phat knob is set. i tinkered away with different settings of the Phat knob, the Tone knob, and the volume knobs, but could not find a good even sound across all strings. i know ibanez puts Barolinis in some of its higher end basses, and i believe this would be an AMAZING bass with better pickups and electronics. the playability and craftsmanship is great, and for the price, it seems too good to be true. the pickups prove that, sadly, it is just a little too good to be true.

Fantastic Value!

By Chuck Davis

from North Stonington, CT

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR206 6-String Bass Guitar:

I've played 6 string basses for years now. My first was an early Ibanez SR506 made back when that model came with a maple neck rather than the current multi-piece necks. I wanted this bass for the Ibanez neck profile and narrower 16.5mm spacing as my other 2 6'ers are 20mm at the bridge. This little bass is a fantastic value! Light, extremely easy to play, well balanced across the fretboard. I haven't gigged with it yet so I really can't comment on the electronics but.....it sounds nice thru my practice combo at home. I'll take it to next weekend show and use it for one set. If you're thinking of getting into a 6...or looking for a super solid backup...this is a no-miss proposition. Great bass!

Amazing

By www.myspace.com/masterattackplan

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR206 6-String Bass Guitar:

I've played this bass in the store many times. The feel is amazing and for going from a four string to six string, it feels like there is not much of a difference. The strings are easily accessible, and the sound is amazing. This is going to be my next bass for sure.

This bass

By J.R.

from St. Paul MN

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR206 6-String Bass Guitar:

This is easily the best 6 string bass that you can buy for the price. It is excently crafted. I bought it almost a year ago and the nobs are beginning to get lose, but it hasn't changed the overall sound. This was the first six string I bought and I won't be going back. If you are new to a six string I HIGHLY reccommend buying this one. Ibanez really know what they are doing when they make a relatively cheap bass that is also six string and very good quality. The only thing that I don't like is that its only 22 frets, but thats no problem because of the high C string.

perfect

By John T. Vonachen

from Stockton, CA

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR206 6-String Bass Guitar:

versatile with 6 strings, black (wanted it black), the bridge is way back which is good for full length basses like this. That way the neck is not too long. The top part of the body sticks way out which is good. That way the neck does not dive, very well balanced. It sounds great. I got it with the hard case built for it and a fancy strap. It's a little heavy so my wide soft strap is especially good for it.

Great

By Mohammad

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR206 6-String Bass Guitar:

Everything that a bassist would want in a bass guitar is in this one; 6 strings, 4 control knobs for EQ, Tone, and volume for each pickup, great sound, great playability, and great for any style of music.
