I'm a guitar player and I was looking to get a bass, when I came across this gem. I own the blueburst model and it's beautiful, and looks dynamically different depending on the lighting conditions. This bass is great for every style - the neck P pickups provide a very tonal, deep sound, and the J bridge pickup gives you that trebly poppy sound. The J distorts very nicely, and it sounds great with effects too. I love the phat boast, but too much will make your bass sound more like flatulence. I lowered the action, but I had a couple raised frets, those were the only problems I had with this bass.

I've had this for 2 years, and I'd just like to say that nearly everything about this bass is great (for the price). -Fast Neck -Pretty diverse sounds -Pickups could be better, but they do the job -Effn BEAUTIFUL finish. -Very light, like super crazy light. -Holds together great even tho it doesnt feel extremely sturdy. I soon discovered the Phat Boost is kinda pointless, for me at least. It boosts a dead sound to make it even more obvious. This brings me to my major problem: The E String. After months of trying to narrow the sound down to what the issue is, I've discovered the bass has a terrible problem with the E String. The electronics aren't the issue; it sounds bad even when unplugged. A very heavy thud sound when open or fretted, unlike the other strings that ring out perfectly. Hell, I've even replaced the strings a number of times. Even my cheap Yamaha RBX250 with messed up toneless pickups doesn't have an issue like this. I'm gonna have to get this looked at or maybe try some of the same basses in-store to see if its just an issue with mine or the overall model. I was FORCED to buy a compressor to semi-correct the overpowering E string notes. So I'm hoping to upgrade soon, but it'll hold me over for now. If stolen, I'd feel kinda bad because its so easy to play and carry (its SOO light, its unbelievable) but I wouldn't get another, the E String problem just ruined my impression of this thing.

Great bass

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR200FM Bass Guitar:

This was my first semi-expensive bass and its worth every penny. It stays in tune very well and you can get a great sound of it, especially with the bass boost. I've had it for four years and have had no major problems with it except sometimes the pegs get loose, but then again its been four years. I'd say this is a definite buy if your a beginner or intermediate bassist looking for a durable good sounding bass.

Great Buy

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR200FM Bass Guitar:

I picked this bass up to keep around as a backup. I played it once at a gig and now use it as much as my Fender Jazz. It's light and the neck is really fast. It was set up and ready to play right off the rack. Sounds great and punches through the sound very well. This is a really nice instrument at an easy price to add to anyone's stable.

Great Bass

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR200FM Bass Guitar:

This was my first bass about 3 years ago and its the only one i've kept over the years. Perfect for slap and plenty of growl from the pickups. This a great metal and heavy rock bass. It's lightweight, sounds good, great feel, fast action. Can't go wrong with this.

great bass for a very good price

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR200FM Bass Guitar:

when I was looking for a bass I was looking at a peavy but was also open to other options. When I walked into guitar center I tried this baby out and when I played just a couple notes and was already blownaway. The sound was so rich and smooth, I bought it a couple days later. I'll start by by giving the pros: sound is awesome and great for playing jazz or rock, the power is AMAZING, obviously with any active bass you'll get more sound but this one has a TON of sound, the neck feels great, the action is smooth and compared to a fender is a whole lot lighter. Cons: none. Put it this way if you're looking at a squier which seems to be the thing these days for beginners, look here at this one because in my opinion I found this to be a lot better bass than a fender. This bass is the BEAST!

awsome bass

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR200FM Bass Guitar:

this bass is amazing for the money. it is my second bass and kicks my old squier p-bass up and down the street and over fences. the price is amazing for the quality. great for any style playing (slap, gallop, pop, picking). after a while you will have to replace the battery in the back or you will start hearing a metrinome type sound out of the speaker so carry a spare 9 volt in your case. i got the transparent blue color and it is beutiful and i get compliments whenever i gig with it. also a pretty light instrument. definately make sure to use a thicker gage string than what comes on it, or the G-string hits the fretboard making ugly sounds but once that is fixed you are ready to rock.

Ace Bass!

By Gage Wright

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR200FM Bass Guitar:

I never go into Guitar Center looking for an Ibanez when I go guitar shopping, but it always seems that I leave with one, and I haven't been dissatisfied yet. This bass isn't too big, it isn't too small, the neck is slim and comfortable, and best of all its affordable. It doesn't matter if you're new to bass or if you've been playing for years, this instrument is right for you. The active pickups give it great tone, and its perfect for whatever style of music you want to play. This is my third Ibanez guitar, and probably not my last. When you get this bass, you get way more than you pay for, but in a very good way.

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR200FM Bass Guitar:

As soon as I saw this bass in the showroom, I wanted it. I tried it out and the sound was amazing. This is by far the best bass I have ever owned. I am VERY happy with this bass. The number of pickups gives such an amazing range of sounds and tones. I definitely got my moneys worth with this bass. Ibanez did an incredible job with this bass.
