Highs: big sound from the single bridge-position open-pole humbucker - plenty of bottom with a distinctive upper-end growl; very playable Ibanez SG neck; sounded good through every amp I played it through; great value Lows: the ends of the frets about midway up the neck on the G-string side were not filed off flush - those things were sharp enough to slice up two of the fingers on my left hand pretty good Verdict: great sound, very playable design, Purple-Heart playing experience. Be sure it's set up right, and it will be a very useful guitar.

good starter five string

By Daniel Banks

from Tulsa,OK

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR105EX 5-String Bass Guitar:

i bought this with the money i got from my familt for christmas in 2009. it wasnt what i was after at the time but what i was after was another $100 more then i had in hand. i found thise on the wall at my local guitar center an bought it. when i got it home i pluged it in to my peavey max126 combo amp an it sounded nice. only issues was the burrs on the lower frets from there install cut my fingers open but after a couple weeks they wore away an now its perfect. it cost me $217 dollars to buy it but it was worth every cent i paid.

Now a great Bass

By Mike Erickson

from Las Vegas, Nevada

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR105EX 5-String Bass Guitar:

I've been a professional musician for around 45 years. I purchased this bass as a ۡ̏beaterۡݕ_ bass because of the value of my p bass. After the purchase of the bass and some setup by the best guitar repair guy in Vegas it is most one of the best basses I have ever owned.

Good bass

By James

from California

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR105EX 5-String Bass Guitar:

This is a good bass. I got it a couple months back and haven't had problems with it. The only problem I had was the input jack. The input jack wasn't made right, so I had to get it replaced. After I got it fixed, it still sounded great. Good bass to get. I recommend it a lot if you are into metal. It is also a good bass to start out with.

A learners Bass

By Missy Rose

from Yoder Indiana

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR105EX 5-String Bass Guitar:

Yeah I bought this as my first five string because I really needed something cheaper to learn the fifth string with that way If I wanted to stay with four strings I wouldn't be out a ton of money. I was sold, this bass sounded well on my Marshall stack as well as my Fender stack. This bass has a very metallic industrial sound, the pick ups aren't really to my taste but at this price you cant be too picky. This bass could use a Rosewood fret board in order to give it a better sound, but I'm just a huge fan of Rosewood. One complaint is that the frets aren't easy to slide the hand down. They are too high and are a bit sharp because they weren't shaved flush on one side. So when you play this bass be ready for cuts and callouses. While as bassists we expect callouses this bass gave me the most because of the sharp frets. This bass supports triplets well if you're going to play this bass use your fingers and not a pick.

Simply Astonished

By DeShaun Kendall-Grant

from Phoenix, AZ

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR105EX 5-String Bass Guitar:

So being a fairly experienced bass player, my band decided it was time to get more "technical". But being a college student takes a toll in this seeing as how i was in need of going from a 4-string to a 5-string. I came across this bass, read the reviews, and decided to go for it. And let me tell you, every single cent I spent on this baby was WELL worth it. She dishes out a VERY nice, clear, crisp tone and is light as all getout, making extended playing much more enjoyable. Received her today and have been barely able to put her down since. If you are a bassist with a budget in need of a 5 string....look no further. You will NOT regret it!

VERY Sturdy.

By Nick

from New Orleans Louisiana

Comments about Ibanez Gio GSR105EX 5-String Bass Guitar:

This bass feels like its made out of a rock, theres no way you will ever experience problems with the neck and body. The down side I have on this bass is that it has a really flat sound, so if you want a brighter sound instead of just a regular bass note I would recommend getting maybe a fender bass.
