I was truly amazed at how nice this guitar is and plays. I have been playing guitar for over 30 years. I wanted to get my kids into playing a stringed instrument. My boys are ages 8,10 & 12. All three have been able to pick it up and start playing...(with a little instructional help from me) For the money, this guitar is excellent. I like it so much that I am considering buying one for my studio to record with. The sound is great and the best part about it is that you can tune it. In my experience, you get what you pay for. I have looked at purchasing 6 string micro guitars in the past and never bought any because the intonation was always off. I could never tune them up out of the box. I would have to spend additional money to have it set up properly or do it myself. The Micro Bass by Ibanez sounds great right out of the box. My boys are loving it.

A little rough around the edges but overall a great bass. The neck and fretboard were very, very dry feeling until I used mineral oil (baby oil) to give them a better feel. This bass has a true low sound on the neck pick up ( p-bass style split). At a recent jam session, someone recorded us with a one point stereo mic and the bass was so strong that it blew out the recording. Guess I will have to play softer. Love the even shorter short scale of 28.6" Guitar licks and scales transfer over much easier, as I am playing both guitar and bass regularly at the moment.

Comments about Ibanez GSRM20 Mikro Short-Scale Bass Guitar:

minimal experience with the bass. Play mostly ukulele. some guitar. Picked this up so my girlfriend could learn and it's perfect. Coupled with an Orange Crush 25 that I picked up a few weeks ago.
Wouldn't hesitate to perform with this if I were a performance level bass player which I'm not.
Was a Dented and scratched victim. Has a pretty bad crack in the paint under the volume nob but I expected this and it doesn't affect the tone at all. Actually adds to the cool level of the instrument.
    No fret buzz.

Comments about Ibanez GSRM20 Mikro Short-Scale Bass Guitar:

I got this to set up as a piccolo bass. The missing fifth star is because the pickup corner was sharp. Fixed with a file when I did the piccolo set up. This thing is just straight fun! Workmanship is outstanding given
The price. I opened the control cavity and was impressed by the care, excess was zip tied and the shielding was very well done. Hard to put it down!

Comments about Ibanez GSRM20 Mikro Short-Scale Bass Guitar:

These little basses are the best kept secret in the bass world. However, they often arrive at the store in poor shape or configuration and need a setup. The pickups are often misaligned, the strings are ALWAYS too low and require a raise (bad buzzing agaisnt frets). I have two of these little basses. I had to send one back to exchange for a new one because a brand new one, right out of the box, had a warped neck.

Comments about Ibanez GSRM20 Mikro Short-Scale Bass Guitar:

I've played guitar for some time and like to compose and record my own music at home. I'm just now learning to play bass and to make it a little more difficult, my fingers aren't long enough for a normal 34in. scale bass, so I really needed a short scale. I've tried some 30in. short scale basses and, although they were okay, the micro's 28in. length was closer to my Les Paul and Strat in scale and felt more playable. For me it was a perfect fit, in both playability and tone. It was also set up well and with a simple tune up it was great right out of the box. The sunburst finish also looks great. The micro is definitely not a toy and it is built to the same professional standards as all Ibanez standard basses. I'm very happy with it and believe I'll enjoy for a long time.

I play in small non-professional band and just wanted something smaller to carry around. Gives a good enough sound for my requirements.

Comments about Ibanez GSRM20 Mikro Short-Scale Bass Guitar:

Been playing mostly guitar and switching to a full scale bass has its issues with comfort. This little bass feels like a regular guitar in your hands and is great if you are like me and switch back and forth between instruments. Fret spacing is about the same. Light weight, balanced and the fact it is so small is huge when playing on tiny stages. Fits into a standard guitar gig bag/case too. Pickups are a little on the tingy side, but can be fixed with EQ and tone knob. There is some fret buzz, but can be fixed with a little adjustment.

The only thing I wish Ibanez would fix is the pickup config. The P Bass style pickups crowd the body and makes any type of slapping difficult. If it had a single humbucker or 2 J Bass style pickups, the times where you would whack your thumb on the pickup (sound comes through the amp) would go down. Hard to pop the D and G without having to think about it or end up hitting the pickup. I don't really notice that much of a tone difference between the two outside of a very slight hum in the bridge pickup that I only hear through headphones.
