An Affordable Value And A Thing Of Beauty

Comments about Ibanez GSR206B 6-String Electric Bass Guitar:

While at our new Asheville Music Center store, my wife showed me this Ibanez GSR206B 6-string bass and asked if I would like it for my upcoming birthday present. I have two other basses, have owned four others in my life but never tried a 6-string. I picked it up and fell in love with it immediately. It is one quality-built instrument and seems worth about twice the asking price. This particular Ibanez 6-string is described as an entry level bass but I don't see why one couldn't play it for a lifetime. What's not to like? So, she bought it for me as an early present and it's quickly become a great addition to my low end arsenal. If you want a 6-string, I'd get one of these, a real steal for the price.

Comments about Ibanez GSR206B 6-String Electric Bass Guitar:

Last summer, I went to my local guitar center, and tried out a few basses. A few basses caught my eye, but then I saw this one hanging up, and I forgot about all the others. I picked it up, started playing, abd was blown away. It had one of the nastiest sounds I've ever heard come out of a bass (In a good way!), and it played like a dream. I ordered it sometime after Christmas, and when it finally arrived, I practically ripped it out of the box, eager to play, and I sure wasn't disappointed! It looks absolutely EVIL in person, and has a bright, punchy tone to match! It sounds great through just about every amp or effect you put it through, and is good for any kind of music, but is ESPECIALLY useful for heavier styles of music. Rock, metal, djent, you name it. This beast covers them all, and has the looks to back it up.
The only gripe I have with this bass is the
active Phat II bass boost EQ. If the battery in the back goes dead, you don't just lose the use of the knob that controls said EQ, you also lose the sound of the bass altogether.
When I'd had this bass for no more than a month, and it stopped working out of the blue, I started to get very worried, and did a lot of fiddling around with the electronics of my bass, amp, and effects pedal, but none of those seemed to be the problem. My dad had to fiddle around with it for a while to actually figure out what was wrong with it, and he finally figured out what was wrong with it. The battery had died! How relieved I was when I learned my brand new bass was okay! We replaced the battery, and it started working again, just like new. The other problem with the onboard bass boost EQ is that when you turn it up and put it through an effects pedal, it makes the sound very muddy.
I'm currently working on rewiring the electronics so that I won't have to constantly keep live batteries in my bass.
