Less than 3 months after buying this bass, I noticed a horrid amount of fret buzz, and a strange crackling sound coming from my amp. On top of this, 3 frets on the D string all play the same exact pitch. Not joking. After several setups, the problems were still apparent. I replaced the output jack, and the crackling was fixed, but this bass still plays awfully. My advice is to save up a few hundred more dollars and buy a better used bass.

Comments about Ibanez GSR200 4-String Electric Bass:

just learning to play bass and i am very happy with this guitar. it has a thin neck and nicely spaced frets which is a plus if you have small hands. it's lighter in weight than many others i have tried. the tone control and eq give a great range of tones. a friend who plays in a band has commented on how well the bass plays and feels. the overall workmanship and quality seem to be very good and i have had no issues for the 7 months i have had the bass. anyone looking for a good quality bass should check this one out, especially for the price. i feel it's better than your average "starter" bass. make sure you get a good quality amp to take advantage of all this guitar has to offer.

I use this product just to play and it's the first bass I've bought. It was 100% worth it. Great tone, feels great to hold. There's some fret buzz but other than that it's fantastic.

I am a beginner bassist and picked up this bass at my local store. I took it home and played all night. It sounded great. It even worked good out of tune. Great for bands and musical groups.

Comments about Ibanez GSR200 4-String Electric Bass:

I bought mine used at the local store . I would have bought a new one if I hadn't discovered this one first. I'll use it mostly in church and occasionally in small venues. The tone, feel and finish are as good as my Fender JBass (made in Mexico). PThe tone has a good range and it sits comfortably when using a strap. The price makes this guitar a great bass for beginners as well as a gigging musician.

Comments about Ibanez GSR200 4-String Electric Bass:

I bought the jewel blue one and named it "Jewel". No, not like the singer. I thought it was totally beyond all expectations. I played it for a couple of years before I lost it when my marriage fizzled. Now I want another one.

I'm no novice. I've been playing guitar for over 35 years, and Jewel was my third bass. I liked her better than a Fender Jazz. I want another one.

To nitpick, I didn't like the square corners on the top of the neck (past all the frets), so I took the neck off and rounded them. Problem solved.

I also didn't like that the threads stripped out on the E string bridge piece when I tried to back it up far enough to get the intonation right. But I think the real problem is solved with an Earvana nut.

Anyway, if you can't afford to buy the bass everyone is telling you to buy - or even if you can - buy this one. If you don't sound good on it, you don't need a Fender or a Rick, you need lessons.

        My Burple Bass Rocks!!!

        By Stephen

Comments about Ibanez GSR200 4-String Electric Bass:

I play guitar. I got Rocksmith 2014 on PS3 and noticed it worked with guitar and BASS so I decided to buy a bass. Why not, right!? I wanted to find something inexpensive and I really wanted something besides black, preferably blue. I found this one in jewel blue. I ordered it from GC and got it super fast, thank you GC. I have to say this bass is awesome for the price. Perfect for someone just starting. I had to do a little setup on it to clean up a slight fret buzz on E2 and a few of the frets had sharp metal barbs sticking out towards the top of the neck. I bought a drywall sanding sponge as suggested online and cleaned them right up very easily. I set the intonation and off I went. It's so smooth and comfortable to play. Very lightweight. My 8 year old granddaughter can hold it. I want to say it's smaller than most basses, but me coming from guitar might be an advantage. The color is not really blue, more of a purple. The first thing my wife said when she saw it was "Purple!?!". In certain light it looks very blue but other times it's purple, so BURPLE it is. The finish is super clean and really looks awesome. I thought the purple was going to bother me but it just looks so clean and tight. All the hardware is chrome which looks really good. The strings that came with it sound and feel pretty good. I have had it for about a month now and they still sound good. As for sounding muddy, it can if you push the bass boost all the way up. I prefer medium boost to keep the mud out. I am also able to get that clean sound by cutting the boost off and cleaning the tone up with the tone pot/knob. The knobs are one of my only complaints, they are plastic and feel very cheap to the touch. I hope they will hold up. As for the sound, I run it through a Peavey Vyper VIP2 and it sounds really good. Nice cleans, deep lows, good funky sounds, responsive pickups, and my mid's sound fine and crisp. I am not sure why others who have reviewed had problems with the mid's. The neck is unfinished and thin so it plays smooth and fast. Overall, very comfortable to play. I rated this a 4 out of 5 from a beginner's viewpoint although I know what good instruments are. It gets a 4 because of the knobs feeling cheap and the frets having sharp edges and really it should be a 4.5 because it's just so much fun to play. By the way... it works great with Rocksmith 2014 on the PS3. I would recommend it to others as a nice starter to intermediate bass and its worth every penny. Thank you Ibanez and GC.

        A Fairly nice bass

        By Nic

        from Monticello, Iowa

Comments about Ibanez GSR200 4-String Electric Bass:

I bought this bass guitar a few days ago and over all it's not a bad instrument. I like the blue finish and the twenty two frets and the bass boost effect. The bridge pickup isn't as bright as like the fender jazz bass though. But I like the split coil neck pickup. Usually I like guitars & basses to have their jacks on the front side of the body, but I like it on this bass. This bass needs a nine volt battery for the pickups & EQ's to work so that's a small problem, but in my experience with this bass I find it's best to use a Hyvee brand battery because it fits better than other brands because others don't seem to fit to make the bass work.

        Cant beat it. Buy this!

        By Zach Hanson

        from Menominee, MI

Comments about Ibanez GSR200 4-String Electric Bass:

I've had this bass for about 4 years and it has never let me down. The neck is amazingly thin and easy to play. Frets are spaced nicely. The pickups allow you to get so many great tones out of this. From real poppy highs to chest bumping lows using the bass boost nob. This is the lightest bass i have ever played, period. I love it being that i play 4-5 hour bar gigs. It really saves on the shoulder. And this bass is durable, believe me. Mine took a fall, strings down, from the tailgate of a truck onto blacktop. Didn't hurt a thing. Literally only like 3 one millimeter scratches in the finish. I was amazed. Over all i love this bass. I would recommend this to any level of player. You cant beat it for the price.
