Its smaller size and shorter scale make the Mikro perfect for young rockers, and it's also an ideal grown-up guitar for tour-bus songwriting or practice.

one of my best friends little siblings bought this guitar because he wanted to be like his older brother, and one day i went over to his house and i didn't bring my guitar and i was bored, so i saw that guitar and i picked it up and starting playing with it, i was very surprised, i was expecting it to be like one of those starter guitars that you get at the store, and to my surprise it sounded almost as good as mine, the strings buzzed a little bit, but once i plugged it into an amp i could shred better than my friend who was at the time playing his gibson les paul, his guitar sounded better, but after we got done playing a few songs he took the guitar from me, i think it's the best starter guitar out there for the price.

I purchased this guitar for my 8 y/o son. I was unable to correctly set the intonation, so I dropped it of at a local music shop for the initial set up and adjustments. The music shop technician determined several of the guitar frets needed to be milled to prevent strings from buzzing. The quote for milling was costly, so I returned the guitar to Musicians Friend. I understand the guitar is entry level, but I would have expected Musicials Friend to screen out defective guitars prior to shipping.

Comments about Ibanez GRGM21 Mikro Electric Guitar:

I got one of these for very, very cheap. I wasn't expecting much from the stock pickups, and I was not surprised, they're garbage, (maybe because I got it used and they just don't age well). I planned on replacing them with my preferred pickup anyways, so no real issue, just sayin..... ya know....

Wanted another guitar for my C tuning, but this thing just won't cut it for lower tuning. Couldn't hold tone, strings felt like spaghetti noodles, was just unplayable.

However, I also play in E#. Tuned this lil guy to that and it feels great! Fast and smooth. Really surprised at this, but I guess it makes sense. The scaling does place the frets a wee bit closer to one another. IMO this would have been better made as a 22 fret vs 24.

Comments about Ibanez GRGM21 Mikro Electric Guitar:

This I a pretty good guitar for beginners that's just starting out. How about this for my 10-year-oldstep daughter. And it fits her perfectly. I would recommend this firm players 8 to 13, it does going to know why but I think has a lot to do with the stirrings you might want to recommend changing them when you first get it but other than that is a pretty good guitar

Better Than Other 3/4 Length Guitars

    By MATT BERNS

    from Michigan

Comments about Ibanez GRGM21 Mikro Electric Guitar:

The feel, fit and finish of this 3/4 length guitar is just plain superior to the Squier and other option that our Guitar Center had. I wanted a guitar for my 7 year old but I can't help but play it too. The problem right off the bat was that even though I brought it home with a fresh set up, it was immediately out of tune when I played it at home. I re-tuned it... played some chords, and it was out of tune again in seconds. I took it in for another set up the next day... This time to a master luthier - not at GC... I brought it home, played some chords, and it went out of tune in seconds again. I immediately took it in AGAIN! The luthier then recommended putting on thicker strings because it was definitely intonated and the neck was straight... PUT 11's ON THIS THING! Now it plays GREAT! The short scale means that if you hit the strings fairly hard, it will pull it out of tune! That's why the luthier recommended thicker strings. THICKER STRINGS HELP on this one. And it's still easy enough for a kid to play. It really feels like a quality instrument... the frets are filed and smooth... the pickups are a little dead but at the same time COMPLETELY adequate for jamming a bit, having some fun, and teaching a kid how to play!

Comments about Ibanez GRGM21 Mikro Electric Guitar:

Lets face it, most people see the price of this guitar and automatically think it's junk. Nope, not at all. I got mine in Yellow. I have a acoustic series amp, sounds really good. Everyone says get Fender or Gibson... When you're on a tight budget its kinda tough. This thing lasts forever. For me, its a backup guitar to a backup guitar, its taken a lot of abuse, but i love it. Just remember, a good/dedicated player can make anything sound good ;)

I'm a girl, fits great, great sound

Comments about Ibanez GRGM21 Mikro Electric Guitar:

I've been playing acoustic for a couple of months now, and I decided it was time to move to an electric guitar. I'm already a musician in other types of instruments, so guitar came pretty easily to me. This is a great guitar for girls, as it's slightly smaller than other guitars, its the best one you can buy if you're just beggining. I love it, comfortable hold, great sound. Buy it now! Great Price!

I bought this for my 6yr old son and its perfect. It's small enough for him to handle but still large enough for him to use as he grows up. Our friend told us it was a great guitar and had a nice pickup. I'm not a musician so just going by his comments. To a novice ear, it sounds pretty good

My 4 year old loves watching me play and shows interest in playing so I bought him this for x-mas. It's a cool little guitar and comes with a good name on it. It's good for the price and will serve its purpose well for several years I'm sure.

Definately better than the walmart brand.

Comments about Ibanez GRGM21 Mikro Electric Guitar:

hey guys, i never used an amp with it so i can't really say much about the pickups or anything. Anyways, this guitars is ok if your a beginner, i wouldn't recommend this guitar if u have more than about a year of playing guitar. The tuning pegs are terrible, my guitar keeps getting un-tuned and every time i would put new strings on it, it would sound dull, as if i used the strings for about 3 months already. I wouldn't recommend this guitar for heavy metal, or post-hardcore, maybe for alternative or blues but thats about it. Also, trying to tune the guitar is a pain, it wouldn't give me an accurate reading, it kept going from flat to sharp and it would just skip the middle, it was really annoying, i'd recommend this guitar for kids under the age of 12. I didn't really like the guitar, so im trading mines in, hope this helps
