Got this guitar the day before the fourth of July and it's amazing. let's begin with the neck of the guitar made from maple, great and easy to play on it has the feel i was looking for in a guitar something heavy when i kicked it up with the distortion. Also the shark inlays gives it the nice look that stands out. soloing is just great with this, easy to handle and its sounds just great on clean mode too best purchase ever .i would recommend this to anyone looking for a good guitar at a great price

I got the black model as a gift a few years ago as my first guitar. I absolutely loved it and it sounded great with my Line 6 Spider amp. It has a smooth thin neck that you can move fast and fluidly on and the double humbucker pickups sounded great. I enjoyed the tremolo bridge even though it was poorly made. It didn't take long for problems to appear. The black paint made every single microscopic spec of dust that landed on the guitar really stand out, so I have to constantly wipe it to keep it clean. Not long after I got it I noticed the volume knob didn't even work. It didn't take a month for all the screws to rust and even the whammy bar started to rust. Around a year of having the guitar (possibly sooner and I just didn't realize it) the strings keep going out of tune. Even when I am playing I can feel the string losing its tension. So much for "Keeping everything in tune" And for a long time I have had problems with the input. Suddenly the sound will cut out then come back in and sometimes it just stops putting out sound completely. So I'll pull the input jack out and see that there is nothing wrong, just cheap wires poorly sautered to the jack. Then it will suddenly cut back on and I can play for a while. Overall: an unreliable cheap beginner guitar.

Great Beginner guitar

By Micah

from Dexter,MO

I have not tried playing since I was 10. Decided to give it a try at 31. I ordered this guitar based on reviews. It has a great sound, a thin neck and a great price.

Nice guitar, great price

By andrew

from Bernville,PA

I bought this guitar not long ago just to have something extra to run scales on as I already have a Charvel. This turned out to be a really good purchase, the action and sound are just as good as my current guitar, the neck is a little wider which is nice because I'm an intermediate player and it's easier to practice on. all-in-all I'm really happy with my purchase.

Ok...for beginners....

By PATRICK HOPKINS

from Amherst, NH

For a beginner guitar....this thing is great. But if you've been playing longer than a year...you'd know right off the bat that this thing is terrible! The switch for the pickups would make a static sound, and sometimes the neck pickup would not work...thankfully I fixed that, but an inexperienced player would have a lot of trouble dealing with this problem. If you have experience with fixing guitars or electronic equipment, and you are a beginner that doesn't have very high expectations for play-ability and reliability, then this is your guitar! If you have high expectations, and are looking for a "bang for the buck" guitar.....look elsewhere.

You get what you pay for

By Michael Mazon

from Seattle, WA

Fast neck, nice frets, good action. Goes out of tune every 15 seconds. The trem system feels like a rusty pipe. The guitar is great looking as all Ibanez products are pretty sharp. I'm an experienced guitar player and I regret buying this guitar. Good for a beginner though. You get what you pay for.

Great Guitar, but 1 major flaw

By Rick Hooper

from Murfreesboro, TN

While I do love my GRG120BDX, there is one thing that was problematic with all these guitars. The factory did not always do a very good job installing the fretwires. The first one I bought had at least 2 bad ones. When I took it in, it was decided because of this problem, I would get another of the same model. Problem with that is the sales manager and I went through 4 different guitars before we found one without the problem. If you choose this guitar, make sure to play each fret to make sure you do not have a dead fret because of bad installment of the fretwire. The one I took home does play very well and the pickups put out a great sound. I would recommend having your guitar professionally set-up as the factory set-up is not bad, just needs some tweaking.

Worth Every Penny

By Courtney Dleon

from Pasadena, MD

I bought this guitar last week and couldn't be happier. I originally bought the black one but after having some issues keeping it in tune and a horrible buzzing sound when hitting some of the high chords I took it back to my local GC where they discovered that the fret bars were various heights. They had a white one there so they happily did an exchange and I was on my way home. The picks-up are a little week for a intermediate player so I headed back over to my local GC where I purchased a Seymour Duncan Distortion humbucker for the bridge and wow! No real complaints at all. Rock On!

Bang for the Buck

By RICARDO SALINAS

from Illinois

So i have been playing guitar for six years now and i wanted just another guitar that i could not worry about getting messed up. I played it in the store and it sounded really good for the price, so i bought it. But when i took it home i noticed that the action on mine was kind of high but i could solve that, however it did like to out of tune, even without using the whammy bar it went out of tune a lot. It is really a good deal for the money don't get me wrong but its still just on ok guitar. I would recommend it to anyone starting off, to about intermediate.
