Overview

Paul Gilbert thrashes and rolls only with the best of instruments, namely his own. His signature models deliver with a rough and tumble combination of shred playability and warm tone just where he wants it. The design of the FRM100TR was inspired by many hours of playing and performance by Paul Gilbert with the original Ibanez Fireman model. The most eye-catching part of the FRM100TR is its unique body shape, featuring a distinctive reverse Iceman body outline. The Fireman's mahogany body balances remarkably well.

FEATURES
Similar to his other signature models, the FRM100TR features a specific layout to keep the volume knob location in Paul's favorite spot. In addition, the guitar features a pickup selector switch and an added tone control for maximum tone shaping.

The neck of Fireman is different than the previous RG shapes in the Paul Gilbert signature series. It's thicker and fatter - 22mm@1st fret and 24mm@12th fret - for a classic feel. The 3 pc mahogany/maple/mahogany neck offers the player a fat and tight sound with a solid grip for comfortable playability which Paul demanded.

The FRM100TR features DiMarzio pickups favored by Paul. The bridge and neck positions feature DiMarzio Injectors, while the middle features a DiMarzio Area '67. They are designed with hum-cancelling construction to eliminate the noise but retain single-coil tone. These pickups have a warm, modern tone compared to vintage single coil pickups, and provide a clear, tight sound. The sound stays true even under high gain settings, so solos can be clearly heard when performing with a group. The classic bright and clean sound is easy to achieve.

The original Ibanez Tight-Tune bridge and tailpiece promote superior transfer of string vibration without unwanted movement.

A few fixes needed.

By Corben Williams

Comments about Ibanez FRM100TR Fireman Paul Gilbert Signature Electric Guitar:

There were a ton of problems on [my] new guitar that needed to be fixed. Missing parts on the bridge, warped pick guard, and pickup height... However aside for that and it being shipped across the country as the "On Display" guitar, it sounds amazing. It is very light weight,It has a rad paint finish to it, and is super comfortable, which I was afraid of the horn turned to your chin... Outstanding guitar!

Your new favorite guitar awaits

Comments about Ibanez FRM100TR Fireman Paul Gilbert Signature Electric Guitar:

So what would it take to make a mid-level Chinese made guitar trump a USA Charvel San Dimas and Fender Deluxe Strat as my number 1? Well it would have sound awesome, play great and look amazing. Yes it has single coils, but the best ones I have ever heard. I have never once thought, man I just want to drop a humbucker in here. It has a big neck and tall skinny frets and I have learned to love them. I don't miss the wizard neck of my Ibanez Prestige. I looks like it would give you back ache, but it is actually the lightest guitar I own. I have played it through Marshalls, Mesas, Bongers and a Vox and it sound great through all of them, you just need to tweak the EQ a bit to deal with how bright this guitar is. I have had this guitar for 8 months now, I play it every single day and have not had a single issue. If anything happened to it I would replace it in a second and am actually entertaining the idea of getting a second one 'just in case'. Bottom line is that this guitar is fun play, sounds great and it will start a conversation wherever you play it. I don't know how many "What is that thing?" I have gotten.
