Overview

The addition of an acoustic bass in any musical situation adds a layer of warm, low-end resonance that makes songs come alive. The Ibanez AEB10BBE Acoustic-Electric Bass has a full-sized body that provides these rich tones and this layer of warmth. The 32" neck scale offers the right combination of tonal warmth, easy playability, and clear articulation.

This Ibanez is equipped with an Ivorex II nut. Stronger and more durable than bone and even harder than the original Ivorex, Ivorex II allows brilliant highs and more pronounced lows with less mid-range, which makes the AEB10BBE perfect for amplification.

The AEB10BBE sounds great plugged in via its Fishman Sonicore pickup and Ibanez Shape Shifter preamp with onboard tuner. This system provides premium low-end warmth, tuning ease, and both 1/4" and XLR outputs for increased versatility.

Great Value and Warm Sound

By Merrill Guice

from Valdosta, GA

Comments about Ibanez Exclusive Acoustic-Electric Bass:

I've played a Fender Jazz P Bass since the 80's but was looking for something to play with an acoustic group. The finish was great and the only issue was a slightly raised 7th fret causing buzz that the the tech fixed on the spot. It sounds fine unplugged, but it really shines plugged into an amp (I use an Acoustic AB50 tuned for acoustic bass). You can adjust the eq on the amp to get a really round sound. I ran it through a friend's tube amp and it really blew me away. Maybe a new amp for Christmas! I play on an amp with the group at church and I practice unplugged. It goes on the road with me and it is nice to have a bass to play at the hotel at night without hauling an amp, too. The original strings (D'addario EXP) were a bit metallic for my taste so I switched to Elixers and that fixed that. You do have to play cleaner to cut down on string noise, but that is a positive. The neck is very playable and the shorter scale is much nicer when playing a box with my old man hands. I would recommend to friend and I would replace it if lost or stolen.

Refurbished bliss

By Elizabeth Beebe

from Riverside CA

Comments about Ibanez Exclusive Acoustic-Electric Bass:

The term 'refurbished' made me a little nervous when thinking about buying an acoustic bass, but I am utterly happy with my purchase. There's a VERY minor defect in the finish on the edge of the sound hole, the frets have some lower ware, very minimal also, and one bridge pin is missing it's little inlay, but they sent a replacement for that in the packaging. So, yes there are some quirks, but well worth it if you are looking to save a little cash. The sound is great, the electronics work perfect, I am a happy customer.

Make Sure It Is What You Want

By Merrilll Guice

from Valdosta, GA

Comments about Ibanez Exclusive Acoustic-Electric Bass:

I am having a lot of fun with this bass! I bought it for practice and for playing with an acoustic church group as the Fender PJ with the 200 watt bassman was a little much for the group and to lug around. Most times I don't even plug it in as it plays with volume good enough for the practice room. For group play, I use an Acoustic AB50 to bring me up in the mix. Fit and finish were fine. I picked this up in store and had arranged for setup so it came into my hands with great action and a new set of Ernie Ball Earthwounds. You do have to remember that this is an acoustic instrument. If you dig deep like on a solid body electric you will get sounds you do not like. With the turner, onboard preamp, and other features, this is about the best acoustic bass you can get for the money. For another step up, its going to be pricey!
