Overview

There are a lot of guitars to choose from. The Ibanez EW20ASE Exotic Wood Ash Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar is different. Singular in looks and sound because it's made from exotic figured ash. The grain patterns are striking. It's amazing to find an exotic wood guitar in this price range.

For faithful reproduction of acoustic tone, a B-Band UST pickup is paired with the Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp with onboard tuner. Tune anytime, anywhere. You'll also be ready for whatever connections are available; the EW20ASE is equipped with balanced 1/4" and XLR outputs.

Paired with the fine wood are high-end cosmetic appointments also found on guitars costing much more: an abalone rosette, Ibanez chrome die-cast tuners and a natural high-gloss finish. If you've been holding back on an acoustic guitar purchase because you haven't found the right features at the right price, your wait is over.

Ibanez EW20ASE This is a fantastic guitar. I got through setting it up to my preferences a few nights ago and haven't been able to put it away since! This thing is definately NOT a $380.00 guitar. I don't think I am overstating when I say that for the money, it plays and sounds as good as or better than a Breedlove. I was shopping for a high-end guitar when I purchased this and the main reason I chose it is that I fell in love with the tone, character and looks. I had enough money to buy a Breedlove, Martin or Taylor, but why spend 8 times as much when the guitar you really like is only $379.00? I don't care what name is on the headstock; I just care about TONE and PLAYABILITY. I took this beauty back to Guitar Center to compare with the high-end one that I ALMOST bought and there was NO remorse; I had made the right decision. Of course, as I said, I had to set it up (guitars are never really set up right unless you pay $10,000.00 for a Gibson custom). And, contradictory to some other reviews, the tuner works FINE! People: you just need to get some ear-training so you can come close to the right note before fine-tuning with the tuner. And NO it does NOT have to be plugged in to work. I have always loved Ibanez guitars (My first was an MC-500 which is a beautiful electric better than a PRS). This is my first Ibanez Acoustic, however, and this purchase reinforced my loyalty.

Overall very nice guitar for money. Good sound, heavy construction. Seems like the guitar will last. Nice acoustic tone. Very attractive wood, good fit and finish. Very slight roughness at fingerboard edges. Can't tell you how the electric sounds since the onboard tuner/preamp failed before I had a chance to try it. My research show this to be common on the earlier models. I have to comment on the stunningly stupid front strap mount post. It is in the heel of the neck, extremely close to, but set below the level of the body. This means a decent large stiff strap will either not mount or rub hard against the body constantly. Aftermarket locks that clip on existing strap posts will not fit as there is no clearance. Buy replacement locking posts that extend out farther or tie your strap to the head.

Just Beautiful

Comments about Ibanez EW20ASE Exotic Wood Figured Ash Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is the best guitar I have ever played. The wood and tone is exceptional. The sound is breathtaking. I don't know how to explain this but the tone is like a beautiful energy. You won't be disappointed by purchasing this guitar today. When you get it you will feel like you made a great decision and start creating songs instantly. Please don't think twice before getting this guitar. Be kind to it and get some really good polish and fret cleaner to keep it in awesome condition, and it will perform everything you want it to. By the way, It sounds freakin awesome plugged in to an amp.

Super Value

Comments about Ibanez EW20ASE Exotic Wood Figured Ash Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Being an avid guitarist and an owner of a Taylor 414ce, I was in search for a guitar that I wouldn't be so afraid to "hurt". My Taylor (Isabelle) is my baby, and I paid a pretty penny for her, but my brand new Ibanez, which I have named Turtle, is right behind. The tone and playability of this guitar are amazing. Plugged in it sounds right up there with a thousand dollar guitar. If you're looking for a mid priced guitar with a high priced sound, this is the one. It is quite exsquisite cosmetically too. For the price, it's one of the best.

Comments about Ibanez EW20ASE Exotic Wood Figured Ash Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I do not understand (unless you get a lemon) how anyone could have issues with this guitar. Ok some might not like the looks (too extreme)but as far as quality goes DUH!....I use it for recording with a mic and without....AMAZING guitar, fun to play fun to record with.....isn't a guitar supposed to make you want to play?

THX Ibanez for this work of art

Comments about Ibanez EW20ASE Exotic Wood Figured Ash Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Great Guitar!!! I've had this for about 1.5 months and completely love it. I have this same guitar except mine is a darker "zebra-wood" pattern, but other than that it's the same. The electronics on this baby are amazing, especially the tuner. This is one beautiful peice of art that anyone will appreciate.

Ibanez EW20ASENT

Comments about Ibanez EW20ASE Exotic Wood Figured Ash Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The look, feel, playability of this guitar are a 5 star. I use Elixir lights on it and they behave well. It does sound decent amplified. It's no Taylor Expression System but does well to hold its own in that department. I like the fact that there is an XLR jack to plug into to bring the signal down to low impedance mic level. I played this once in a guitar store and fell in love with it. Had not planned on buying another guitar but this one was just a really nice guitar for the price. You would expect to pay more. Everyone will comment on how beautiful this guitar looks. The tuner is really nice and will get you close to perfect tuning. A little tweak might be necessary. Good intonation and action. Great sound unplugged. I give it a 4 because after about 2 years, I had to replace the jack. $20 to replace myself was not that much but it could not be repaired in any way. Works great after the repair. Have gigged with it, played it at church and my daughter also uses it to gig as well. The most used guitar in my collection. I give it a thumbs up. Keep the volume on it all the way up when playing over a PA or amp.

Made by God

Comments about Ibanez EW20ASE Exotic Wood Figured Ash Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have owned this guitar, or should I say it has owned me for more than a year. I went to GC to purchase a Fender Acoustic ad I am a Fender guy first and Ibanez guy second. When I saw the figured ash hanging on the wall I immediately thought that it was beautiful and way out of my price range, between $300 and $600. So I played all the other brands, Fender, Taylor, Gibson, Yamaha, etc first. It kept calling me and I kept thinking that I could not afford it. Finally I thought, what the heck, just because I play it doesnۡt mean I have to buy it, right? As I was getting it down I realized that it was unbelievably in my price range. I tuned it, as I always do, because any self-respecting guitar player tunes before he plays. (Should be a rule at GC, I'm just saying)... Once I started playing the standard acoustic open chords I was simply amazed, immediately I went into power chords then jazz chords. The on-board tuner is great, the Notch Filter controls feedback like no other, Fishman Pup is phenomenal, and EQ is exactly what it should be. What a blessing this guitar is, I had to buy it right away, and Paul at GC Tempe AZ, worked me a smokin' deal, and the rest is history. I play it no less than every day on stage and off. Only God could make this wood so beautiful and only Ibanez could make a guitar this awesome. I get compliments everywhere we play and the never-ending "Wow, what kind of Guitar is that?" Try - You'll Buy It...

I Fell in LOVE with this Guitar!!!!

Comments about Ibanez EW20ASE Exotic Wood Figured Ash Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I just started learning guitar at the ripe age of 49. My first guitar was a Takamine Jasmine acoustic. I was told by a good friend of mine that once you buy your first guitar, you're already looking for your next one. I said no way, I have my Takamine and I really like it. But...then I went into the Guitar Center store in Chicago, Ill and my eyes settled on a beautiful Ibanez Ash Acoustic/Electric guitar. I picked up the guitar and the sound that resonated from this instrument was unreal. For the price, it has amazing sound and actually sounds as good as much more expensive guitars. I visited "my guitar" for several weeks before finally biting the bullet and purchasing it. I've not regretted the purchase and would recommend that anyone that doubts the sound.....just pick her up and strum and you'll see what I mean. It's a GREAT guitar for a GREAT price and she's a beautiful instrument to boot.

Comments about Ibanez EW20ASE Exotic Wood Figured Ash Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I waited a bit before I wrote a review, because I wanted to give the potential buyer an accurate one.I've owned this guitar for 2 years now, and have no complaints. The finish is great, the neck is very comfortable, even with my pipefitter hands. She will feed back a touch in live conditions, but just turn up the notch filter a bit.I just put on some Diaddario exp13 strings and it sounds better than ever. I currently own 6 other guitars, you wont miss on this one.
