Overview

Ibanez has long considered their Artwood guitars as a "modern approach to acoustic guitar tradition." Now, with the Artwood Vintage models, including the AVT2E-NT, they delve even deeper. It features a mini dreadnought body with a solid Sitka spruce top, and mahogany back and sides. The back features a stylish wooden Mosaic backstrip inlay and gloss finish. The AVT2E-NT also comes with a mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard.

Other appointments include herringbone top purfling, white body binding, a double ring rosette, and chrome open gear tuners. Bringing this classic body into the modern era is an Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp with onboard tuner and balanced XLR and 1/4" outputs giving you versatility for plugged in situations.

Nice little guitar

Comments about Ibanez Artwood Vintage AVT2E-NT Mini Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I played the parlor model AVT1 at a store but decided on the AVT2e since it can be plugged into an amp. This model is more expensive than the others Ibanez makes, but the "larger" body makes it have a deeper tone and is louder acoustically as well. It's size is comparable to a 3/4 size Dreadnought and the neck is narrow enough for even the smallest hands to play. The volume is surprisingly loud for it's size and it has a well balanced tone that sounds much larger than it looks. The solid spruce top is very pretty and projects well. The guitar feels very solid and well made, the plugged in sound is pretty good and the tuner is very easy to use. I changed the wound strings right away and put phosphor bronze ones on instead of the 80/20 stock ones. The standard tuning is CGDA although there are several alternative tunings as well, so I suppose you could use uke chord shapes if you tuned it that way. I tuned mine a whole step down from standard tuning just due to that high A is really asking that string to stretch a whole lot. So far the guitar seems to stay in tune very well and has good intonation. I have had this guitar only a few days and it has been a lot of fun already. I think it will help me to get different sounds and to break out of the habit of using the same chords that I've become comfortable with.
