I was looking at a few different hollow-bodies (Epiphone, Gretsch & Ibanez). The Epiphones were nice, but too heavy for me because I jump around onstage a lot. The Gretsches were nice as well, but I own an Electromatic that has problems staying in tune, and the nut had to be replaced after a year and a half of playing it, so I was wary of picking up another Gretsch. I chose the Ibanez AF75, and for almost two years now, it's been a perfect fit. It has a very full, classic hollow-body sound (and look), and is easy to play. It stays in tune for the whole gig, and, unlike a lot of other hollow-bodies I've played, it never feels fragile or breakable. My only (very small) criticism is that there's no master volume control - just one for each pickup. FYI, I'm a rhythm guitarist, so if you play lead, you should read other reviews as well.

But was dissapointed with the sound quality of the pickups. Bought an Epiphone Dot instead. If you are looking for a warm fat sound, my advice, look at the Epiphone as well as this before you buy. The guitar looks very good, has a good neck and seems to be built with quality.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Returned my recently purchased Luna acoustic/ electric and searched the store for store credit. There she was the AF75 on the wall right behind the clerk. This guitar fits perfect in my hands, the knobs are out of the way. I removed the pick guard as my fingers tend to tap and now it is freedom. So easy to play, the response and action are out of this world. Throwing down the extra 2 bills was worth the day when Luna refused to play.. My first hollow body ever and it helps keep my panic attacks in check. Great big sound that captures your dexterity and brightens the emotions that you put into your playing in awesome clarity that you can't hear with other guitars. NICE ! !

    Great tone/bang for the buck

    By

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Wanted a secondary guitar to cover Jazz/Blues/Rockabilly duty and the Artcore really delivers. Impressive fit and finish right out of the box and also serves as a nice, quiet (non-amplified) option for quiet practice. Only one criticism - the tuning pegs need an upgrade. Have to re-tune after just about every song, and at this price point I don't expect deluxe pegs, but I know Ibanez can do better. Still, very happy with the purchase overall. A nice pickup for the casual jazz/blues player.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Bought this guitar online after much research.Came well packed with no damage and intonation and action spot-on right out of the box.Changed the strings to D'Addario Chrome XL's and it came alive! I use this guitar only for recording and I could'nt be more pleased with my purchase. It's got a full clear tone on all pickup settings,is very responsive to tone adjustments.Beautifull sound for jazz leads and rhythm on the neck pickup and cuts through bright and snazzy on the bridge pickup.Accomplishes everything I bought it for at a price that can't be beat.

    Great Guitar for the Price

    By

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Out of the box the guitar need a professional setup - especially with the floating bridge. I expected that anyway. When I received guitar back from one of the best "smiths" in town - the guitar was awesome. I can play jazzy tunes like Fly Me To The Moon to rockin with Nugent Snakeskin Cowboy. Great Value for a beginner to someone who wants to add a hollow body to his collection.

Just got one and love it.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Love, love, love the feel of this guitar. This thing plays like butter and sounds great too. I'm not a very big guy and the smaller body is much more comfortable for me to play than my J6 Montgomery. You will absolutely not find a better deal for a hollow body jazz guitar. This guitar can be played for style of music and well worth every penny without question.

    Versatile Guitar

    By

    from Elkton, MD

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar over a year ago now to fill a specific need. I wanted a guitar that had electric strings that could be heard well acoustically, which limited the playing field to jazz guitars. I also wanted a through-body neck and fixed bridge to maximize sustain. The electric strings "requirement" was more for tone, as I have acoustic guitars; but I also found this feature great for NEW players. I often recommend starting on something with electric strings (most new players will quit because their fingers hurt), and is also not "too loud" (as most new players are also concerned with someone hearing them). I played this for about an hour unplugged at first and found it incredibly versatile, and playable. After trying a few others, I kept coming back to this one (I prefer low fret action, and this had it). When I plugged it in, it proved itself just as versatile; but with the semi-hollow body, it does bear the limitation of resonating if too near the amp. Overall, this guitar is rather capable, and is especially appealing to someone new to guitar that wants to learn and have both acoustic AND electric options available. Easy on fingers with nice fret action, and a nice rich tone... even unplugged.

Feels like an acoustic, sounds like acoustic, electric, whichever you want it to

    By

    from Bothell, WA

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This is a real joy to play and listen to. I've never had a hollowbody electric, and am quite new to electrics. I have been playing acoustic of one kind or another for 40 years (classical, steel folk, and 12 string) and only took up an electric about 4 years ago. My first two electrics were Fender strat-types (one an actual Fender Squire Bullet). I was playing around with several hollow body guitars at GC and really loved how much closer they were to the feel of my acoustical steel 6 string, but was playable even without an amp. I play mostly 70s-80s pop and light rock, though want to learn to play the blues. This just feels right, and I don't feel like I have a "starter" guitar. I think I will be keeping and playing this one a long time. I traded in my Fender Squire and 12-string Ovation, and have no regrets. I also appreciated Lynnwood, WA GCs generous trade-in program. Win-win for both.

    It Makes Me Sound Good!

    By

    from Texas

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar about a month ago. I am very new to playing the guitar and all I had was a very cheap electric and a cheap acoustic. My guitar teacher has an older guitar that was very similar to this one. I went into Guitar Center and played with the Ibanez Artcores for a couple of hours. I tried many different models throughout various stores and finally decided I liked this one the most. I ordered it and had them set it up and put D'Addario XL Chromes Jazz Flatwound strings on it. I am still not a very good player, but when I started using this guitar, even my wife took notice. This guitar sounds great plugged in to my VOX amp and I really like that it still sounds very good when unplugged. It doesn't have the volume that my acoustic does, but that is good because I can play it without disturbing the wife. The fretboard is slightly smaller than my acoustic and I feel that I am fretting better because of that. It is a heavy guitar and feels great in the hands. I tune it about every third day, and even then it is just very minor tweaks. I highly recommend this guitar. It will make you sound better than you have a right to.
