I was looking at a few different hollow-bodies (Epiphone, Gretsch & Ibanez). The Epiphones were nice, but too heavy for me because I jump around onstage a lot. The Gretsches were nice as well, but I own an Electromatic that has problems staying in tune, and the nut had to be replaced after a year and a half of playing it, so I was wary of picking up another Gretsch. I chose the Ibanez AF75, and for almost two years now, it's been a perfect fit. It has a very full, classic hollow-body sound (and look), and is easy to play. It stays in tune for the whole gig, and, unlike a lot of other hollow-bodies I've played, it never feels fragile or breakable. My only (very small) criticism is that there's no master volume control - just one for each pickup. FYI, I'm a rhythm guitarist, so if you play lead, you should read other reviews as well.

I have been playing for about 40 years. Up until about 15 years ago I was playing full time. When you play for a living you generally have to abandon the idea that you will always be playing only the type of music you like. To pay the bills you have to be a "Jack-of-all-trades" player who can work in many styles. Playing in various styles usually requires a number of different guitars that will each deliver a variety of sounds. One night you are playing classic rock at a shot and beer bar and the next day you put on a tuxedo for a job playing some light jazz and standards for a wedding (they pay sooooo good).Having aquired many different guitars over years has been a real blessing. I own an early 90's Epiphone Sheraton, several Fender Strats, a Tele, 1976 Ibanez Les Paul, a 1981 Ibanez AM-50 and two nice Ibanez accoustics. As you can see I am a longtime Ibanez fan. If I only played one style of music, I would own one or two guitars that were perfect for that one style and spend a couple thousand on a top of the line guitar, but there has always been a need to compromise. I only buy good solid guitars that are reasonably priced, sound good and play well. I leave the high priced collector guitars to those that can really appreciate them and afford them. The one type of guitar I didn't own, was a real hollow body electric for those mellow "jazz" tones for jobs in more intimate rooms like lounges and restaurants and recording sessions that require that sound. I always dreamed of owning an Ibanez George Benson modal but the price is way out of my league. This Ibanez AF-75 has been the perfect solution for me. It is very affordable, beautiful to look at and sounds incredible. It may not be the best guitar out there for hardcore jazz players, but it is perfect for my needs. All I can say is go to a store and check it out. You'll be amazed. It may not be a sound that works for everyone but it exceeded by expectations.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I use this for Rocksmith on XBOX 360. This game can have terrible lag and this guitar allows you to hear yourself acoustically to help you get a better score. I've also played several gigs with this awesome arch top.

i think every thing is great about, like i said I'm 11 but i really picked it up, i thing this would be great for another one of my concerts and i really hope i get this guitar. This axe is as bad as king kong, really love the movement and color that was put and carved into this, i think this would be a wonderful tool for the many musicians out there and i sure as heck know i want it.

I have been waiting to buy this guitar for months. It came on sale so I finally pulled the trigger. Pulled it out of the box and couldnt believe how gorgeous it is in person. I havent been able to plug it in yet because we have a new baby in the house, but acoustically it sounds great. I actually had to make myself put it down to come write the review. If you have been considering this guitar, do it. Its an amazing value for the fit, finish, and sound. Super easy to play also.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I play a wide range of styles. Jazz, blues, rock, pop, folk, country, whatever the gig calls for. Among my fenders, gibsons, epiphones, guilds, taylors, had some great guitars, but none had that full rich jazz tone I was looking for for a specific type of music, jazz. I bought the Ibanez artcore af-75 and put some flatwound strings on it. Man did that do the trick'!. Has a full, robust sound, that works so beautifully playing jazz and complements my other guitars wonderfully. I just love the feel, and sound of the instrument, and on top of that, it's just plain beautiful to look at. 5 stars easy!!

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I sat down with the Ibanez AF75 at Guitar Center for over 3hrs. I had traded in a guitar and wanted a jazz/blues machine. I had come in with the Ibanez in mind, but also I had my eye on the Epiphone Wildkat, and the Epiphone Dot. I liked the tone of each, but I kept coming back to the Ibanez. Overall, the build on the Wildkat was poor; it couldn't stay in tune even without using the tremolo. I have owned several Dots over the years and had the same problem with each, the necks broke when adjusted, not by myself, but by 3 different luthiers. The Ibanez just has this warmth to it. Unplugged it sounds like every other semi hollow, maybe a bit tinnier, but plugged in, it just sings. This is perfect for blues/jazz/rock/ or in my case, being in the worship band at church. Do yourself a favor, go to Guitar Center, tune one up, and sit with it for 15min on your favorite amp, just a little overdrive and some reverb, and you will see exactly what I mean. Fantastic instrument. Unbelievable price for this quality. Mine stays in tune like a champ. Minor adjustments every few days. Can't believe it.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Returned my recently purchased Luna acoustic/ electric and searched the store for store credit. There she was the AF75 on the wall right behind the clerk. This guitar fits perfect in my hands, the knobs are out of the way. I removed the pick guard as my fingers tend to tap and now it is freedom. So easy to play, the response and action are out of this world. Throwing down the extra 2 bills was worth the day when Luna refused to play.. My first hollow body ever and it helps keep my panic attacks in check. Great big sound that captures your dexterity and brightens the emotions that you put into your playing in awesome clarity that you can't hear with other guitars. NICE ! !

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

For the love of all that is good and decent, don't deny yourself the pleasure of getting this guitar. I got the AF-75 Red Sunburst and it is AMAZING. I've read some reviews that complain about the pick-ups, in that case you can always upgrade, but I am happy just the way they are. Plenty of pedals and other effects can really maximize the sound. The craftsmanship is excellent, it is just so much fun to play. Even my wife had to give her a nickname "the mistress" because it can be very addictive hanging out with such a great instrument. Some people said it best, beware of the floating bridge, if you're careful changing the strings, you won't have a problem. Also it is a good idea to use some non-abrasive "markers" such as post-it around the corners of the bridge so you won't miss the place it should be when you re-string. If you move the bridge from where it is supposed to be, your whole intonation will go south, very fast. In my case just had to adjust the action a little bit, and it fixed the problem. I've read about "fret buzz" -- it still has a bit of that, but only when I get very spirited with it, but it does not come out of the amp, so it is not a big deal for me. The guitar is plenty loud if you want to play it unplugged, but it will definitely come to life when you plug her in. I can hear a very distinctive difference between the bridge and the neck pick-ups, and any little adjustments will create a very wide range of tonalities. -- each pick up has its own volume and tone, so you can really get a big range to explore what she has to offer. The guitar is light, but for some it might feel a bit "big" especially if you're used to place smaller body guitars such a stratocaster, but overall it is very comfortable (at least to me). The guitar does not come with a case, but for this price I got the exact recommended case (you can see my other review), and it fits perfectly without breaking the bank. get yourself one, you won't be disappointed!
