The Artwood Series is the embodiment of what Ibanez refers to as a "modern approach to tradition." Cutting-edge woodworking technology enables the guitar maker's luthiers to reproduce the sophisticated bracing techniques of the one-of-a-kind instruments of yesteryear. While tradition is obviously the hallmark of the Artwood Series, the company's decades-long search for the ultimate in acoustic tone has contributed to design alterations that give Artwood a voice uniquely its own.

Inspired by the singer/songwriter instruments so popular in the '70s, the AW58ENT is a traditional design dreadnought for those seeking a quality acoustic that won™t break the bank. The time-honored combination of a solid Sitka spruce top, joined with rosewood back and sides, delivers a rich, punchy tone that belies its modest price. A rosewood fretboard, black ABS body binding, a black and white rosette, chrome die-cast tuners and a high-gloss finish put the finishing touches on this quintessential beauty that is impossible to resist. Equipped with an Ibanez AEQ210T onboard preamp, you™ll be able to handle a variety of different situations from the studio to the stage.

This is way more guitar than it has a right to be. . .

Comments about Ibanez AW58ENT Artwood Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I buy a lot of cheap guitars. It's what I do these days. I buy open box, and I buy scratch and dent stuff all the time. I'm always looking for that one cheap guitar that will surprise the heck out of me.

I'm 57 years old, and I've been playing one instrument or another since I was a toddler. I started on piano, then played drums, then guitar, then a host of other fretted stringed instruments as I went through the classical training to be a luthier. Does that make me super-reviewer? Nope. It means I have more than just brand loyalty going on here.

I've also owned a few of the scratch & dent Chinese made Ibanez guitars, including an Artcore semi-hollow electric, and a mahogany dreadnaught acoustic. The difference in quality between those two was night and day. The electric was gorgeous, and the acoustic was, well – crude. Playable, but crude.

When I saw this thing and a chance to check out a laminated rosewood box and solid spruce top for this price I thought it was worth the risk and snapped one up. I can't begin to tell you how happy I am with that decision. I don't mind the sound of a mahogany box, but the increased clarity and bottom end of a rosewood box are just so drool worthy. Honestly, this thing sounds as good as anything 4 times its price. Would love it if Ibanez was sourcing them somewhere other than China, but that seems to be way of the world these days.

One small point, be prepared to do a little setup work at the saddle end. Somebody at the factory likes their strings country mile off the fretboard.

Comments about Ibanez AW58ENT Artwood Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Use the guitar for practicing and using in small venues. Great quality instrument for the price. In my opinion the best guitar is this price range by far, and also holds it's own against low-end martins. The solid top just makes it sound better after time, and the rosewood back and sides create a unique warm sound. Haven't used it with an amp that much, but the electronics seem to be solid. Overall, a great quality guitar that is well built and has a great sounds. For the price, and maybe more, you can't beat it. My only complaint is that it does feel a bit bulky and it does require some constant tuning.

Very well put together guitar. I love that is has the balanced and 1/4 inch jack output along with a built in tuner.

I was between this and the less expensive model and the feel of the neck and not having it painted sold me.

          • Setup Poorly From Factory

          Best Uses

Comments about Ibanez AW58ENT Artwood Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I much prefer the sound of rosewood to mahogany and was pleased to find Ibanez offering a guitar with rosewood back and sides for such a good price. You will need to set this up on your own though. It came setup very poorly from the factory. It plays great now after sanding down the bridge saddle and adjusting the truss rod. Still, I think this is a good value. It offers you a solid stika spruce top, rosewood back and sides (usually only found on higher-end acoustics), a built-in tuner with EQ and dual outputs. It is a great value for the $$.
