Overview

Ibanez created the Artwood Series to be an ode to their rich tradition of acoustic guitars while adding the modern accoutrements needed by today's guitarist. The AW54CEOPN is a visual stunner with a solid mahogany top (with mahogany back, sides, and neck) and an open pore natural finish that really shows off the mahogany's beautiful woodgrain. Adding to its aesthetic charm is a black and white multi-rosette, a cutaway that helps you access the entire rosewood fingerboard, a rosewood AW bridge with bone saddle, tortoise pickguard and chrome die-cast Grover tuners.

The mahogany construction provides you with plenty of warmth naturally, but when you need to plug in, the AW54CEOPN has a Fishman Sonicore pickup and Ibanez's AEQ210TF preamp that features a simple 2-band control, which makes adjusting the sound easy while providing plenty of bottom. It also has a phase switch for reducing feedback and user-friendly onboard tuner.

Case sold separately.

Had low expectations and expected to put it right back. But this seriously rumbles and hoots. Blows away any other full 'hog near its price by a mile. And gives the rest up to $1500 a run for their money, including the Martin D-15M and DRS1, which are fantastic but way more boomy of course, so maybe trickier to record. This Ibanez is full, rich, plenty deep, very choral, and you can ping crystal harmonics to boot. Satin finish and plain trim are perfect for this wood. The natural grain is a silky beaut. Fits a bill and will def. be a go-to of mine for years to come. Very surprised and impressed. For this money, you're in for a real treat. Awesome find. Enjoy. (I don't give anything 5 stars unless it's absolutely *perfect imo regardless of money.)

The guitar itself would earn 5 stars. Beautiful instrument that sounds great! I compared it to a $1500 Martin and, admittedly, while the Martin sounded better, it wasn't $1200 worth of better! There really wasn't that much of a difference. However, I had to knock off two stars for the service I received at Guitar Center. I had ordered the same guitar from Musician's Friend for the same price (and free shipping), but it was on backorder and would have taken another month. So I cancelled that order and went to Guitar Center. This was not a new instrument; it was a floor model that had been in who knows how many hands. Yet they charged me the same price as if I had purchased it brand new (same price as Musician's Friend). Nevertheless, I loved the look and sound enough that I went along with the purchase after looking it over for scratches or dents. Unfortunately, I concentrated on the body and the neck and didn't examine the headstock. When I got home I discovered that the back top corner was chipped pretty badly. I sanded it down, stained and refinished it so it's not too noticeable, but it should have warranted some knocked off the price. It wasn't new; it was damaged, but they charged me the same as for new. But since I didn't notice it until I got home, it's my word against their's, so I didn't bother going back to fuss over it. It was disappointing, as I have never had a negative experience at Guitar Center prior to this.

Comments about Ibanez AW54CEOPN Artwood Solid Top Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I picked one of these up from the Dayton Ohio store today and I love it! I was in the hunt for a acoustic-electric guitar for a bluegrass band I recently joined. I have been playing Rock and Roll for over 40 years now and I never really was an acoustic guy. I have a Martin D-40 and I would never take it out of the house for any gigs so I wanted a dependable decent priced A/E. I played some high end Taylors, Gibson's and of course Martin guitars. I grabbed the Ibanez just out of curiosity and I couldn't put it down....... Seriously! Why spend over a grand for a acoustic guitar and worry about it all night long getting beat up at the gig or in and out of the truck draggin it home. Ibanez sure did their homework on this one. Great thick sound, good feel and the darker mahogany finish gives it an old school Robert Johnson look. If something ever happens to this guitar I will definitely buy another one. I'm not knocking the high acoustics but if you need a dependable gigging guitar you might want to seriously check one of these out.

Comments about Ibanez AW54CEOPN Artwood Solid Top Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Got this guitar today as a travel guitar, so that I don't have to fly with my irreplaceable guitar. I'm very impressed so far. Best sounding guitar in the price range. Stays in tune pretty darn well. Looks good. Floor model's strings weren't balance through the pick up, so I asked salesman to unbox a fresh on. That's the one I bought because the strings were nicely balance through the pick up. Always good to check for string balance before you buy. Definitely give this model a try. Played a gig with it a few hours after I bought it and found it quite enjoyable to play.

Comments about Ibanez AW54CEOPN Artwood Solid Top Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have a 1970 guild that I bought new and it is in excellent shape I always took good care of it. . I was looking for another acoustic guitar to take to practice for a good price that sounds good .When I use the guild all I do is worry about it because I use it to record and play out and in my mind it just cant be replaced . After buying this guitar I don't think I will be taking the Guild any were the sound on this guitar is awesome the action is excellent and the cutaway way lets me get past the 12TH fret .I recorded it direct in thru pro tools and thru my fender blues JR it recorded great both ways haven't played out yet but I'm sure it will be excellent thru a PA also. Try one of these Ibanez guitars and compare it to a higher priced Model of any other brand and you will be very happy with the sound price and how it plays .I know I am a very happy camper and know that if something happens to it unlike the Guild this guitar can be replaced for a good price. I also know I can leave the no name old beater acoustic at home and take this one camping and have something decent to play.

I replaced the strings with a set of Elixir poly web just because they are what I use on my acoustic's. I just like them better than any strings and last twice as long .It played exc. before and sounds even better now. I would still recommend it to anyone looking for a well priced guitar that sounds as good as some higher priced models.Check this one out and see for yourself the guys I jam with thought it cost a lot more than it did and when they played it they loved it.

I've picked this up a dozen times and played it in Guitar Center. I have no idea why its not at home yet.... I have other guitars the latest was a Martin D15M. Love the sound of mahogany. The only negative that I can think of are the bass strings. They sound dead... I also played another Martin D15M at Guitar Center that also sounded dead.. Its the strings. I put Martin M240's ( medium light's ) on my D15M and it brought everything to life. I'd fully expect those strings to do the same for this..
