Overview

Ibanez has long described Artwood as a "modern approach to acoustic guitar tradition." Now, with the 22.8" scale AVT1NT Artwood Vintage Tenor Acoustic Guitar, Ibanez delves fathoms deeper into guitar building tradition. The AVT1NT promises to return the tenor guitar back to it's rightful place in the folk instrument pantheon. It features a bone nut to deliver a well-balanced sound and a bone saddle on a distinctively contoured rosewood bridge. Ideal for strummers and traveling musicians who want to keep their chops up, this smaller-bodied guitar gives you plenty of tone and projection despite its smaller frame thanks to the combination of solid Sitka spruce top, magohany neck, back and sides, and rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include a black and white multi-rosette, and open gear tuners with pearl buttons.

Comments about Ibanez AVT1NT Artwood Vintage Tenor Acoustic Guitar:

It would have been great if the top didn't crack 18 months later. This instrument has been treated with care by me only, who spent most of my life as a classical guitarist. I was told Guitar Center could not help me with this issue.

Fun, lively little instrument. Easily transportable and allows for a variety of intuitive tunings fit for bluegrass runs or European folk fingerpicking.

Surprisingly good sound and decent guitar

Comments about Ibanez AVT1NT Artwood Vintage Tenor Acoustic Guitar:

I just got this yesterday from the guitar center, which I ordered over the phone. I am a life-long classical guitarist, turned uke/dulcimer player. Starting listening to these on youtube and kept coming back to this one as the best I could do. Finally ordered it and waited for it trying to resign myself to it not being anything really special at this price. Well, I almost fell over when I heard it, was stunned at the beautiful bell-like ringing sound of it. Love the long, lean shape. It fit nicely into a classical guitar hard-shell case I put a blanket in to take up the slack. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I thought the action could have been lower. But, as I decided to tune it down a whole step anyway, at least no buzzing. I tell you I'm really excited about this new find, and having had one in my hands for one day wonder why tenors haven't caught on like ukes.

Comments about Ibanez AVT1NT Artwood Vintage Tenor Acoustic Guitar:

I like this guitar -- am enjoying playing it. The downside has been finding a case or gig bag for it. I ended up with a case for a classical guitar, and added some padding. But the instrument itself is a lot of fun.

Comments about Ibanez AVT1NT Artwood Vintage Tenor Acoustic Guitar:

Sound is pretty good and will probably improve with time. The action is a bit high for my taste. Unfortunately my luthier tells me that will require a new bridge (thinner I guess) as there is no where to go as it is. Not sure I want to throw more $$ at it, but I might. I bought it to use as a kick around, car camping and such and it's fine for that. I'd give it 3 or 4 stars if the action could be lowered without a new bridge...

Comments about Ibanez AVT1NT Artwood Vintage Tenor Acoustic Guitar:

LOUD, ringing tone, good neck with very close intonation. Will easily take an alternate tuning (I use a lower Octave Mandolin GDAE) with heavier-guaged strings. Very nice sound, and the size makes it excellent for traveling and easier to play at home. ONE BIG FLAW: Good luck trying to find a hard shell case. Not everyone wants a gig bag....some of us like more protection and are a little more old school. It took ages to find a case, and I finally was able to locate one that fit an old Martin size 2 Parlour Guitar. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tenor to anyone....absolutely great price and quality, solid wood construction...simply a joy to play. As an aside: I'm not into straight melody/bluegrass/celtic.... I'm mostly into chord-melody/jazz and finger style vs plectrum playing. This instrument can handle a lot of play up the neck. A++++

A great value and a very well made instrument for the price. I'm tuning lower to GDAE, with a heavier gauged string, and this little git handled it perfectly and intonation is good up the neck. Looking forward to playing this a lot.

Comments about Ibanez AVT1NT Artwood Vintage Tenor Acoustic Guitar:

I was thrilled when I saw that Ibanez had come out with a tenor guitar. I currently own a Goldtone tenor and it is a blast to play. With only four strings, the chords are a breeze and I use it as my number one instrument for songwriting. Its compact size travels well and it is a real featherweight. I can't rate the Ibanez. I've never seen one. What I can say is that tenor guitars are NOT a kid's guitar or a toy. The are beautiful instruments and one should be in your collection.

Comments about Ibanez AVT1NT Artwood Vintage Tenor Acoustic Guitar:

For the money, this little tenor can't be beat. It's lightweight, X-braced, solid wood and has bone nut and saddle too! Made in China (accounting for the low price)it has a more refined sound than the plywood-bodied Mexico-manufactured Little Tenor that Martin put out a couple years back. Mine has very minor finish flaws but intonation and fretwork are fine, in fact, for the price, excellent! Kudos to Ibanez for putting out a tenor guitar!
