Overview

Ibanez has long described Artwood as a "modern approach to acoustic guitar tradition." Now, with the 25" scale AVN1BS Artwood Vintage Parlor Acoustic Guitar, Ibanez delves fathoms deeper into guitar building tradition. With that in mind, the AVT1BS features a bone nut to deliver a well-balanced sound and a bone saddle on a distinctively contoured rosewood bridge.

Ideal for strummers and traveling musicians who want to keep their chops up, this smaller-bodied guitar gives you plenty of tone and projection despite its smaller frame thanks to the combination of solid Sitka spruce top, magohany neck, back and sides, and rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include a single-ring abalone rosette, chrome open gear tuners with butterbean knobs, and a wooden mosaic backstrip inlay.

Case sold separately.

Comments about Ibanez AVN1BS Artwood Vintage Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this guitar because I wanted a small, easy to pack instrument for travel and casual use. There are just times when the big boxes aren't convenient. And, though the guitar is small, the almost 25" scale keeps it from feeling like a toy.

I love it, with some caveats. When I got it, the action was too low, resulting in excessive string buzz. I raised the bridge saddle with a thin cedar shim which solved the action problem and warmed up the tone a bit. I also replaced the strings with Martin SP phosphor bronze lights (12-54), which I think suit the instrument better than the 80/20 strings that were on it from the factory.

After several weeks of regular playing, the guitar has really come alive. The tone is fuller and more expansive. It doesn't have the complex tone of an all solid-wood instrument, but it projects well with surprising power. The finish is excellent, the frets are nicely done, the appointments are well considered, the intonation is great, tuning is very stable, and the guitar is loud. With this series, Ibanez are delivering a lot of guitar in a small package for a ridiculously low price. Highly recommended.

Comments about Ibanez AVN1BS Artwood Vintage Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

I would have never thought ythat an Ibanez guitar could be of such a high quality, I was amazed also by the perfect setup, I am usually very picky and I always find something to adjust/tune up every time that I buy a new guitar. The AVN 1 is the only guitar, together with a Taylor 314 that I bought 15 years ago, that in my opinion did not need any kind of adjustment. The guitar is just great, and I got it almost at ha;lf price because I took advantage of a short promotional sale from Guitar Center. But now that I have played it, I can say that I would have been happy to ay the full price !

Traditional look and feel

By Gary

from Sugar Land

Comments about Ibanez AVN1BS Artwood Vintage Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

Wanted a parlor style guitar for finger picking. After looking / playing the Washburns, Alvarezs and some others I decided on the Ibanez AVN1-BS based on the sound and appearance. It was the best looking of all the others but has the same thick poly coating and plastic binding as all the other guitars made in China, Korea or Indonesia. Tuners are classic style and hold position well. The supplied strings are excellent. I had to order this guitar and was disappointed when it arrived to find that the neck is painted a flat black. The Ibanez web page shows the neck to have a clear reddish stain. The flat black finish on the neck really contrasts with the white plastic binding giving the appearnce of a cheaply made guitar. In addition, there is no wood grain visible through the finish on the back or sides - almost appears as though it is painted. The guitar is sufficiently loud and the individual notes are clear. I find bar chords on this guitar to be somewhat difficult. The headstock would exemplify the traditional design better if it was slotted like the Washburn or Alvarez. All things considered I'm somewhat satisfied with the guitar and, depending on the circumstances, would possibly recommend it to a friend. It would be nice if GC stocked the Ibanez or aftermarket hard case for this guitar.
