Overview

The first single-cutaway Artist in 30 years, the Ibanez ART2100 Artist guitar is an affordable, old-school-style solidbody with top-of-the-bill features. The contoured mahogany body has a mahogany set neck for excellent resonance. The Artcore ACH1-S and ACH2-S humbuckers filter out interference from electrical sources while using ceramic magnets to pump out all the crunch and sustain you'll need to rock the house. The Gibraltar III tailpiece lets you easily adjust each string for solid intonation. The short 24-2/3" scale makes note bending a breeze on the bound rosewood fretboard with 22 medium frets. The 12th fret has a special ART inlay for a modest touch of flair.

Case sold separately.

I purchased this guitar in November from my local GC. After playing this guitar for 3 months, I thought I would be able to write an unbiased review. The good: The guitar plays well. Right out of the box, the set up wasn't too bad. I thought the action was slightly high, but there was no issues with playing at all. The pick ups are pretty decent for stock. Tonal quality is good, and you can get a wide variety of sound from them. Hardware seems good also, minus the tuners. I have no "static" in the knobs, switches, or plug-in. The finish is very nice (I purchased the Transparent Cherry). The back of the body, neck, and head is all black. The bad: I started having tuning issues a few weeks after purchase. After about 20 min of playing, I would have to re-tune the guitar. After a little investigation, I found the 3rd string tuner was slipping. Ibanez states on their paperwork that come with the guitar that tuners are not covered in warranty. I replaced the tuners in about 20 minutes with Grover Midsized Rotomatics which were direct replacements. After about 10 weeks, the plastic stock nut broke off between the 6th string and the edge. This was in warranty, but Ibanez requires their customers to pay for insured shipping for repair. I don't live anywhere close to an authorized service center so.. I found a local and reputable Luthier who did a re-nut with bone for $27. The bone nut did improve what I thought was already a good tone. I might have voided the warranty, but oh well.. The only other issue I think is worth mentioning is that this guitar is neck heavy. I don't mind a heavier guitar, but the balance is a little off and is heavy in the neck. Not too much of a big deal, but if you stand and play, especially if you gig for a few hours, you might take this into consideration. In summation I do like the guitar. I feel that Ibanez could use a little better materials, even if this isn't a high end model. But the guitar is still a keeper and I plan on playing it for years to come.

BRUTALITY

By Casey Duncan

from vancouver, Wa

This guitar is absolutely awesome.First off, playing unplugged gives you a near acoustic sound with great mids and bass. then, plugging in. The pickups on this guitar have more output than anything ive ever played in my life, and everything comes through crystal clear, no matter how distorted. Then the neck, the medium frets and low action make it impossible not to thrash. This guitar rules.....

Such incredible sustain...

By Chris

from Boston

This guitar is beautiful. I went out looking for a solid body with a set-in neck, and played a lot of guitars before I found this one. Very well built, sharp-looking, set up almost perfectly right off the rack. Clean or nasty, this guitar sounds fantastic through a hot set of tubes. I have to work to get it to feed back. The intonation is perfect, and it stays in tune even after a good thrashing. Fit and finish are near perfect, and the hardware is exceptional. Very comfortable to play for hours - I hate to put it down. Dare I say, I like the feel of this instrument better than any Les Paul I've ever held. I expected to pay a lot more for a guitar like this. My first electric was an Ibanez, and now this may be my last electric. Except that now I want to get another one in black!

Wow.

By Space Cadet Alli

I received this little guitar a few weeks ago. It has the best tone I've heard on such an affordable guitar. It's crunchy when I need it to be, and smooth when I command. The art100 is sure to be my favorite guitar of all time. It's nice and light so when I lug it around town, it doesn't start to get heavy, and the transparent cherry color is quite gorgeous.

This Guitar IS FREAKIN AWESOME

By Frank Maree

from Conway, AR

So I got the Silver one about a few weeks ago. When I got it home, opened it up, and I was amazed at the color of this guitar, fornt and back. So I plugged it up to my Marshall amp, and I was immediately blown away by the sound of this guitar for this price that I paid. The rest of the members of the band I am in were like that is awesome guitar. It has that Gibson feel and look to it, but its not a Gibson. For anybody that is look to buy a guitar and is on a budget get this guitar you will also be amazed on how it sound looks and feels.

Great Guitar

By Devin

This guitar just arrived today and looked and sounded amazing right out of the box. I am having a hard time putting it down. It is light and fits right in your hands. It is very comfortable to hold. It seems very solid, and shines in the light. I am having a blast with it and I am sure you will too.

Incredible

By Neil

from Pekin, Illinois

This Guitar is insane. Sustain is awsome. Out of the box all that was needed was a minor bridge adj and I scaped the stock strings for a better set. Does not matter what type of Amp you plug into still sounds great. This Guitar plays like ones I have had costing hundreds of dollars more. Thinking of buying another one for a spare. Do not be afraid to buy this guitar its well worth the price and more.

great great guitar

By (Sin)theticDownSide

Great value for sure. Mahogany body, set neck, great pickups even for stock. Was originally gonna get an LP but due to the weight, it's too much for my back. This little baby only weighs about 8 lbs. The neck is smooth with no jagged frets. The transparent cherry is absolutely beautiful and I can't stop playing it. Great clean tone, great distortion too. I love the Gibraltar bridge along with the set neck for great sustain. You will have absolutely no regrets if you get this guitar.

Excellent Guitar At A Great Price

By Anthony

from Las Vegas, NV

I picked up this guitar 5 days ago and must say that I can't wait to get home from work each day to pick it up and play. I choose the transparent cherry finish and have to say that this guitar is one of the most beautiful insturments I own, the finish is flawless. The fit and finish on the construction is first rate. There are no sloppy joints or loose parts. Very nice. It is a very light guitar which leads to a small degree of neck dive, but nothing that makes it uncomfortable or ackward to play. The body is thinner than most other single cuts and the neck is thin and fast. Unplugged this guitar has a suprising acoustic tone but it really shines when you plug it in. The dual humbuckers have an incredible output as well as a wide tonal range. Both clean and distorted this guitar sounds great. Overall, for the price this guitar is not only suitable for beginning players but as a great instrument for seasoned players as well. Do yourself a favor and look into this guitar.

I LOVE THIS AXE

By Deekah Wyatt

from Detroit, MI

I was never a big fan of Ibanez guitars. I don't play much face-melting metal so their sound never appealed to me for my own personal use. When I started shopping for a decent Les Paul imitation (ANYTHING BUT AN EPIPHONE), I ran across the ART100. I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. The pickups have enough bite to shred while still sounding warm enough to have some soul. Truly a versatile instrument, great quality at a great price.

Fantastic

By Rich

I have been playing guitar for over twenty years, and this is the best guitar I have ever played. I recently went into my local G.C. to buy a new guitar, had no make or model in mind.I played everything from Gibsons to a $2,000 PRS. This guitar outplayed them all! I couldn't believe it! So glad that I bought it!

Can't beat this one..

By Adrian

from Santa Clara

Just ordered my 3rd ART100. I know have the Cherry, Black (no longer being offered, so glad I got it while I could) and the Violin Sunburst. (on order) These guitars not only look incredible, they play and sound amazing - right out of the box. The bridge pick-up is very sensitive and when pushing it through some serious crunch and/or distortion, you hear all the nuances - great for rhythm & solos. The neck pick-up is somewhat muddy when playing chords (again, with a lot of crunch), but awesome for high note solos and clean strumming. Hardware, fit and finish is what you would expect from guitars costing a lot more. Neck and contoured body is extremely comfortable (better than any standard Gibson Les Paul) and it does not weigh as much, so perfect for gigs. I do recommend changing to strings to a 009 gauge for rock - once the strings are stretched and settled, the ART100 stays in tune nicely. My collection includes a Gibson Les Paul studio, USA Fender Strat HSS, and a custom Carvin. The ART100 definitely holds up it's own against these more expensive guitars. I highly recommend it for beginners and experienced players who need a great looking awesome sounding and light weight guitar.

Unbeatable for the price

By Izzy K.

from Holmen, WI

This axe is a workhorse! I got this guitar 7 years ago, I was blown away by the craftsmanship for the price. It rivals my Les Paul. There are two things I would warn against though. The first is the pickups. The output is garbage. I put a set of Zakk Wylde EMGs and that made this guitar my main player to this day. The next complaint, which is all too common among lower end guitars, is the tuners. Again, easily rectified with some Grovers. Outside of those two minor things, this guitar is an amazing value. It sounds great, the sustain is awesome, and the overall playability is unmatched for its price range. It's in your best interest to try one for yourself.

AMAZING.

By PARAMORE fan 23.5

I was in the market for a new guitar and I really wanted a Les Paul. My cousin asked one of his guitar obsessed friends and he said to get an Ibanez. i searched for a good looking Ibanez for about 2 minutes when I saw this beauty. I saved up the money ant went to try it out. Within 5 minutes of playing. I knew this was the one. i got it, brought it home, and man it delivers! It stays in tune after a good shred, it's pickups are the BOMB! its can sound really clean or really crunchy. and everything in between! it can handle all genres and ROCKS! I reccomend this to anyone, especially those who want a LP but don't want to be a poser!

Incredible is an under statement

By Paul M

After 34 years of hacking around my playing has improved 10 fold in the last 3 months of ownership.I thought out the box this time and struck pay-dirt.16 guitars later I will never ever ever sell this baby.I cannot cannot believe this guitar for the money.I think this 1s going to be around for a long time, with Ibanez making a fortune on this.Theres no wish list left after this purchase,It complete with assume sound the best in woods(what nice work they did on the finish) great pickups, for rock and clean and so noise free sound.Light but solid.Great to get down on.And looks so cool on a rocker.Id love to see buck and eric play theses on stage. All you famous guitar makers out there here is my word to you..Pack it up......Your done.Buy into Ibanez if your smart.Keep rockin and buck if you read this buy for you and eric and send 1 to alan too.
