Comments about Ibanez AEW51 Exotic Wood Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Shopping for a new guitar is a very personal thing. Despite manufacturer's claims and the reviews of others, we usually do well to find a guitar that looks, feels, and sounds right to *us*. For me, the Ibanez AEW51NT is that guitar. First, I wanted a guitar that was acoustic/electric. This guitar is certainly that, even having an XLR output so that it can be plugged into a mixing board. Second, I wanted a thinner body guitar, not a full-size dreadnought. Nothing beats the full-bodied sound of a dreadnought, but I wanted something more comfortable. This guitar is thinner and narrower than a dreadnought. The thinner body means less bass unamplified, but that is fine as I use it mainly for finger-style. Third, I wanted a guitar that, let's face it, looks good. The tri-color on this model is awesome! And it has a fairly thick gloss finish that gives the guitar more durability and less susceptibility to environmental changes. A few closing thoughts: This guitar came with a great action. I didn't have to tweak the neck or anything. It looks wonderful. It's comfortable to play. It sounds great. I didn't care for the factory strings however, so I changed them out. For the cost of this guitar, Ibanez gives a great "bang for the buck." And I caught it on a good enough sale that I can afford to get a hard case for it. A great guitar for me – personally.
