As my first acoustic-electric guitar, I couldn't ask for more. I've had this guitar for a little less than a year, but that's long enough to know how good of a guitar it really is! It all starts with the natural flame sunburst top. It really catches the eye! Also, the super sleek neck and head really turn heads too! That's enough for the looks, but now for the sound and other qualities. It has a nice crisp tone that is as good as it gets. However, it also is nice, soft, and warm when you want it to be. The tuners are also amazing. I rarely have to adjust them! Finally, the tuner that comes in the guitar is also stunning! It is so easy to tune the guitar with just the push of a button and turn of the tuners. It sounds amazing. Put all of these qualities together and you have one great guitar!

This guitar sounds great, but it doesn't stay in tune for long. I don't know if it could stay in tune for long if the stock tuners are replaced with better or even locking tuners. Just like how another reviewer said, I noticed that the frets are physically sharp. I think the only electronics within this guitar worth having is the tuner. I don't really like the EQ. Running through the clean channel of an amp sounds fuzzy.

Best $300 I ever spent!

By Christianf

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have had this guitar for about 6 months now, and it's still going strong. It sounds great plugged in, or unplugged. I have no major complaints, just the fact that the 1/4 inch jack was somewhat loose, though this only took about five or ten minutes for me to fix. It's great for soft melodies or heavy rocking out. Overall, it's probably one of the best sounding guitars I've ever played.

Best Acoustic-Electric in its price range

By 3chords1scale

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I generally believe that you get what you pay for in this world. With this guitar, I got so much more. Great action, vibrant sound, reliable electronics. This is the perfect first guitar. It's also a great "road" guitar if you're doing the whole Kerouac thing and want to keep your fingers loose but don't want to travel with that precious $3000 Martin.

I bought this guitar a ...

By Xeramin

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar a few months ago. It was the only acoustic in the store that really made a strong first impression. Needless to say I couldn't in all consciousness leave it there. It's been about 3 months and I've had absolutely no problems with it so far, other than with the strings it came with. It's a beautiful piece and I would recommend it to any beginner looking for a thinner (less expensive) guitar without compromising too much of the lower/fuller tones.

Great Acoustic-Electric Guitar!!!

By PLSNR

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is the first guitar I ever bought, and I have no regrets ever since I bought it. Everything is perfect about this guitar, I would recommend it to anybody. Everybody that plays my Ibenez falls in love with it. I tried playing other guitars before I bought the Ibenez and no other guitar could top this one. Even hooking it up to an amp it sound awesome, so if your looking to buy a good Acoustic-Electric and don't want any regrets in the long run, this one is truely the one to get.

Great bang for the buck!

By James P.

from Akron, NY

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I did a lot of research and tried probably 40 or more guitars. I never had any experience with Ibanez, but once I picked this guitar up and played it...I didn't want to put it down. I tried many others before finally deciding on this one, but nothing that I was looking for that was under $1500 even came close to the sound and feel that the AE20 has. It meets or exceeds the sound of $1000-$1500 Taylors when plugged in. When playing unplugged, the sound isn't as pronounced (it's a good guitar to play unplugged in the living room without disturbing the rest of the household)...but that's the point of an electric acoustic: plugging it in. The first time I took this to play in church, I was amazed at the sound that it put out through the PA system that we use. The on-board EQ was easy to dial in to get the correct sound for the room and the other band members (with much more experience) were impressed with the guitar, especially for the low price tag. Not bad for a room that seats 450 and has a high ceiling. I strongly recommend this guitar for hobbyists to active players alike. You won't be disappointed.

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

When I'm playing without plugging in, it's not too loud, but has a good volume, and a good sound, but when I plug in, the quality of the sound increases a good deal, and compliments come in about it all the time. It even looks as good as it sounds! This is the best guitar I've owned for sure.

Magnifique

By Steve E

from Wayne, NJ

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I play guitar, but I am not a guitarist. As a bassist of years, I've dipped into the world of acoustic guitars, smacking around an old yamaha passed down from my uncle. This guitar is perfect for an experienced musician to get started on and a beginner alike. The ultra thin neck would be perfect for overcoming the daunting obstacle of the bar chord for new players. The full sound of the guitar while fingerpicking is great for blues and folkier stylings, and the tinny snarl while picking is perfect for metal or alternative. It has a decent preamp and comes packaged with a set of d'addario's; making an out of the box restringing unnecessary. A great guitar, and I have no bones to pick over it.

THIS IS A MUST HAVE FOR ANYONE

By sue

from MI

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Ive had this guitar for a month now. Bought it from GC. In Saginaw Mi. I absolutely love it. I read reviews on alot of guitars before choosing this one. I am using a small Behringer Accoustic Amp and its sounds wonderful. And even more important the ACTION plays like a dream, so very smooth. Not to mention the dynamite looks of the guitar itself. The Vintage Violin finish was flawless and the guitar looks much better in person than in a picture. I find mine to be really more of an orange and yellow color than true sunburst. The finish was flawless, but the frets showed poor manufacturing clean up. Glue residue. But it came right off with fretbord cleaner. Really if thats the only thing I can find wrong with it... OH WELL. Im telling you that you will not be disappoint in this instrument. Just simply wonderful.

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Just started playing and this is my first guitar, borrowed a friends Washburn he wanted to sell and didn't like the size and feel, tried the Ibanez AEG20E and fell in love, it felt great, smaller body & neck size and looks very exspensive,I have had many compliments. The wife says it even sounds better than the friends I had borrowed and what an excellent price and craftmanship, cant find a thing wrong with it, what a great first guitar. Thanks Guitar Center

Just Listen

By Bob Bernat

from Dbn.Hts, Mi.

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The looks of this guitar will make you pick it up, the finish, the rosette, the action, but just listen to it. The tones are evenly balanced from the booming low E to crisp highs & midranges. What's unexpected is the acoustic projection from a thinner depth body. Now plug it in and enjoy the Fishman package. I have owned for 4 months and enjoy every minute of play time. It also makes a perfect wingman to my SA-160 electric with the same finish.

By bhguitarguy

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Everything's ok except for the tuner. It's a problem with the tuner on the preamp, not the guitar itself. The Fisman SST tuner in the preamp seems to be bad, seein how the tuner's broken on 3 differen't friends guitars. So if u can, before you buy it, try to buy a warranty or something. The guitar itself is awesome, it's just the preamp ain't all that great.

Stellar!!

By ed satterlee

from Milwaukie, Oregon

Comments about Ibanez AEG20E Flamed Sycamore Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I normally wouldnt rate a guitar this soon (just got it a couple days ago) but...In 1999 I bought an "Ibanez Performance PF-5CENT" that has been a dream, just a little big for me so I decided to go a little smaller. I picked up an Ibanez AEG20II-VV, took in into the "high end" room & played it side by side to 5 different Taylors in the $1500 - $2500...the AEG held its own. Incredible sound, very comfortable size & very smooth action. Also a beautiful finish. If I ever perform on stage someday I might consider a more expensive accoustic, although the AEG might still be fine. I expect to own this guitar for the rest of my life...Check out an Ibanez if your looking for any style guitar....they are making some great guitars right now
