Though not very loud, this guitar sings with a sweet natural tone that is best when amplified. Whether plugged into an acoustic guitar amp, electric guitar amp, PA system, or recording channel it is easy to acheive many great sounds directly from the guitar. The 3-Band EQ, Shape contour, chromatic tuner, volume control, and phase switch combined with a Fishman pickup are probably worth the total price of this extremely playable guitar. The body and neck are both slimmer than most classical designs and are joined at the 14th fret with a cutaway that allows easy playing up to the 21st. None of the 21 frets are marked giving the neck a very smooth appearance while the rest of the guitar is adorned with color and gloss. Both neck and body are edged with white and black binding and are dark mahogany while the top is spruce with abalone around the sound hole and a stunning tangerine finish. Gold classical tuners and dual outputs, one 1/4 in. and one XLR, also help make this unique guitar stand out as a great value. Requires two AAA bateries.

I am a published song writer and play in a popular trio with two well known, excellent musicians. I also produce my own music in a very good quality home studio. For some time I have been looking for a classical guitar with a small gague neck. I tried and love Taylor (own two), but didn't want to spend the money for the Taylor classical, given my limited need. The Ibanez was the perfect compromise. It's very playable, attractive, well put together, excellent features for the money, sounds great live (through mains), and records great. I didn't rush into the guitar. Owning several instruments, quality comes first for me, but this guitar hit all the strides we put it through. Take your time buying any acoustic instrument, but take a minute to consider this if budget is also important. You won't be disappointed.

Great guitar - just be sure to get great strings!

By christian wandzala

Comments about Ibanez AEG10NE Nylon String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is an excellent guitar for only $300. I've had it for about 3 years at least. The only problem I had/have experienced with it is a minor buzz on the second fret (A-string), or sometimes a different note on the A-string depending on how much it resonated; what I have figured this to be was the 'bass' or resonance of the note is more or less rattling something around the headstock area. But its seriously minor, and isn't noticeable outside of recording with a sensitive mic. Besides that, honestly, I can't find too much fault, there is a few things I have to disagree with from other reviewers. First of all, if you want this guitar to sound good, I suggest just skip getting the $4 Martins for strings if that's your style -- spend the extra money on a good set of higher quality strings, because the difference will be exceptional. The acoustic sound for this guitar is very good; I almost never use the pickup. For recording sessions I ALWAYS mic the guitar with an MXL 990 (usually positioned around the 18th fret give or take). The built in-tuner is great for someone with a sensitive ear like myself who can always hear when the string is even just a little bit out - this way you can get the strings perfectly in tune without problems, another great feature. I have no idea what the person talking about problems with the fretboard was -- I've been playing this guitar for THREE years and it is still as grand as it was at first, and I've never noticed anything like rough-cuts on this piece, everything is well made. Unless he was mixed up, and he meant he was scraping his hand on the bridge - which would be silly, because a classical guitarist shouldn't even be resting his hand on the bridge for at least the majority of his playing.. If anything, the guitar might even be better than it was when I first obtained it due to being weathered and getting broken-in. With nice strings and a capo I can get a very punchy, clear sound that is not always east to get with other guitars, and without a capo the low strings perform with a deep voice; if your hands are positioned correctly when play the high-strings, you will hear a lot of those harmonics ringing out with a natural-reverb effect. One more note. This guitar is not made like a typical classical -- which was the intention by Ibanez. They wanted a classical guitar that was nice, made for people who were transitioning from regular acoustic to nylon. So, this guitar has a 'narrow' neck/fretboard (at least 3/4 the size of a normal classical) and the body is tight and small, easy to hold and play. I would at the least suggest this as your first classical guitar for all those reasons - play it for a few years, and then contemplated going out to find the next step up!

Comments about Ibanez AEG10NE Nylon String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I kept going up to Guitar Center and playing one of these but it exceeded my budget. MF (hey, they picked their initials, not me) sent me an e-mail with pricing so low it was an offer I couldn't refuse. A little leary of ordering online, but no complaints. Good quality instrument at a great price. They said "gently used" but actually it was hardly used at all. Better than the one I've been beating up at Guitar Center.

Fits my playing style perfectly :D

    By Jose Guerrero

Comments about Ibanez AEG10NE Nylon String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is is exactly what I was looking for! I play Rodrigo and Gabrielas music and I'm obsessed with their style. It's obvious to me that they play much higher quality guitars, but for the price this guitar has far surpassed my expectations. The action is really low making it easy to sweep through runs and also to hold down bar chords when strumming in Gabrielas triplets (I suggest you look up their music if you don't know what I'm reffering to) I can't put this guitar down!!!!

Comments about Ibanez AEG10NE Nylon String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is an amazing instrument for the money. I have ten other much more expensive guitars but this is the one I gig with (acoustically) the most. Wonderful electronics and action. I had to adjust the bridge to correct the intonation and also had to remove a few burrs from the fret ends. I use the Planet Waves sound hole cover which prevents feedback without diminishing the tone. Two musician friends of mine were so impressed by the sound they both bought one. Also got one for my daughter and she loves it. My advice is simply to buy this guitar because you won't regret it. And so very affordable. Pretty cool!

Great for the price, but needs work

      By Randal Dean

      from Dallas, Texas

Comments about Ibanez AEG10NE Nylon String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Beautiful guitar. Great tone THRU THE AMP. Not so much acoustically, but I bought it to be played electric. Action out of the box is very low, like an electric archtop. But there was buzzing at certain notes, I had that fixed by a luthier, who also customized the saddle. The fret ends are as sharp as razors, so be prepared to pay for a fret dressing, or do it yourself. The guitar as it is will tear your hand up. I understand that this is not unusual for low end "Pacific rim" guitars. I own 15 guitars, this is the first Chinese one I have. I do have some Korean-made guitars, and this isn't a problem with those. With this Ibanez, unmodified, there will be blood. For $299 plus whatever you spend to make it right, it's worth it.

Comments about Ibanez AEG10NE Nylon String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Guitar is poorly made, It will not stay in tune. It feels and looks cheap, not something you would want other musicans seeing you playing. Thank goodness for Musicans Friends 45 day return policy as I would hate to have been stuck with this guitar. Save your money and buy a better guitar.

Comments about Ibanez AEG10NE Nylon String Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I had to work on the bridge & frets to soften the edges. Otherwise this is a really nice guitar. Sounds quite nice. The equalizer/tuner was beyond my expectations. Overall I'm very happy. I now own 4 guitars and find myself picking up the Ibanez most often. The fact that the neck is very close in size to my steel string guitars makes moving from one to another effortless. I spoke so highly of this guitar that my brother (who owns several very high end guitars ) ordered one. By the way : apparently my guitar must have just come off the boat it was so new. It came out of the box sounding pretty good and in the short time I've had it the sound has improved dramatically. I fully expect it to improve more with time.

Just started learning how to play and am enjoying it very much. My instructor has been teaching for 50+ years and has recommended this same guitar to other students. I'm just not too fond of the tangerine color but that doesn't make it play any better so I'm happy!
