I just got this guitar a few days ago and I love it. When I got it I went into the store thinking I would have to change the strings but I love the strings on it already. The onboard tuner is also a great feature. Ill never be out of tune again. I just want to thank Ibanez for making such a great guitar.

I bought this guitar over a year ago. I got the beautiful violin burst color. I needed a guitar for the church worship team and solo coffee house gigs. When I got it I was amazed by everything. The feel, the sound, the guitar was a dream. But, exactly a year after I bought it (in the middle of a church service to make the matter worse) the onboard system started to produce an awful crackling noise. At first I thought it was the connection, but when I looked at my onboard tuner, it was randomly (and rapidly) turning itself on and off, and all the lights on it were just going crazy. I took the onboard system out and got a soundhole pickup + piezo undersaddle stereo system. It's working great. Like I said the guitar feels great, but the electronics went out suddenly after a year of use.

An Acoustic Above All Others!

Comments about Ibanez AEF30E Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This was my first true guitar. The other one I had was an Abilene starter acoustic. It was kiddie sized, but still playable by an adult, but lacked a cutaway. First of all, the aesthetics of this guitar (The finish, inlays, etc.) are amazing. The purple/violet burst is very vibrant (especially in the light) but not overpowering bright. Its a little more violet than in the picture. It also has a subtle glossiness in the middle area by the soundhole, which looks pretty cool when on stage or playing in front of a crowd. The Abalone on the mother of pearl blocks on the inlays also looks really cool, and the large inlays also help you easily spot the key frets. Now before I go further, I will note that I'm more of an electric guitar (more accurately solid body electric guitar) guy, so I'm not an expert on acoustics. In fact this is my ONLY acoustic (other than the aforementioned mini acoustic). It has a lot of resonance when unplugged, and sounds well through an amp as well (even a cruddy Squier SP10 amp). the on board tuner is a lifesaver, and the preamp helps alter your tone on the fly. It doesn't go so well in overdrive/distortion (loud blue whale dying feedback) but I think that goes for all/most acoustics (again, I mainly play electric). I will say that I found this guitar very versatile: I've learned to play a lot of songs on it, From Pink Floyd to White Stripes, and from The Who to Korn. It served its purpose well in helping learn to play guitar, and I still use it when practicing. The only con to say about it, is a few months after I got it, after changing the strings, I got some weird fret buzzing from the D string and buzzing from the upper frets. Keep in mind I was young, and knew little up to this point. It turns out I put the D string for an electric guitar on it, and the neck needed some minor readjustment. I've had no problems since. I definitely recommend this if you're just starting out; This guitar has a lot of tone to it and is fun to play. It also looks cool in your collection with the wild purple color, abalone & mother of pearl inlays, and gold hardware. Plus, its in a very affordable price range. It has all you need and will definitely last you.

      What a Great Surprise!

      By Mark Zelenz

Comments about Ibanez AEF30E Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

      Very happy and content.
Been thinking about a cutaway acoustic electric since Dave Matthews came on the seen. All my guitar friends and even store specialists talked me out of it saying the acoustic sound is nothing if not powered and takes away from the the traditional acoustic sound. I'm happy to say they all got it wrong with this guitar!. Bright sound and great feel and of course love the color. Props to Musicians Friend customer service as the guitar came with a nick in the neck and they were happy to swap it out. After receiving the replacement (it too sounded and felt great) I found myself too attached to the first guitar to give it up and kept it. Also, the built in tuner is a huge luxury for me. Love this guitar.
Guitar is solid. Has some wires that rattle inside is my only negative. Plugged it in and it sounds and plays like a dream. Looking forward to 2012 and showing it off.

Not for big sound, but adequate

Comments about Ibanez AEF30E Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guy a little less than 3 years ago. I got an excellent price, at $100 off, so for original price I walked out with a hard case, cable, and a stack of various picks. After two years the bridge started to delaminate itself from the guitar and pull up at the end. It's not destructive, but it will require attention eventually. Other than than it keeps tune well, and the onboard preamp is really good quality electronics. The only word of caution is that due to thin body it is very mid-rangey and not alot of bottom end like you'd expect from this body shape.

      I love this guitar

Comments about Ibanez AEF30E Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I dreamed of owning this guitar, I looked at it on this site all the time. Back in June I was finally able to get it and I have been in love ever since. The sound is great, the action is incredible, the electronics are top notch and the wood, finish and details are beautiful. The thing to remember is that it is an acoustic/electric that has a slim body. It's not going to have a big boomy sound like a jumbo. With that said, it has a great tone and when plugged in, you can get that jumbo sound. I have recorded and played live with this guitar and I always get great comments about the sound. If you are kicking around the idea of getting this one, I have two words for you: GET IT!

I used to work for Ibanez as a a guitar checker and I love the sound of this guitar. I guess it depends on your preference but if you like crisp bright clear acoustic sound, this one is for you. It is my acoustic sound of choice. Neck feels great to.

      Ibanez AEF30E Marine Sunburst Acoustic-Electric

      By Anonymous

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Ibanez AEF30E Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is a great acoustic/electric guitar for those who like the bright and crisp acoustic sound(Ibanez AEF30E Marine Sunburst.) The maple back, sides, and top bring out sharp mids and highs. The only reason I rated the quality under 5 is because it seemed to loose its tune quicker than my Aria (which can stay tuned for months.) Tightening the tuning head srews when you restring could help this. The color is a very nice bonus, however the shades alternate between guitars and pictures. The action is fine and plays like an electric. It's XLR or Lo-z output is very helpful when there are not any 1/4" jack inputs are available. Over all, its easy to play, it has good electronics, and it looks great.

      Rather Pleased

      By Faust

Comments about Ibanez AEF30E Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for a little more than two years and it's still playing like a dream. I haven't gigged with it that much but it seems like it can take a couple gigs. About the best you can get for the money. Only thing I don't like is that when it is plugged in it is SO bassy that it hums, but that can be fixed just by turning the bass down either on the guitar or the mixing board. It is beautiful in person. It still looks great after two years.

      A heck of a deal

      By StillLearning

Comments about Ibanez AEF30E Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I use this guitar almost daily, and still love it. An Ibanez is never going to be as good as a Taylor, Gibson, or Martin, but for someone on my budget (i.e. nothing), this guitar rocks. The electronics allow the sound to be quite customizable. I love a lot of bass in my playing, and it KICKS. The built-in tuner is handy as well. Ibanez can be a tough company to get to fix your broken products, but when they work, they're amazing.
