I ordered this guitar during the 4th of July sale. I was tempted to buy a $200 range because I needed to budget. But I followed some advice - buying the cheaper guitar may not be worth it in the end. I'm satisfied with this guitar. I'm a beginner and I found the on board tuner extremely helpful (since I'm not good enough to tune it by ear). The gloss and workman ship on this guitar is nice. I'm satisfied with the sound it makes. To me it sounds better than the Fender CD100 Left-Handed (but this could be because of my taste). I think this guitar has better highs and lows. I find the tone suitable to play a lot of alternative songs like Under the Bridge, and maybe some Incubus song - if I get good enough. It was worth every dollar. Con: this guitar has a strange shape and may not fit the majority of dreadnaught cases out there - this is due to the fatter bottom and thin top. The contour is much more drastic. It might make an important impact on the way you hold this guitar and how comfortable you feel. I can't wait to get good enough to play something good, then hook it up to an amp.

I have been playing for a few years and know what a good acoustic should sound like. I have owned Alvarezs, Takamines, Washburns, etc. I recently received this guitar as a gift. It is not the kind of guitar I would buy for myself considering I generally stay away from Ibanez acoustics because I have always found their sound and playability sub-par. The first thing that I noticed about this guitar was the extremely high action (which was promptly fixed through a professional setup and is now very playable). The second thing I noticed was the acoustic sound-very flat and one dimensional, with very little of the brightness that I generally would see in a spruce top acoustic guitar. I thought maybe this was a byproduct of the strings but after a set up and string change this is still an issue. When I am playing at home I generally reach for my Alvarez when I'm seeking a more satisfying acoustic sound. The third thing that I noticed is that the tuners are garbage, I am constantly having to retune this guitar. You can hear it go out of tune while playing it. I plan to change out the tuenrs ASAP. I have owned far cheaper guitars that have stayed in tune longer. HOWEVER, I hooked up this guitar to my church's PA and I could not believe the sound! Wow! This guitar was truly built to be played through an amp or pa because it comes alive. I now use this guitar everytime I play at church or a plugged venue. If you are looking for a good lefty acoustic to play live in a church or coffee shop setting this may be a good choice after a setup and change of tuners.

Purchased as a Level 4 guitar. Arrived with several finish cracks around nut and bridge. Easy fix for me. Installed some new Martin strings and adjusted the action...played really well.

    A splendid Intermediate Guitar!

    By Emmanuel Andrews

    Comments about Ibanez AEF18LE Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Though, the natural acoustic sound is alittle flat and not as full as my first 89 dollar Rogue Dreadnought guitar, when you plug this Boy into an amp this thing comes ALIVE, full sound, it sounds beautiful and precious to the ear, I've had this guitar for about 4 months now, i havent changed the strings sense,I think this is a great second guitar, personally i would recommend the Rogue Dreadnought for beginners(still as an amazing sound) but definitely, if your looking for a nice sounding, clear guitar that sounds excellent on an Amp, this is the guitar for you!

    Comments about Ibanez AEF18LE Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Got a Restock Dark Violin Sunburst version for a backup guitar, and it was a pleasant surprise!

Guitar finish looked much better than on photo and I could not spot any difference with New instrument.

The sound is superior to some more expensive models of similar class, both unplugged and amplified.

Only required a minor adjustment, and I'll probably restring it with a softer string set.

    A real bargain!

Django Smooth, I Loves his Ibanez AEF18LT

    By Larry Morris

    from Baltimore, Maryland

    Comments about Ibanez AEF18LE Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

It's not often that I can find a left-hand acoustic guitar in Guitar Center. Normally I always have to order them online from other venders. It's as if Guitar Center has something against left-handers. But low and behold, I stop by the store, just to kill some time. When I look in the acoustic room, and their it was on the wall. So I go in the room, take it down. And from the first strum, I was in love with her. It has a beautiful voice. So sweet and bright. I love it. I found out that it had EXP11 light strings. .012-053. So I picked up a set of EXP's for my old Acoustic. Put them on. But it was not the same sound as the Ibanez AEF18LT. So I had them to order it for me. And I'm glad I did. I'm an on-line music student, at Berklee Music College in Boston. If your money is tight. The AEF18LT is just right. Django 10-07-2013

    Comments about Ibanez AEF18LE Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar as a backup guitar for my acoustic shows. When the guitar arrived it was packaged well, but the neck required a truss rod adjustment. The electronics and tuner in the guitar are good. Unplugged it's not a very lively guitar as far as its sound. Overall it's average, and the adage is true: You get what you pay for. When it comes to acoustics in this price range, you're probably better off buying new vs. used because these guitars don't take abuse as well as the more expensive models. The only concern I have with this instrument is the construction and bracing around the top and bridge. I'm not sure if putting anything heavier than a light gauge string is recommended for this model.

    Worth Every Dime

    By Jef Coburn

    from Undisclosed

    Verified Buyer

    Comments about Ibanez AEF18LE Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The tuner is easy to use. The guitar sounds great over an amp. Unlike many electroacoustics, it has the same sound chamber as a regular acoustic (not "slimmed down"). The sustain is stunning. Now I understand why people rave about guitars with solid tops! This was a splurge for me, but I honestly don't see myself ever having to upgrade. I have found my sound!

    An underrated champ!

    By john yantis

    from Athens, Pennsylvania

    Comments about Ibanez AEF18LE Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

After a long hiatus from playing guitar, this is my first in years. I have to admit that the sound is a bit high in action. But otherwise a good deal, especially when it comes to price. The onboard electronics could be perhaps a bit better with their placement. I have tripped the onboard tuner several times. The onboard tuner is a nice option, but I leave the final tuning to my clip-on zoid. The gloss finish is nice, and I have the Dark violet sunburst model. Overall, I am fairly satisfied with this model. I would probably buy a higher priced model down the road but until then, this is the guitar for me.
