Overview

The Artwood series was crafted to produce a traditional as well as a modern guitar. Technology moves forward at a frantic pace and the world of guitar craftsmanship is no different. In producing the AC240 Artwood Grand Concert Acoustic Guitar, Ibanez respected the rich tradition of the acoustic guitar while adding modern interpretations in their continuing search for the ultimate in guitar tone.

This is a descendent of the old orchestral acoustic guitars, instruments designed to be audible over large instrumental ensembles in the days before amplification.

The Grand Concert body is made with a wider, 44.5mm neck and shorter 24.9" scale length, to make this ideal for fingerpicking. You'll get a strong, warm tone from the solid mahogany top and mahogany back and sides, complemented by the warm tone of the mahogany neck, rosewood bridge and fretboard. It features a neck shape that provides an easy grip, while chrome Grover Tuners give you better tuning stability, and bone nut and saddle offer enhanced overtones. Other refinements include a headstock where tradition and modern style co-exist.

Comments about Ibanez AC240 Artwood Grand Concert Acoustic Guitar:

This is my go-to guitar. It takes bumps and bruises, my dog knocked it over, it made a ride home in 10 degree weather from Buffalo NY in February in the bed of a utility truck with no warping or bridge issues. Open pour Mahogany give it beautiful tone for a Concert body. No it is not a Martin 000-15M... but all those "zeros" are in the price of the martin as well.
Kudos Ibanez.

Comments about Ibanez AC240 Artwood Grand Concert Acoustic Guitar:

This is a great Blues guitar. It's somewhat shorter in scale, but not so much that it feels like a kid's guitar. The workmanship for the price was impeccable. Great for fingerstyle & strumming the Blues without breaking the bank. I even tried a much more expensive Martin while in store, and I picked this guitar over the Martin. Ibanez is putting out some great guitars lately.

Comments about Ibanez AC240 Artwood Grand Concert Acoustic Guitar:

I am writing this review because I am faced with a dilemma, I have a gig backing up a group of 10 singers and I can't decide whether to use my Marin HD28 or my Ibanez AC240, the Ibanez actually does better keeping up with that many voices because it out performs the Martin - I kid you not. Do I go with Prestige and Name (this could be televised) or flat out sound?
I commented 1 1/2 yrs ago on this guitar but it has opened up so much in the last year I had to comment again. In my last review I mentioned I own a Martin HD28LSV, and a Fender JG26SCE, I also now own a Martin 00-15 Retro (very sweet guitar).
In the past the Martin HD28 was king for big, big sound; guess what, it's lost that status. The Ibanez kills it. I would call anyone a little touched in the head if they told me this but I have both guitars so I cannot deny it. The Martin does have more deep bottom end but Not Much and the Ibanez is noticeably louder, cuts through better, and has a more balanced tone (no scooped mids). Here's the disclaimer, the Ibanez is not stock but it's close. This summer I pulled the factory bone saddle and installed a Tusq saddle. I have always used Martin SP Phosphor Bronze strings (Lights) almost since the day I bought it because they sound so much better. THAT'S IT. A Tusq saddle, strings, and a lot of playing.
Get Rid of the D'Addario strings, put Martin's on it with a Tusq saddle and play it like crazy. You Will Be Amazed when it starts to open up - mine started to open up after 6 months, I've had my AC240 for 2 1/2 years now and it just keeps getting better and better.
This guitar is one of Ibanez' best keep secrets
Get a Tusq saddle - more bottom end and balanced sound and sparkling harmonics.
My 00-15 has Tusq from and it blew me away. The Tusq Saddle also helped wake up my Fender in a big way.

Comments about Ibanez AC240 Artwood Grand Concert Acoustic Guitar:

I wanted a Mahogany acoustic. I had a budget of $4-500. So I took to my local GC and played everything they had, literally. I had narrowed it down to the Ibanez and the Tim Armstrong Hellcat but for me the tone and playability was just better with the Ibanez. It just felt better in my hands. Kinda wish it had a preamp in it but that's not a real deal breaker for me. This is a great guitar period, not just for the money. Setup was perfect for my liking, fit and finish are excellent.

Comments about Ibanez AC240 Artwood Grand Concert Acoustic Guitar:

All I can say is this guitar will surprise you. Go to a GC and pick this up. Great action and the sound is amazing! I was looking at lower end Martin's 000 and OXA. The sound of this Ibanez blew those two guitar's away. I even picked up A Taylor, Breedlove, Seagull. I did like the Seagull Rustic Acoustic as well. But for the money this Ibanez has big money sound for a small price tag. Try one and you will see.

Bought this guitar a couple years back. Projects very well, full sounding chords, very low priced. Would definitely get it again. Always recommend it to people looking to buy a guitar. All my friends who play love it. My only regret is that I didn't buy the acoustic electric. Guitar is really good to practice on and mess around jamming with your buddy's. If you want a good "campfire" guitar buy this.

Comments about Ibanez AC240 Artwood Grand Concert Acoustic Guitar:

Was looking playing every small body OM or 000 in the store and started with the Martins, Taylors, Breedloves and did not find anything that bit me. I went on to the Yamaha, Seagulls and so on. On a fluke, I grabbed this guitar. I owned an Ibanez Saber back when they first came out and loved it, but never associated Ibanez with acoustics. I was like magic when I played this. I had to have it. I have never been this smitten by a guitar before and I have owned a few, maybe more than a few. The only guitar I liked better was the Martin John Mayer OM I played a few years back but $3,500 was not in the budget at the time.
