An overdrive and boost circuit in one convenient pack.

For over 30 years the Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer has been one of the most popular overdrive pedals in the world. The unmistakable little green stomp box has been a perennial favorite, cherished by rock's most celebrated guitarists for its warm, creamy tone and unequivocal responsiveness. Now Ibanez has expanded the palette of "The Screamer" with the new TS808DX.

Simply put, this new version is two pedals in one: A true TS808 Overdrive, featuring the JRC4558D IC for that signature soft, subtle clipping sound, and a boost circuit, capable of adding up to 26dB at the tap of a switch. The pedal incorporates two individual, true-bypass switches for total independent control, allowing the Overdrive and the Booster to be used separately or in conjunction with each other. Add the Boost for a few extra dB while playing through the Overdrive circuit, or just engage the booster on its own for that little extra lift while playing clean.

A toggle switch allows for the choice of placing the Boost Pre or Post the Overdrive section and a rear panel switch offers the option of 9-volt or 18-volt operation, It's the Screamer you know and love, taken to a whole new level.

Ibanez Tube Screamer TS808DX Guitar Effects Pedal Features:

  • True TS808 Circuit
    Independent 26dB Boost Circuit
    Pre/Post Switch
    True-Bypass Switching
    9V/ 18V Operation
    Heavy-duty metal switches and casing

Standard TS808 with more. Your get true bypass which the standard does not have. Runs on 9v but has an external switch on the back to convert the power to 18v internally to give more headroom. (Note: not a huge difference in sound switching to 18v but it's there.) The boost function is another key feature. It is a clean boost. Does not color your signal. The boost is switchable to either push the screamer into more gain or switch it to post and increase overall volume. The size of the unit is about the same as 2 ts808s next to each other. ...if you already have a TS808 and a boost pedal then you are all set...but if you are in the market for a quality screamer type overdrive and a boost then I suggest you take a look and listen to this pedal.. People have a love hate relationship with Tube Screamers. If you are trying to use a tube screamer at bedroom levels or low volume they will suck... Any Tube Screamer shines when played at gig volume or think of it as a sound level that has to compete with a drummer. People complain about bass loss. IMO if you add bass to an overdrive signal it can become muddy...Mids are what cuts through a mix and is why this pedal has been around so long. There are many of great clones out there from cheap to expensive and all were derived from this circuit. The only con I have with this pedal are the mini jewel lights. Don't get me wrong the jewel lights are cool looking and you know when that pedal is on when they are lit. I really like them but they are the same height as the toggle switch when the toggle is at its lowest compressed position. If you have a heavy foot and are rough on your pedals then there could be a chance of damaging them if you are not careful while depressing the toggle switch. They do appear sturdy and are mounted tight on the case. Overall this is the classic 808 sound more features and cool looks.

  • Can't believe I waited so long to get one

I've been using a Maxon 808 for years since I sold my Tubescreamer back in the early 90s. I had no idea this thing sounded so good! I just pulled my Maxon off the board as well as my boost pedal since this one has a built-in boost (that works better and cleaner than the separate pedal I had). This pedal is awesome...old school tubescreamer tones and a can't go wrong!
