I've only been playing bass for about 2 years, but after the first year with a $199 Dean starter kit, I figured it was time to upgrade. I had my heart set on a Standard P-Bass. So I shuffled on down to the local GC, plopped myself down on the first available bench, plugged in that beast of a P-Bass, and found myself . . . relatively disappointed. It just didn't have as much tonal control as I wanted. I played around with that P-Bass for the better part of an hour, and it just didn't feel right. So I started looking around, found this bass, and thought it was beautiful in it's simplicity. Started playing it and found that it is just downright comfortable to play. The thumb rests on the pickups are really nice, the stock strings are pretty nice. The Low/High adjusters are REALLY nice. So I brought that sucker home. Been about a year now, and I still love it, have had no major problems with it so far (The battery for the active electronics goes pretty fast if you leave it plugged in to the amp). The stock strings are good, but I like Ernie Ball Power Slinky's, got that nice punchy sound to them. And talk about versatility, this thing plays it all. I can go from Metallica to The Beatles with just a couple little adjustments and it sounds GREAT. If you want a bass that is built to last, and you don't have a huge budget, look no further.
