  • Great Bass for the Money

As reviewed by PJSPEED on 2/9/2009

I bought this bass after a thorough comparison of a Fender Jazz Bass, Fender P Bass, & Music Man Through both an Ampeg and a SWR combo. This bass has the most beautiful tone, clear and well articulated bass and pristine highs. It came so well set up out of the box, that I have not had to touch a thing (surprise!!). It has a great "round" tone that is not matched by the aforementioned instruments, and the playability is superb. An amazing instrument that makes me sound like a better player than I am, and one that makes me want to play more and more.

  • Beautiful...looking and sounding.

As reviewed by John on 8/1/2009

I can't express enough how much I like this bass. But first things first. Ordered on a Thursday, arrived following Monday. That's pretty good for free. Would have been sooner if not for the weekend. Now on to the bass. The craftsmenship of this Indonesian made instrument is outstanding. Beautiful wood grain neck. I had no idea jajoba and bubinga were so attractive and smooth feeling. This is the nicest, most easy to play neck on any bass I have ever played, and I've played them all...Rick's, Fenders, Tobias, Alembic. The abolone inlays are gorgeous as well. The body has a sleek, smooth, well shaped feel and is lightly coated with an oil based stain that does not suffocate the wood. You can actually feel the grain, which allows the wood to breath. The bridge has been set into the body via routing, something not mentioned in the description, and an added bonus in my opinion. The Bartolini pick-ups and 3-band eq. allow for any type of tone shapping. Don't listen to the nay-sayers about the non-USA Bartolini's. These pick-ups are hot and versatile. The bass came loaded with Elixir strings as well, and I have to say, for the first time ever trying them, I'm impressed. Very smooth and fast. I have a Fender Jazz, another Ibanez, have owned a Rickenbacker and other Fenders, and played every bass I could ever get my hands on. For the price, Ibanez has outdone themselves.

  • Nice, but not quite like the picture

As reviewed by bill on 5/5/2010

Just got this bad boy the other day. Overall, amazing bass guitar. Sound is full and lots of options to change it to your liking. If there is any flaw its that the guitar that I got doesn't have as much wood marbling as in the picture. Very mute colors also. But the wood work is great. Very smooth and solid. Beuatiful wood coloring.
